Not sure who disliked this and all the negative comments but it’s obvious you don’t know drumming. This is an art and this performance here is one of the greatest masterpieces today performed by one of the greatest drummers on this planet!!! I’ve been watching Thomas for a long time now and have learned so much even after being a drummer for 30 plus years!!! Keep rocking big T!!! Mike B I agree 100%. Let me ask you. Ive tried to like Mike M. But after him pulling out that Drummers magazine during a crappy solo was IT!! The appitimy of the ego. Lets be totally honest. Since his time with DT. He gotten very lazy, doesnt even do many fills now, he just have up hard work. And everyone has noticed DM starting to fail often on stage. Even Petrucci is missing notes due to drumming not laying on top of him like with Portnoy. So Mike M. Allowed EGO to destroy DT. Who would have imagined this?? Well, many people warned them about his ego. But they said he knoes Mike P. And our song's. That'll go down as what caused DT to fail!!!! Answer: Mike Mangine. He's contributes nothing. Thomas Lang is really great here amazing playing. He is one of my favourite drummers to watch along with Jonathan Sugarfoot Moffett.

I can say this with all of my heart and soul that you, Thomas is one of the best drummers in the world. Knowledge of the rudiments and practicing is really key to this kind of playing. Maybe one day I can be as good as you are.
Thomas is a God on drums. Never seen someone who can play with their feet with the control he has. He can play rufiments with double kick while accepting certain notes of his desire.

@@larrytate1657 TRAGIC STORY: over 20 years ago I designed a drumkit with 20 foot pedals (!).... but even more innovative was that each pedal had TWO parts, so the BALL of your feet triggers a different drum than your HEEL does! You can hit both with ONE foot, or go back and forth tween heel and ball!! SO the 20 pedals were 40 different percussion or drums! but I only designed it and didn't have the money or resources to build it!
If you get to play with Paul Gilbert, you're not only good. but have to be one of the best!

I'm a drummer who simply refuses to play like this, b/c there are too many other drummers who can do it. I only like to play fun, creative,innovative drums that sound like no one else!
Even cooler: I got a kid's drumkit and modded the fuck outta it (so everything is attached to the kick drum by cable ties etc!) and covered it in holographic tape....and I simply practice OUTDOORS all around society, from a walmart parking lot (we call this genre "Lot Rock" ha ha, when I jam with others outdoors) to near intersections to entertain ppl stuck at traffic lights for afew minutes! People of all walks go crazy for it, even thanking me for doing something different in this boring robot society. The other day a lady came up and gave me and my guitarist three 50 dollar bills! NOT BAD to get paid every day to learn your instrument, eh?
EVERY musician should practice outdoors (in nice weather). it's paradise. and it's just a crazy bonus that lots of strangers will give me $20 bills to hear 1 minute of my creative drumming! AWWWW YEAHHHH!!
(Every drummer who sees my more-efficient micro-kit [it even has a small glockenspiel attached to the kick!] has said "I want one!" b/c it takes me 30
seconds to set up my drums (!!) and i made that kit sound yummy, and they all realize "WHY THE F have I been practicing in a basement or attic or rehearsal space?" Plus, everyone with eyes and ears sees / hears my music! They love the super-efficiency!)

like I can't WATCH an orchestra.... b/c it takes away the magic and brings the dynamic music down to earth too much.
it's funny: sometimes SEEING the musician makes the music and notes clearer.... while other times NOT seeing the musicians makes the music and notes clearer (like listening to a song with out looking at the music video).
To take Thomas on the tour, was the best decision Paul would have ever made. Great show!

@@wewewewa Think I saw that, or, something like it, recently. He charts everything. German precision. No cheat sheets, per se. He was the guy for DT. Don't think he cared that much if he got the position. Good PR. Successful in his own wright. He's a monster. I'm simply a hobbyist.

There is only one Creator ! People are so quick to GODIFY other people but,snub their noses at the ALMIGHTY ,UGH.He bleeds just like a real person.
Thomas is an incredible drummer,But not God,I for one would like to see him get in a band with real songwriters cause although this shows he can play a variety of styles and he is damned good at anything he chooses to play,But this seemed like virtuosos playing 4 bars of this 8 bars of that back and forth till everyone is nauseated no real oh shit moments cause every note was oh shit and that gets old!!Its sad to see such a talent never achieve what we all know he’s more than capable of!

Pero con todo mi respeto hacia Lang y con todo mi orgullo de haber escuchado al magnífico Patt Torpey,he de decir que Torpey le daba kepchup a las canciones y te hacía sentir cosas que ningún otro baterista me ha hecho sentir. Era un baterista top que llenaba de matices todos con sentidos especiales y golpes fantasma que parecía que no existían pero sin ellos las canciones no suenan igual. No pretendo bajar de nivel a Lang,es magnífico. Pero escuchar a grandisimos bateristas como Lang,magini,pornoy,etc. Me hacen saber la suerte que he tenido de haber disfrutado de para mí el mejor baterista de la historia. Patt Torpey. Descansa en paz gran maestro e inspiración, baterista de bateristas y sonrisa eterna.

Really surprised that Lang is a fan of heavy metal, Racer X in particular. He’s mostly involved with jazz, fusion & big band compositions, which are more technical than rock. This is merely a walk in the park for him, considering his talent level. Rock On Tom, it’s fun stuff.
