Rather both of them (i.e, fasting on 9th &10th a.w.a. fasting on 9th,10th, &11th) are authentic . أن شاء اللّٰه. The former opinion was unanimously agreed upon by all the scholars ( 7:38 ) while the latter was authenticated by some of the scholars (10:10).

Ibn Abbas said, “When you see the crescent of the month of al-Muharram, count the days and wake up to fast on the ninth day.” I said, “Is this how the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, fasted it?” Ibn Abbas said, “Yes.”

Assalamualaikum shaykh, what abt the 9 fasts of dhul hijj? For that also it’s not allowed to do double intention of missed Ramadan and voluntary first 9 days of dhul hijjah?

    • @Ambreen9
      @Ambreen9 Před rokem +1

For the fasts of dhul hijjah, it is permissible to combine intentions for fasting. For example, you are making up your missed fasts from Ramadan. You can combine the intentions because the first 8 fasts dhul hijjah are voluntary fasts (they are not recommended fast likely Arafat and ashura) so you can make up your missed fast from Ramadan. But for Arafat and Ashura, it is better to just keep the fast for the day it is recommended and Insha’Allah you can make up your missed fasts after that.

@عمير yeah, but in the beginning of the video the ustadh says the "fasting of tomorrow" and also says this at the end of the vid. Tomorrow is 9th, not the 10th which is the day of ashura. Even if we say that the day starts from maghrib, this vid was uploaded at asr time on Saturday so i guess ustadh made a mistake.

  • @falsesectslikeshiaarejudeo6543

Allah is best to ask from.
    1. Ashura is fasting of 10th of month of Allah, Muharram!
    Ibn 'Abbas said:
When the Prophet (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of 'Ashurah and commanded us to fast on it, they (i.e. Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, this is a day which is considered great by yeahood and nasarah ? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the next year comes, we shall fast on the 9th of Muharram. But the next year the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) breathed his last.
    - Muslim 1134, Fasting.
    - Sunan Abi Dawud 2445 (Sahih Albani), Book of Fasting
Abu Qatada reported that a person came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) and said:
How do you fast? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) felt annoyed. When 'Umar (Allah be pleased with him) noticed his annoyance, he said: We are well pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our code of life, and with Muhammad as our Prophet. We seek refuge with Allah from the anger of Allah and that of His Messenger. 'Umar kept on repeating these words till his (the Prophet's) anger calmed down. Then Umar said: Messenger of Allah, what is the position of one who fasts perpetually? He (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) said: He neither fasted nor broke it, or he said: He did not fast and he did not break it. 'Umar said: What about him who fasts for two days and does not fast one day? He (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is anyone capable of doing that? He ('Umar) said: What is the position of him who fasts for a day and doesn't fast on the other day? Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: That is the fast of David (peace be upon him). He ('Umar) said: What about him who fasts one day and doesn't fast for two days. Thereupon he (the Messenger of Allah) said: I wish I were given the strength to do that. Thereafter he (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fasting three days every month and that of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fasting. **I seek from Allah that fasting on the day of 'Arafa may atone for the sins of the preceding and the coming years, and I seek from Allah that fasting on the day of Ashura may atone for the sins of the preceding year.**
    - Sahih Muslim 1162, Book of Fasting
    - Sunan Abi Dawud 2425 (Sahih Albani), Book of Fasting
    2. Make intentions for restricted fasting,
there is fasting that is restricted (Muqayyid) like Ashura or Arafat etc.,
There is unrestricted fasting like Every 2nd day or 5th day of the week.
For restricted fasting have intention night before, it's highly recommended.

Imam Nawawi , ibn Rajab and Ibn Uthaymin held it.
    3. Levels of people who fast.
    9th & 10th of Muharram.
fasting 10th and 11th - Malikiyah and shafi.

    A. Not allowed. & say both fasts have their place in shariah.
    B. It is permissible ibn Baz and ibn Uthaymin.
    6. Is it allowed to combine to unrestricted and restricted sunnah?
Combine Ashura and the 3 days a month? It's not intended in itself?
    what?
    7. If a person is a traveller its recommended to fast.
Because you can't bring back fasting of Ashura, it can't be made up, it's rstricted.
It;s view of ibn Abbas, Muhamamd Zuhri and Hasan BAsri.
    8. I will fast on 9th, 10th, & 11th in case sighting was wrong.
says don't say this because it can cast doubt. Imam Nawawi mentions it.
    9. You can fast Ashura if its a Saturday, as along as you fast with it...
Malikis say you can fast 7th day any time.
there is dispute among scholars of hadith Musnad Ahmad restricting fasting on the 7th day of the week, Zuhri , ibn Arabi, Ibn Mulaqqid, Imam Tahawi and ibn Qayyim and ibn Hajr weaken it.
Hakim, Ibn Khuzaimah, Sh. Albani authenticated.
Says restricting 7th day but itself.
10 . Does fasting Ashura expiates major sins?
No, major sins require specific Tawbah.
    20 :00 -
    11. Follow Sighting of the land.
    12. Fasting on a Jumua day!
You can fast Jumua with day before of after it or another norm, like AShura or arafat etc. its ok to fast ti by itself.
Some say it if haram to single out jumua byt itself.
Some say its disliked, - Mathhab Shafi, and Maliki.
Some say it is ok, Mathhab Abu Hanifa, Muhammad Hasan Shaybani,
Prophet peace and blessings be upon him said don't specify jumua unless it's one you do
Al-Bukhaari (1985) and Muslim (1144) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “No one of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts (a day) before it or after it.”
According to a report narrated by Muslim: “do not single out the day of Friday for fasting, unless that coincides with a fast that one habitually observes.”
    13. You can't pay back? fasting of Ashura.
Its a time based Sunnah, so no qada...
    14. Some do festivals, some say its ok others say don't specify it.
Imam Bayhaqi narrating hadith for case 1 thats weak, Ahmad, Zuhra, Darul Qutni, Ibn Qayyim, Jawzi, Ibn Taymiyyah, ibn RAjab, bin Baz, Uthaymin all say its fabricated...
    So no fasting on Ashura!
