If you're sure it was a property corner, then this is most likely against the law. It depends what state you're in. I'm a licensed surveyor in Virginia and it's against the law here. Do you have a survey plat for your property? If so, a surveyor could easily reset that corner. If there are disagreements as to where the property line lays, it ultimately has to go to court and a judge will decide. So try to be nice with your neighbor, going to court could be very expensive.
Dave Jackson - what are your thoughts on using spray paint? It is easier to carry and no brush or second container is required.
Genius
What's the best way to deal with someone who has moved an official survey point ?
Is that something that the DNR handles?

Yep. Do your homework then call an attorney that has experience in this field of law.
03:30 If that tree is on the boundary, then part of it belongs to someone else. So, how can you go chopping and painting on someone elses tree?
What happens if the tree is cut down or if it burns down?
Hmm
On my property, if you cut down a live tree past the boundary line it’s like a $300 fine, but you CAN cut down dead trees past the line.
fines are one thing. Trespassing and Damages (Civil suits) are another.
that's what I like to know.
@@Landon_2006 still doesn't answer the question. You can't fine someone when you don't know who did it.
