    I recently turned 30 which means I'm now way smarter than I have been over the past decade. Just kidding, but here are 20 things I learned in my 20s that I wish I had learned, earlier.
    20. You CANNOT use the sense of humor that you use with your closest friends, with everyone.
    19. Microwaves cook kittens much faster than oven do.
    18. It is extremely easy to let your career become the driving force in your life. If you don't want that to happen, you need to be actively working against it from happening.

    Did you know what career you wanted to pursue very young and just went with it? That's impressive that you've been a CFA and CFP in your 20s. I just took level 1 CFA in February and my goal is to have my charter by 30.

    I’m just a bit through this video but I’d say this if it isn’t added already.
    Seek knowledge for the first couple years in this career.
    Approach it like a doctor entering residency.

    I have a question. An insurance brokerage I currently started working for told me that I would be able to get sponsorship for the series 7 exam, but now that I'm in with them, someone told me it's not true, and that they're only willing to sponsor for the series 65 and that the series 7 is not needed. I know that I was initially lied to, but is this a big deal? Can I do just as well with the 65 as I could if I had to get the SIE, series 7, and series 66 licenses with a financial advisory firm? That was my original plan, but this insurance brokerage only requires the life and health license and the series 65 to work as an investment advisor representative.

      You need your 7 in this career.
      I’d do anything I can to get that. It will multiply your job opportunities and opportunities as a solo practitioner by like
      100 lol

      @@devlinmorales what can I do to get it? Is your firm hiring? There seems to always be something that stops me from getting it. For right now, I need a remote firm that will sponsor me to get it. I'm not sure why most of these financial services companies don't sponsor for it.

    Hello Just found your channel and it has been so helpful, So I am 18 and about to go into University to study computer science and I love Technology but I also really love Finance and would love to work in the Finance industry one day( Hopefully become a portfolio manager) but I need some advice on how to properly merge my degree in computer science with my love for Finance

      Thats a tricky one, but many people have done it. Probably start out getting the degree but with some relevant finance club experience in University. A finance club on a resume can be big for getting finance related roles after college.

    I live in a country where exchange rate are high. Our household's 3 month salary is equivalent to $1600 so my plan was to study for 3-4 months before registering for the exam but within those3-4 months I have to solve CFA institute questions to determine if I can take the exam. Is it possible to get the CFA material without investing $1600?

    To condense my question, is it advisable to become an investment advisor representative, or do I need to continue my search for a company that would allow me to become a financial advisor? It's been my dream for a while to become a financial advisor, but now I'm being told that I should forget about the series 7, and that the series 65 is the way.

    • @straighttalks-ajsrmek323
      @straighttalks-ajsrmek323  Před 4 měsíci

      Both are fine options depending on what type of work you want to do! If you want to be an advisor, get the 7 and apply for financial planning roles.

      @@straighttalks-ajsrmek323 which one between the series 7 and the series 65 is more useful to have? The man was telling me that nowadays the series 7 isn't that useful. He said I'm probably not going to sell options, etc...and he overall just said that the series 7 isn't needed. He asked me why I would want to take 3 tests (SIE, series 7, and series 66) to become a financial advisor, when I could just take 1 test and become an investment advisor rep and do just as well with the series 65 as I would do with those other 3 licenses. I'm wondering if that's true, or is he just saying that so that I won't leave the insurance broker company?

    • @shaolinprince777
      @shaolinprince777 Před 4 měsíci

      @@straighttalks-ajsrmek323 the problem is, I can't just get the 7. I have to get sponsorship from a firm, which is very difficult, because those firms are very discriminatory and judgmental, even though I have a bachelor's in economics. The guy in charge of the investment side of things at the insurance brokerage told me that the series 65 is all that's required, and he tried to make it seem like it's pointless to get the SIE, series 7, and series 66. He asked why would I go through the trouble of getting those 3, when I can just get the series 65 license and be as effective as a financial advisor. So, I'm asking is that true, or is he just saying that to try and convince me to stay? To me, it doesn't make any logical sense that 1 license, the series 65, is just as good as the SIE, series 7, and series 66, but maybe I'm wrong. I would like to know your take on that. I care about which path will lead me to making the most money and the quickest.
