  • VIDEO: A couple of hours on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Dalmeny station, on the Fife Circle Line, featuring ScotRail class 158s, class 170s, class 43 HSTs and an LNER class 800 'Azuma' train.
    ----------------------
The current Dalmeny station is actually the second one to serve the town that sits on the edge of the River Forth. It was opened on 28 April 1890, the same year that the iconic Forth railway bridge opened and linked Dalmeny and South Queensferry with North Queensferry and the broader kingdom of Fife.
Just south of the station is a branch that runs to Winchburgh Junction on the main line between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street via Linlithgow and Falkirk High. It was used by a parliamentary service that ran once a day in each direction; the 0713 Kirkcaldy to Glasgow Queen Street in the morning and the 1733 Glasgow Queen Street to Markinch in the evening. Both services were withdrawn from May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and, as of April 2024, have not been reinstated.
