    I’ve got one of these. Very good pumps, but I wish there was a cover over the impeller.
    I’ve removed it from my tank as I have small fish and there’s a chance they will get inside it when turned off or in feed mode.

    I have this pump and it works well but I hear a lot of vibration from it through the aquarium (acrylic).

    Great review....I think its a huge mistake by tunze not to include guards with this wavemaker....it wouldn't take much to have a guarded deflector and a basic dome shaped guard for use without the deflector...its the only reason I don't own one!! And I'm sure it's the same for alot of other people....cmon tunze sort some guards out!! You know it makes sense.

    Hey guys how is this pump with shrimp fish and snails ? Since it looks open with no guard is that risky ? I love the form factor and the controller bit scared it will kill something ?

      If you plan to have a lot of on-off cycles, then this pump isn't for you. If you plan to keep it on 24/7, then the fish will usually stay away from the spinning impeller due to the water flow.

    Hi Thomas, I really enjoyed your video on this 6040. But…researching further…omg! All the reviews (much more than one…) have read on the noise?? Has this been addressed by Tunze? I have a 40 Breeder. What do you recommend in the Tunze family? Should I do one or two, one on each side? Thanks! Rob

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  Před 2 lety

      Two powerheads will give you more options for perfecting the flow and eliminating dead spots. If you wanted to stick to the Tunze family, the 6015 (non-controllable) or the 6055 (controllable) would both be solid options for a 40 breeder. We haven't had the noise issues, so the 6020 and 6040 are both pumps that we'd also consider using.

    Thanks for the review, Thomas.
    One thing I don't understand, though.
    If I don't use the deflector, it looks like the propeller is exposed to fish, inverts.
    Is that correct?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  Před 3 lety +1

      That's correct

      They'd have to battle the flow to get into it as it sits below the rim surrounding it.

      Thanks for the reply guys.
      Reason I asked:
      My Yellow Tang and Flame Angel, bask in the flow of my MP10 and Nero. If it weren't for the guards, they'd be shredded for sure.
      Understand about the recession, but I wouldn't chance it.
      Always considered this pump for supplementation. If I get one, will definitely use the diverter.
