I used both Traxxas ProGraphix and Spaz Stix paint for this project.

Thanks Kev! This is amazing. I’ve been watching your channel for many years and it is an honor to have you watch one of my videos. Cheers!
@@XXLRC Thanks bro appreciate it!! I'll have to try that paint trick, maybe on my custom sledge build :)
Heck yes! Can’t wait to see it. I was just thinking about running my Sledge.
Kev, the Legend! Nice to see you leave some love to the little guys out there grinding.
You killed it brother
Thank you!
Ive done rc since 1977. Everything from cars, boats, planes, helicopters, u name it, ive done. Recently got back into flying, 3 months before covid. Ive raced professionally with kinwald, the Losi group, etc.
1st time in my life ive ever seen this!
I subbed & will be using YOUR method on my next body!
Awesome! Glad you liked it. I do mostly cars and trucks - bashers and crawlers. I do have a boat, but haven’t driven it yet and the only ones I fly are drones. Have not had a chance to try a helicopter or plane.

@@XXLRC I had never seen this technique before! It’s pretty cool!
Dude!! It's 5am Sunday morning and I'm trying not to squeal "that's badass!!" and wake up my wife. I almost busted a blood vessel. 😂 I just got a red granite and although I love it, I'd love a different color even more. Thank you for this video, it is indeed badass!!
Heck yeah! Glad you enjoyed it and you should totally do it! Best part about this type of paint job is how unique they all turn out. Nobody will have one exactly like yours.
Very rad!!!!
Thanks! Another very unique and easy paint job.
SUPER COOL THANKS 🤙🤙🤙

Man you did a brilliant job on that, it looks insane!

Thanks, man. Glad you like it!
Very cool
Thanks!
Love it. Good job 👍
Thanks!
I've seen the dish soap method for art but have never thought about it for an RC body, your result is amazing!
My wife makes custom tumblers and resin art. I’ve seen the dish soap used a lot on that side of crafting. I’m really happy with how it turned out on the RC body. Such a unique design.
That is so cool. I have lots of partial cans of different colors, I have to try this. Thanks for the vid.
Awesome! Glad it inspired you. Those little cans of paint are expensive, might as well use them up. Hope to see a video of your paint job on your channel!
Thanks for the inspiration Such a beautiful painting Job 🎉❤😮 OMG!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it and got some inspiration from it. 👍
SWEET JOB MAN!! Looks awesome and a HUGE thanks for sharing the how to part.. DEFINITELY using this technique on my speed run Ferrari body for my 2wd Slash
Thanks man! I’m loving how it turned out. Glad you enjoyed the how-to. I’d like to see that Ferrari body when it’s done.
Man I cannot lie. That looks so sick.
Thank you! I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Just came across this video and wow man good job. Looks amazing. I didn't know this was possible. I am now gonna try this. Also great tunes to go along with the progress. Subscribed!!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it.

What a great idea! Can’t wait to try that. Think I’ll give that a go on my hornet to jazz it up a bit.
I love the way it turned out. I’m sure it will look great on your hornet.
Crazy ❤
Dig the body. Paint looks awesome man. Nice job!!!
Thanks! I’m stoked with how it turned out. I want to do another one now! Maybe this will inspire me to finish the project truck the body is going on?
Project truck?! Sounds like a new video!
👍😎👍 Very cool dude.
Thanks!
Great tip! Paint job came out amazing!
Thanks! I want to do another one now. It’s addicting.
@@XXLRC I am going to give it a shot. subbed your channel! great stuff!
Awesome, man. Thanks!
look´s great :) very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome technique! I haven't painted any bodies yet, but this gives me a huge confidence boost in maybe going a little wild with my first one.
Hey thanks! I say go for it. This is a really easy technique. Just make sure you do the prep work (cleaning, masking, etc) and it will turn out great!
Awesome tips bro! I'm going to try this and give you a massive shoutout! Thanks for the great video sir.
Heck yeah! Thanks man. Appreciate it.
Dope bro
Thanks!
Just came across your channel. Awesome finish. A process I will be trying out.

Awesome! Thank you! It’s gonna turn out great!
Man this is awesome you definitely earned my sub buddy , as soon as the warmer weather comes around I’m giving this a go .
Fantastic video ❤
Stay awesome
Chris 🤙🤙🤙🤙
Thanks, man. I appreciate that. Can’t wait to see what you create!
That came out great looking. Have a ram body. I want to try this out for my OG blackfoot. Thanks
Thanks! I’ll bet yours will turn out amazing!
Nice
Thanks!
Looks great, I've done something like that with Ketchup.
For real? I would’ve never thought to use ketchup.
That looks amazing. I am now strongly considering this technique for my next buggy body. But perhaps just two-tone. Thanks very much!
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video and it gave you inspiration. What colors are you going to do?
I’m thinkin Tamiya metallic blue and white in the soap tracks.
That’ll look awesome! I like that metallic blue. I used it on my MAXX with fluorescent orange.
When applying stickers or decals or window masks,I always make sure the part I’m masking is as level as posable, then I spray it with windex.then withought removing the windex I apply the sticker…the windex alowes you to move the mark around to center it with out sticking. Once I get the mask or decal where I want it I carefully start in the center and rub the mask to the ends squeezing out the windex..let it dry and continue to the next step…try it it never fails…
Great tip! Just like applying window tint. I never thought about using it in decals before. I’ll have to try it next time. Thanks!
I like that so much
I love it too. Thanks for watching!
@@XXLRC thanks for the inspiration of my next body
Awesome! Can’t wait to see how yours turns out.
the paint came out amazing, I'd like to try some patterns or images,
Thanks! I was thinking about trying some images as well. My wife uses this stuff called water slide paper and I think it could work for putting images on the inside of a clear body before paint.
😂😂 just nuts🎉🎉🎉🎉
That turned out great. Gave me a idea on what I want on the body after this one I’m making now 😂
Thanks! It’s an easy method and the results are nice! I say go for it!
Same. This looks mint
Thanks!@@Sp3ktral22
A truly creative approach, and you make it look so simple. :-) I just spent the whole day painting a two-tone Traxxas UDR body, makes me wonder why all the fuss when it can be so simple and EPIC like yours! 🙂
Thanks! Glad you like it. I'm kinda stuck in a similar situation. I've got a K10 body for my SCX6 and I wanted to do a classic paint scheme on it, maybe two-tone or stripes, but after seeing the results on this one, I'm tempted to do a similar one for it as well.
@@XXLRC It feels typical to the 90's, this kind of scheme. I guess we're growing old. Seems like it was yesterday! I'm sure that no matter what you choose, it is going to be really nice no matter what. Keep it real, man, I'm loving your content!
Thanks, man. I appreciate that.
That's an Awesome Idea for a COOL Custom Paint Job 💯 Thanks for Sharing Might Give It a Try Sometime 🤩👉 The Finished Body Is EPIC 🎈❣️🎈

That is sick! I'm going to do my J Concepts Kraton body like that. That's for the tips! Liked & Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! That Kraton body is going to turn out amazing!
@@XXLRC It did, it looks sick AF. Thanks again for the video!
Awesome!
Awesome video and badass paint job!!! Did you scuff the body before the initial coat of paint?
I did not scuff the inside. Just washed it with soap and water to get any of the mold release off.
Thought it was a crazy idea but it actually looks pretty cool
Thanks! I thought it wouldn’t work either when I first heard of the idea.
Love the look !
But never been a fan of blacked out windows.
Also if you are from the UK you will have a good laugh at the name of the paint 😂
Thanks. Had to have my UK co-worker fill me in. I guess I need to be more careful when selecting paint brands. 😅
wish I could post my car. it turned out great.
I’ll bet it looks awesome! XXL RC does have a Facebook page if you want to post it there. I’d love to see how it turned out.
@@XXLRC posted photo on fb
Disclaimer: no grass, plants and animals were hurt during the process.. 👍
Oh. That's good. Had me worried there. 🥴
Super cool idea! One of the worst thing about RC for me, is painting and cutting out bodys haha
Not my favorite thing either. I’ve found that if you take your time with all the prep work, it will turn out a lot better and unique designs like this make it a lot more fun to do.
Great vid. Never thought about masking with dish soap! Did you spray the soap out before the paint dried?
I sprayed the soap out right after I got done spraying the paint.
Ohh hahaha nvmd. He did.
Smart
Well, that just earned a subscriber. Top shelf job, bud.
How long did you let the base coat sit before rinsing the soap out? A minute or two, or right after?
Thanks so much. Glad you liked it!
I rinsed the soap off right after I got done spraying the paint.
Outstanding. Did you let the black dry before rinsing off the soap?
Thanks! Nope. I rinsed it right after I got done spraying the paint.
Random thought, i would leave the bed of the truck black 😉
That is a good idea. Next time!
stumbled upon your channel because of this painting technique. Wonder how long the paint job lasted. i want to try this. thanks
It should last just as long as any other. I used paint made for polycarbonate. I guess it depends on how hard you bash. As for mine - I haven’t even run it. It’s for my Maxxpede project truck. Thanks for watching!
Looks nice, i need to try this, but how long did you let the first layer dry, before washing off the soap? And that's a sub from me :)
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the sub. I washed off the soap right after I got done spraying the paint.
awesome job man, you inspired me to try this on my own, but i have a question, when you sprayed your first layer of black over the dish soap how long did you let it set before you hit it with the water hose? if immediatly, how did it not wash off the paint as well?
I wash the soap off immediately after spraying the paint. The water activates something in the paint and it cures instantly and doesn’t run off.
How long do you wait before washing out the dish shop after spraying it with black? Btw. the body looks great and I will use your technic for my next body.
Don’t wait. Spray it off as soon as you get done spraying the black. Thanks for watching. Glad it helped.
I believe if you put the stickers in water they will come off and put them on wet so you can move them around if you need to
I think they are regular stickers. I’ve heard of some people using water slide decals, but I don’t think these ones are.
when you remove the soap you wait for the first coat of black to dry or wash it off ? immediately afterwards
As soon as I got done spraying the black, I washed off the soap. No waiting for it to dry.
i realy would of seen it without windows masks though,,, but grats for the job, it really does look insane!!!
Thanks! I’m happy with how it came out.
nice. +1sub!
Thanks for the sub! Glad you enjoyed.
Do you rinse the soap off with the black paint still wet
Yep. I rinsed the soap off pretty much immediately after I got done spraying the black.
How long did you let the first coat of black on before spraying the soap off.
As long as it took me to turn on the hose.
How long do you have to wait before you wash the dish soap off after your coat of black?
I washed it off immediately after spraying the black.
How long did you let the black paint dry before you washed the soap off?
I washed off the soap immediately after spraying the black.
Seems very familiar like a body I painted 3 months ago... Very suspicious indeed. Good minds think alike.
So rinse it before the paint dries?
Yep. I rinse it right after I get done spraying the paint.
Did you let the black dry any before rinsing the soap out. I wanna give this a try on my next drag car body
Nope. Rinsed it right after I got done spraying the black.
@@XXLRC thanks for the info. I will try it on my next body.
Awesome! It’s gonna turn out great!
You should link your other video, makes it easier to find & watch
I did have a card that pops up when I was talking about the other video, but it doesn't show on all platforms. I think only on mobile devices. I've added a link in the description as well. Thanks for the feedback.
How long does it sit before you rinse the soap off
Washed it off right after I got done spraying the black paint.
How long did you wait to spray off the soap? Like right after you sprayed it? You said it was tacky, how did you not wash off the black along with the soap if it was still wet?
Yes. Right after I got done spraying the paint, I washed off the soap. The water does not wash off the paint. As long as the surface is prepped (washed to remove fingerprints and oil), the paint will stick to it and as soon as the water hits it, the paint is activated and will not wash off. It's the same concept as hydrodipping, but kinda backwards.
@@XXLRC awesome thanks
You’re welcome
is it one coat of black and rinse?
Technically it’s one coat, but I did a couple of passes. It’s thicker than I usually go with polycarbonate paint, but I wanted to make sure I got good coverage before I had to wash off the soap.
What a bummer on the sticker sheet dude. Is this normal from proline?
I’m not sure. I saw another video recently with a Protoform body and the stickers weren’t cut out.
Could you do this but put white paint first?
Absolutely! You can use any color you want. Black or white would probably be best.
Or back it with white, 2 coats or 4 coats..
Then black.
Definitely want to back those fluorescent colors with white. They will get super dark if backed with black.
Doesnt the last black coat defeat the purpose of the white coats
Nope. The white is what makes the fluorescent colors really pop. If I didn’t do the white and just went straight to black, the colors would be really dark. I could’ve stopped with the white, but I prefer a black backer. It looks better in my opinion.
Epic 💩
