Wow. Found this because my transit connect has the same problem, very good work, very good, you've encouraged me to get the mig warmed up and give it a shot..Thankyou..
Really impressed. You made a hard job look relaxed and easy
great video, my 05 connect failed its mot on a hole in the sill amongst other problems. Not knowing a great deal about vehicle repairs i was initially scared off with the thought of repair work on it. After watching this im confident i can give this a crack myself. Thankyou and very nice job of the repair
Thank you.
Top quality work done in your driveway, inspirational and bloody well done. Trouble is you made it look too easy..lol...respect. Going to do the sills on my 98 Fiat Ducato motorhome now..👍😁
Thank you
Could not have said it better. Good skills, made to look easy. Peace be unto you.
I thought this was going to be another CZcams bodge video but I was wrong. That work is some of the best I have seen on CZcams and real life, ( I have a degree in panel beating and welding ) you were spot on about the welding across the top of the sill, space it out and don’t let it get too hot, that is professional work. Also when you drilled the holes on the bottom and then welded them the correct term is “plug” weld due to you plugging a hole.
Great work. Great video
Thank you I really appreciate that.
First class job my friend. Remember forty years ago doing a cortina sill with oxy acet even though l back stepped it l ended up with an inward crease half way along ! Thank god for mig. Great pair of videos from a real craftsman.
Thank you.
Quality work Steve, thanks for sharing.
Brilliant job mate 👍
You're right at the end about the sill outlive the rest of the van.
Top job only found your channel yesterday, watched you repair fiesta as well, great welding mate.
Thanks Wayne. Appreciate that.

Transit Connects sills always rust on the sills. It must have a water trap.
Great job and really good video cheers. I've got to tackle a rotten sill on my Hiace. Only problem is I cannot find a replacement panel for love nor money!
Very nice job.
Baz.
thanks baz.
Nice work
Awesome work. Not sure that van deserved it!!!!
Excellent
Quality job
Good job👍
You joined up the welds very well and dressed them up very well too. You can't even tell it was repaired.
thank you very much. i did try my best on this as it was my first panel repair. its given me the confidence to do some more repairs. thanks for watching and commenting
Nice job
Mate that’s top drawer. You near brizzle?
I’ve enrolled on an evening mig welding course. 10 weeks to learn the basics. Watched a LOT of welding, panel repairs lately and this one is brilliant. You’re not hiding anything, explaining well and seemingly enjoying it. I’ve subscribed to your channel off the back of these two, look forward to watching more.
I’ve a Mazda Bongo to weld up! Two rear arches, inner outer sills and front cross member 😩
Great finished job that mate.
Getting tips for doing the floor and seals in a 88' Suzuki Samurai I'm doing up.
that was a mazing fella
very nice job that
Thank you.
Good job. Doing both sides on my lads van ASAP.
2 smiley transits back in the day. loved them but they also fell apart!
Hi very good and professional job you done. Thanks this video I will try do on my Ford Connect. Which type of welding machine you use? What it's very important during welding? If you can give some tips with be great. Wish you all the best.
Just come across your channel mate
It’s a good channel
Very good job on the sill can you do my sills ? I’ve got the same van
Must be common thing with the connect
Thanks for sharing 👍
Steve
Nice job.. Hear the typical fan belt tensioner noise from the engine.. only replaced one yesterday.. Not a nice job to change
All this detailed work and the van is like a pig sty inside
Gross isn't it.
Just a quick spray of waxoil up inside that sill would be the icing on the cake.
Definatley would have. If it was a good van it would have been worth it but this one had seen better days.
Hi Steve what is the Rust Converter (white liquid) you are using please? Many Thanks
nice welding really, clarks turbo welder with gas? got same one
Looks awesome..Like is got silver side bars!!! Good job ! you should have set fire to his sandwiches though
I am going to try and repair a transit sill. I have never welded before. Can you help with the settings on the welder, please?
why when the van was made it has spot welds now he has to do a constant weld??
Amazing Brilliant job steve as always ! I watched al your videos on the st amazing ! I have the same van ! I might need a small panel under my driver's matt drivers side cut out replaced with a small bit of tin welded on the floor , And some areas of the arches only small bits on two ends done if you can that would be great !
Great job you done here bud TOP ! I'm in Cardiff, can you let me k know how to contact you 💪👌👍
Cheers steve
Gerry
Thanks gerry. I only do this as a hobby so don't take on any work for the public sorry. This was for a family member.
Gud joob
Nice work. What welder are you using.
o g thank you. Its a Clarke 135te from machine mart.
Nice repair but, the top weld would have come out perfect if you had knocked the bottom edge of top side of the cutout sill in a little allway along, like joggling, then welded the new sill to that.
I see this was five years ago ...are you still doing it ...looks good .....😊
Thank you and i only did this one job for family and not done another one.
That was pretty good, are you a panel beater to trade?, what sort of camera are you using as well, quality and lens field of view looks good
Kris Neillie thanks no I'm a window cleaner but cars are my hobby. I used a go pro hero 3 and my phone. Nothing special.
Spark Plug Steve good job, it's something I always want to do, buy an old banger and practice on it
Kris Neillie go for it. Its fun learning as you go.
Great job, how much would you charge for something like that?,
Thank you.to be honest no idea. this was for my brother in law and im only a hobbyist really so dont know what cost would be for it. thanks
Do you do roll cage fabrications ?
iv done 2 but not full build. more modifying and fit
very good job van sounds fooked but sill looks good and it will out last the van iam sure
How many hours did the welding take?
Can't remember exactly as it's been a long time now but whole job was about 1.5 days if memory is correct
Decent job mate but don't wet sand filler, it's porous so will retain the water.
how long did this work take you?
about 8 hrs wrk
Spark Plug Steve thats really fast. Have to do the same thing on my volvo 940, both inner and outer sill has to be repaired
Why don't they put rust treatments in from the factory
Why do Fords rust so bad ? There is no excuse for it these days , most manufacturers seem to have sorted it.
dont do cocky just black shilts and you loos all the bumps
