My Thoughts on Sonic Superstars | Hat Stack Mike

So I've been playing Sonic Superstars a whole lot since its release, and wanted to share my thoughts on this game. I'll be talking more casually than usual here because I kind of just said stuff as it came to me as I thought about the different aspects of the game. I have mostly good things to say, but kind of rant about certain things as well...

I enjoyed the game when I played it on stream myself, but I agree with you a lot. I noted a few things when I played, myself.
I noticed quite a few reused things from previous games, which was something I was thinking they were trying to avoid after hearing the interviews and seeing the promotional material. Tons of reused badniks from... mostly Sonic 2 that I noticed. They said in an interview that Green Hill Zone was gone, but it's there in the multiplayer. Quite a few other things, as well; the Sonic 1 special stage gets reused as the star post bonus stage, Sandopolis Act 2's ghost timer, Sonic Colors' SPIKE power (which is a really neat use, if you've seen it already). Also, I noticed that they decided to use pinball jank in mulitple separate levels, which I love, but I understand not that many people enjoy it.
I agree that the boss fights are really slow. The i-frames on them seem well more than excessive. I understand what they wanted to do, but the boss fights were definitely among the worst parts of the game for me.
I've gotten all the emeralds myself, and I can tell you the powers are pretty neat. They're much more noticeable on a second playthrough when you have them all, since the game prompts you to use them quite frequently. Very fun little addition.
There's... quite a few random glitches. The gross majority of them are not gamebreaking, but there's a few rare ones that you can find (especially multiplayer) that can ruin your day in pretty hilarious days. Keeping in tradition with classic Sonic, for sure.
It's a fun game, but it's definitely not my GotY. I'll probably finish the post-game story, it's actually very fun. Amy's also absolutely *broken* with the double-jump and hammer attack making her immune to certain enemy spikes.

I imagine the reuse of stuff like badniks and Sonic 1 special stage was for nostalgia sake, but yeah I definitely noticed that too.
I don’t remember encountering any glitches, although one thing I forgot to mention is that I’ve only played single player and haven’t done any co-op at all.

I'm not too far into the game yet and the boss battle music already stands out to me 😢

Yeah… I don’t know how they could listen to those and be like “yep, these will be great to have players hear every time they face a boss in every level”.
Are you otherwise enjoying the game so far?

I also found the Boss tracks to be reminiscent of Sonic 4, which….is not a good thing, as you know from the chat we had lol. The bosses in general I’m very mixed about, and I’m currently stuck on the final regular boss. I hate it, honestly.

Yeah, it’s a shame about the soundtrack because there’s some really great stuff in there mixed with absolute crap.
Oh yeah, that final boss… ugh. The first phase isn’t so bad, but that second phase is just awful. It just drags on and on too, just like the other bosses, but even worse in that case.
