I've listened to a lot of UG's discourses. All of what he says makes sense to me and I can't help but internalize his message, which on one hand it comforts me but on the other hand it makes me think...ok, then why strive for anything? It cuts into my optimism but I feel grateful to him for expressing himself.

I love it! Nobody has figured it the fuck out. Stop saying you're enlightened. You just had a different experience. Similar to a scientist working in the Harvard University, he is experiencing something most people in this world will not experience, but he doesn't go around boasting he's 'enlightened'. At most he'll say he's an educated scientist (not discounting the vanity in the scientific community though). The moment you say I'm enlightened, you can surmise the world in a concept, you've failed.
In India the feet of the Guru or enlightened sages are said to be blessed. Indeed touching the feet of the Guru or elders is said to be a sign of humility and bestow blessings onto the person touching the feet
