One minor correction: You don't need to be undetected by enemies for Ocean Palace's main mission. That's only a requirement for the bonus mission for the second emblem. Not that it changes the results of the challenge. Great video by the way!
Actually, I do consider Sonic Heroes to be their first appearance, sort of. Not of the character designs, but of the actual characters. I half remember talk about the team making new characters from old designs, but I'm tired and have work in the morning so I'm not going to track that down. What I will say is in Knuckles' Chaotix, Espio wasn't a ninja, Vector didn't lead a detective agency, and, brace yourself for this, Charmy was described as mature for his age. Sophisticated, even. Modern Charmy took a colossal shift.
I could have sworn there was a mission in collecting rings but yea, I was wrong and glad I was. I think it was Shadow the Hedgehog that has a mission like that, can't remember. Anyway, fantastic job!
The prize from the target actually isn't ramdom, it operates based on your aim. A bullseye will always yield a team blast. Though whether the hitbox for the bullseye is accurate or not is another question.
this is a good series of videos. however it always baffles me that some people dont know the intricoes of some teams: team dark can cancel the chaos control by pressing the team blast button again so that you dont have to stand around for another 20 seconds waiting to cross a door that wont open in frozen time. espio has stars and kunai he can throw when on his own to take out larger enemies faster for his difficult stealth missions. probably more known is that unlike 06 and shadow, its faster to just hold the speedup button on grind rails than to mash it.
That scene with Espio throwing the kunai? I can't help but think about Scorpion from Mortal Kombat whenever I see that. Then again, it doesn't help that I started playing Mortal Kombat when I was like... 6? I want to say I was 6 when I started playing Mortal Kombat, maybe younger. Anyway, I'd say I love the series as much as I love Sonic, if not moreso. Also, 200 rings to the total just because of the bs level requirements. Ridiculous.

He was playing the PC version which is the buggiest version of sonic heroes. The most stable version is the gamecube but no matter what the game is just too slippery in controls.
I was old enough to know classic Sonic when Heroes came out, still didn’t know about the Chaotix until much later. The 32X was the dumbest thing ever made by SEGA.
What I like is that the game heavily suggests that team dark is "difficult", but if you compare the two, in the majority of cases team chaotix has more enemies and more obstacles in almost all missions
That's what baffles me tbh, I don't know if this is simply due to 20 years of experience or what. But I've always found Team Dark to be really easy, that was the first team I managed to beat outside Team Rose.
You dont actually have to repeatedly press the jump button to stay in the air in flight formation. just hold the button after starting flight, and you can stay in the air indefinitely as long as you dont move.
Well... in 1 or second lvl Espio just have tornado ability when he perform homing attack, didn't know how's you miss it Second castle level would be more easy cuz Espio be in stealth all along

Ok no offense but grand metropolis as the caotix was really easy and I only got a d rank on act 1 because I fell of the stage, otherwise I got all the robots on my 1st try.

Through out these Sonic ringless runs, Honestly I wouldn't count stage where you get rings automically as a loss as you have no control of that.

You can clear that section of Frog Forest if you do a super precise jump with Espio to land on the rails

Do you realize you don't need to spam A to stay airborne? It only drains the flight meter when you're moving horizontally.
