  • Jón Gnarr was born in Reykjavík (Iceland) in 1967. His father was a policeman. After a series of casual jobs he worked as a taxi driver and later as a comedian. His Best Party won a landslide victory at the municipal elections in 2010 and Gnarr became mayor of the Icelandic capital.

    I think one of the things that make Jon Gnarr so adorable is his authenticity. We need more people like that in politics. I've seen the Gnarr documentary three times, and I continue to be inspired by him.

    Jon Gnarr: Yes I would say, Be the bürger you want to eat
    I was like what?? The thing is bürger is citizens in German. That's when you realize the guy is clever not stupid :)
