- Earthing is a useful technique to avoid electrical accidents, it enables leakage current to flow away safely.
Earth resistance is the resistance of the soil that is occurred during the passage of an electric current. It is offered by the earth electrode to the flow of current into the ground. Therefore, it is crucial to measure the resistivity during the design of any earthing installations.
Our video helps you understand Earth resistance and six basic test methods to measure the earth resistance in detail.

Excellent explanation not tough in University / Classes also
Glad you liked it Narendra!
Thank You!
i agree
Great info! Electricians need to understand this - vital to both installation and maintenance. And I am an electrician.
Thank you!
We are glad you liked our video.
Useful lecture, particularly ways of reducing resistance.
We appreciate your response Kishore!
Good job guys
Thank You.
We appreciate your response!
How to reduce earthing where we are not knowing earth pit and its commercial building . My requirement is 1 ohm but its coming 3 ohm when checked on socket between earth and neutral. Please suggest some solution.
Hi Nimesh, the best solution for this is installing more Earth Pits.
You can get 1 ohm with the help of Earth Pits but that will depend upon your soil resistivity.
Let's connect at sales@axis-india.com to discuss this further and find a permanent solution to this.
Please clarify for us this : The earth resistance is only the resistance of the electrode or the sum of the resistances of the earth-electrode plus the resistance of earthing wire. For example if we have a grounded socket with earth cable 1.5mm2 till the electrical board and then the main earthing wire ( lets say 10mm2) that goes to the earth-electrode, the earth resistance is the sum of the resistances of the wires plus the resistance of electrode ?
Hey,
Earth resistance is the resistance value with respect to Soil and Earth. We don't need to consider the connection wire resistance.
So, the interconnecting wires won't affect the Earth Resistance Value.
@@AxisElectrical but when we are talking about safety of the people in electrical installations don't we need to take into account the resistance of earthing wire ? The resistance only earthing electrode - soil/earth is pretty useless (a theoretical value) if the earthing wire have high resistance. am i wrong ?
Do you have office in trivandrum, kerala??

Measuring resistance using the Earth clamp
Hi Waddah,
Please help us understand your query better.
You said 6 methods yet you forgot to talk about the 2 other methods especially 2 point method!
Why?
Hi X-SPACE,
Thank you for bringing this up, we are planning a sperate video on the 2 point method!
Talk only No action
Hey! You’re right. This was one of our early videos. Nowadays, we’re trying to include as much on the ground clips as possible.
