@@Loveroffood41 This was based on the 3 issue limited series by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. By DC imprint Homage, which is also an imprint of Wildstorm. Wildstorm was a studio of Image comics before being sold off to DC in 2003. Both Wildstorm and Homage are defunct. So is DC’s Vertigo imprint.

Proof that good material and subject matter with good writing and direction can make a good movie.
I can't conclude whether this film got positive or negative reviews by Wikipedia standards because it doesn't say. Red 2 got mixed ones.
The audience loved this film, including me. The movie critics like Robert Erbet (I think that's how spell his last name) said that Red wasn't a bad film, just not a great film. I hope I answered your question.
Also proof hollywood doesnt make movies with good material and subject matter anymore.
And you don't have to be a fan of comic books or at least know the source material to enjoy it

A very interesting action movie with humor .Willis is on top as always.
I've seen this movie easily a dozen times, it's excellent. Great casting, too.
It’s also one of my favorite DC movies that don’t involve any superhero’s, same thing with The Losers. RED came from a 2003 comic book mini series by Wildstorm and Homage studios, which DC had purchased from Image comics in 1998.

I saw the movie Red. I haven't seen it in a while but it was pretty cool from what i remember. It was really the only on camera work i saw from Bruce Willis from beginning to end. I tried watching him in The Sixth Sense but i tapped out of it halfway. Same with watching him in the movie The Kid. The only work I've seen from him as a kid, that i liked was Over the Hedge. But going back to Red, i thought it was a pretty cool movie.

I think this movie is great, especially as I’ve never seen it before, but I think it turned very dark very quickly when Bruce Willis is that the C I A guys house threatening his family, LOL.
He never had any intention of harming the family. It was his method of getting the information to the CIA guy.
