I grew up mennonite. I always look back at my past and think about how good i had it. You stayed away from all the stuff that depresses people. You have a tight community who is basically just one big family. I hope my children can have the childhood i had
thank you for sharing. Companionship is richer than any wealth.

@@jr3058 I worked with a fellow from the church, we talked for years about it but I looked at it like the Greeks on Mars Hill. One day he said there was a Christmas program and invited me, I thought; got nothing else to do. So I went and saw the proverbial light or hand of God at work. I dropped everything that night and turned to the Lord and I don't look back. In a nutshell but there you go!

I've known two menonites once.. We went to school together and both of them bullied me constantly... Those two were little pricks.
That being said, living a simple life can make you a more pure and thankful person.
Why is this presented like its a bad thing. It actually teaches kids restraint and the value of things. 99% of world history lived like this. Never did any harm to anyone.

I am Mennonite, it’s true, they most likely live in Chihuahua Mexico my parents came from there but I was lucky enough to have parents that didn’t want to live like that, so they moved to Texas and then I was born, still not no a lot of English just low German but most of us in Mexico are just born on a farm and forced to work our whole life with no talking to other people. Y’all are welcome to ask me questions I know most answers.

It's kinda cruel doing this.. She was happy in her world not knowing these things existed... Sad to think her innocence has been spoiled.. So many modern day children get ruined by material goods.. and put little value into people and nature
Yeah this is like a metaphor as well for how social media ruins kids nowdays. They feel like they need to achieve and have the things they see others with online. And that creates unrealistic expectations and sets them up for failure in most cases.
Its not so cruel. Some families want to show the children the "english" world and use it as a cultural experience. Much like how churches will send "youth groups" on "mission trips" to "communities that need our help"
@@boobentobi1737 we certainly do have an issue with the tentacles of social media. The best lesson I have learnt is to equip a growing child with enough grounding and parental love so they are able to be confident enough to by pass the negative aspects of this modern world.. I'm not saying it's easy, just a necessity to avoid some of the pitfalls..

I live in Tennessee and we have alot of Amish communitys in our smaller counties my cousin lives in West TN and his car broke down and a Amish guy helped us get back on the road

I see the hole documentation and it's very sad. That father has also a cellphone and only his wife and children know it. He don't understand how valuable and rare innocent souls are. How strong they will be in future. Our children can't be happy anymore without television, smartphone, fast food, plastic toys. And they are weak and became sick at age.
