• JOHN F.KENNEDY AT MADI...
This is JFK speaking at Madison Square Garden about Medicare.
Love this quote, "We aren't able overnight to solve all the problems that this country faces, but is that any good reason why we should say let's not even try?"
Andrew Xitco V
Let's not even try sounds like Hillary Clinton's campaign slogan.
Amen a thousand times over!
Man was a GREAT. Genius.
Try reading that Constitution, your talking rubbish.
Ask not what FOX News would say of JFK; ask what JFK would say of FOX News...
Isn’t it a damned shame that we are still arguing about this very same thing today?
Remember, this was BEFORE 1965 and the OPEN IMMIGRATION ACT.
That single piece of legislation was the turning point for America. It was also BEFORE THE GREAT SOCIETY of LBJ.......not so great. Let us examine the TRUE history of America. JFK was a dynamic man but at that time SO WAS AMERICA. No longer....
When the Gov is Corrupt.
Insane.
We're still arguing about the same thing WITHIN the "Democratic" party which views politics like this as "radical left" and unacceptable.
We have these debates in the primaries and then choose between neoliberalism (the ideology of Regan and Thatcher) and fascism in the general elections now.
We haven't polarized as a country. Both parties have moved _right!_

All 3 of the Kennedy men who went into politics gave great speeches.
He gave a damn, didn't use teleprompters, made eye contact with the people, and responded to them.
Something foreign to modern political hacks: he cared...
Oh my god... my heart is bursting with love and admiration bec I'm almost 71 and knew this man was so much more than the shallow playboy that mainstream media harps on and that younger generations only know. THIS is the real John F. Kennedy.

He also had great young advisors. He knew how to work with his people and respect their talents.

Yes a great intellectual and humanitarian for all people
" ICH BIN EIN BERLINER"
I love how he spoke to the people. He didn't need to claim to speak for the people. He asked for their help, and tried to empower them by reminding them that they have the right to petition their government and help out for a worthy cause. Boy, is this lacking in modern politics - and not just in America

most people in the United States don't know our own history in fact most people from other countries know our history better than we do
Liberalism is what has made this country the great nation it is. A nation that works for the most common among us AND provides paths of opportunity for every citizen, talented or otherwise to improve their lot in life with dignity. We have, as a nation decided to build this nation for our own benefit. Roads, airports, public schools & universities, social security, police & fire departments, all of these are efforts to give everyone an opportunity to succeed. Those who want to tear down these opportunities for anyone, is selfishly trying to pull the ladder up behind them.

He must have come in with notes but this is from his heart. He even has emotion in his voice when he feels it.
We are still hearing “Social Security/Unemployment robs people of their self reliance”. It’s incredible.
This man was so valuable. It’s no wonder he had over a 75% approval rating when he was killed. Have we ever had a President with that kind of rating since?
Approval ratings are misleading. George W. Bush had an approval rating of 90% after the attacks of 9/11. Look how terrible of a president he turned out to be (Iraq weapons of mass destruction lies, economic collapse 2008, Hurricane Katrina disaster improper response!). Now, I know JFK was better than G.W. Bush. But FDR was way better than JFK. And only Lincoln can challenge FDR on best US president ever!
TRUMP is another JFK !
American society is so complicated. I don't know if that's possible anymore. Especially how corrupt pollsters are nowadays. I feel RFK jr. Is rekindling this style.
@robertacolarette1594
: Yes, we have. George Bush, after the September 11th attacks, had an 85% approval rating.
Kennedy has the 4th highest approval rating recorded at 83% in March 1962. W. Bush had the highest recorded approval rating for initially handling 9/11 well, 90% 10 days after that. H W Bush has the second highest approval rating polled at 89% after Dessert Storm proved to be a near perfect and swift success. Truman was the third highest recorded a month after declaring victory in Europe, 87%.
All this being said, Kennedy being ranked up there with these events, and this being mainly due to his general presidency and not a major historic event like the other three, is pretty resounding.
I am truly amazed that this man could make such an impassioned and articulate plea to the people when fighting such constant back pain and through the fog of pain killers. You can see it in his stanced in this video. His back was bad, very bad. And yet, that he could still get in front of thousands and articulate a national issue in such a way is just astounding.
And while under constant threat of assassination by so many from the Military Industrial Complex to the CIA to the Mob to the KKK and other anti-Americans. Man, those threats alone should tell US that JFK was not only on the side of right but was the people's President.

+M Hart Yeah, people today forget how divided the country was on November 21st 1963. It was Kennedy's awful death that moved him into the ranks of the "beloved." A Gallop poll taken at the end of 1964 found that 82% of the American people had voted for Jack Kennedy in 1960... an IMPOSSIBLE figure considering the actual election results that year! Americans developed a case of collective amnesia regarding President Kennedy after he was assassinated. A syndrome which has only increased over time. He was a charming guy, quick witted, and a polished speaker. BUT... He was, bottom line, a politician. All that he might have accomplished, had he completed two terms in office, will always remain the greatest mystery.

I watched the Debate for US Senate between incumbent Ted Kennedy and challenger Mitt Romney. Romney supporters must have been gleeful for a while, until....
Ted Kennedy wasn't doing too well in a debate against Romney, who was looking fit and trim whereas Kennedy looked a bit unwell , even the suit he was wearing for the debate didn't fit well. The questions were back and forth for a while with Romney scoring some points even if only for style sometimes (which annoyed me greatly because that's all that some people need). Then Romney talked about the Education Bill. *BOOM!* Kennedy woke the F up! He starts talking about it in great detail, with passion, about how it will help people. It was remarkable to watch just how well he knew the details and based on that alone, you saw that he really cared about the role of government in people's lives. He also became engaged in the debate from that point on and easily won re-election but it was really great, even a bit emotional to see how passionate that Ted Kennedy was about real issues.

Yes! Exactly! Kennedy was before my time but hearing these speeches online helps me realize what a mess the USA is in and has become. I admire JFK's intelligence. The USA has been corrupted for a long, long time. Perhaps the murder of Lincoln signaled the downward spiral of America, escalating with the very public murder of JFK to Sept 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Central (both shown worldwide... deliberately folks).
JFK can "see" all of this from above, so to speak. I think he is still with us though. America was a great, monumental dream for some. In the remarkable book, Black ElK Speaks, he (Black Elk) said the dream (of freedom for his people) died in the yet another war against Indians, after the Battle of the Little Big Horn ... I forget that battle's name. Point being, dreams of freedom are in all people and I believe JFK knew that implicitly... Back to American Indians, the West, and Lincoln:
I would say that "the West" was lost. Lincoln did not help Native Americans. Dakota38. Think from a Native American's point of view in the 1800's and now, 2018. The West was "conquered" by whites/ Europeans - deliberate genocide, folks. JFK got that wrong, however, JFK did say elsewhere that Native Americans were the least understood group of people ...
I think, nonetheless, that JFK was up against brutal, vicious, treasonist leeches all around him and he knew it. All in all, JFK - you showed the world the potential of America, just like Black Elk. Thank you both!

Bill Smith kennedy didnt want to go into vietnam. racial issues he might have taken a bit on. but things would have definetely been different throughout the 60s
+rAdHominen
Had John lived, it's doubtful that Bob would have even run. He certainly wouldn't have left the administration to run for office in New York. Bob was totally devoted to his older brother, and the Kennedy's were sensitive to the charges of nepotism. John wouldn't even campaign for Teddy when he ran for the Senate in 1962! Had John completed two terms, Bob probably would have returned to private life in 1969.
@@billanthony7896 that was one of the things that they were afraid of JFK 2 terms and Bobby possibly running for president and winning he would do two terms and then possibly Ted running for president winning and possibly doing two terms so you you have Kennedy Dynasty running the country they were not going to let that happen
Sad to say, the world Americans would be living in today, had Kennedy completed two terms, would be little different from the USA of today. Rupert Murdoch would still have moved to the USA and established a media empire there, and the rich would still have learned to use their wealth and power through their lobbyists to lean on politicians to put their interests front and center. Inequality and declining living standards would still plague most Americans.
Just finished a biography of his days leading up to the presidency. This man was a true hero.
$1.25 bought more back then than the minimum wage does today. Believe me, those were better times.
with the cost of living now, 20 dollars an hour would hardly be enough
You’re right. Thanks to the greed of the 1%, one of Reagan’s lasting legacies which has all but destroyed the middle class. Thanks Reagan
We need another JFK!
Who do you think employees all the Middle Class? The 1% were smart enough and took chances to become successful. Back in '67, I was grateful to even have a job at $1.25 an hour while going to school. I worked 6 days a week, 8 hours a day and 14 hours on Sunday. Working at a Gas Station, there was no overtime or double time on Sunday. No triple time on Major Holidays. Sundays and Holidays are a construct in your mind. Hell, Grammar School kids had paper routes now taken over by adults. Gas Stations are now automated and you pump your own fuel. I'm the Middle Class and retired. I own my own home and 5 cars. How? Prior to retiring, 10 years before pulling the plug, I never took a day off, never took a vacation and worked all the overtime offered because I planned on being debt free and paying off my house. It called hard work!
I disagree - As Mark Twain said, "Things aren't like they used to be - and they never were!"
Than k you for posting! Sure miss him and Bobby and Teddy ..... they all really were devoted to our country and to us. It has now been nearly 60 years .....my grandmother was cleaning house for $1 an hour and suffered from angina. I remember them talking about what Jack Kennedy wanted to do for the elderly as we sat there in bass river on cape cod. She made $7 a month from soc sec and was so grateful !
Teddy was a disgusting human being Who let a woman die to save his ass
His entire speech is still relevant today.
Even more so ten years after your comment
If this man lives and completes 2 terms this country would be in a totally different place than we are in now. Not only the country but the entire world would be in a much better place. Intelligent speaking, intelligent policies, how different the world is today.
So true.
Ok this is when leaders were real, advancing the nation, no bullshit.
AUOMAK there has always been BS, Kennedy was far from an exception in that regard. But he was a good president and our leaders should certainly follow his example
Right wing revisionist history would have us believe that JFK was a right wing democrat. Of course, this could be not be further from the truth. Like Franklin Roosevelt, he believed in a pro active government concerned about the needs of the many and not the few. RIP Mr. President
+Johnny Pastrana Very well said.
+Johnny Pastrana: Kennedy was left leaning in his politics. A great President that is sorely missed!
Now the modern democratic party is militaristic and fascist...I support Trump big time...
JFK was pro life, he cut taxes, increased the military budget- he was pretty right wing as is almost every president in American history
KidWithIT is best
For one, he raised military spending for an OBVIOUS reason. The cold war, our relations with the USSR were shite, not to mention then vietnam conflict. BUt we have NO REASON to keep spending SO MUCH money on our military today, the only reason why we do ist so military contractors can keep making millions off of pointless wars.
And for those tax cuts. Guess you he cut taxes to? Not the SUPER rich, just the middle/upper middle- income families.
This is the first time I'm hearing this Speech. This Man was way ahead of his time, and, the reason He is, in my opinion, The Greatest President Of All Time, Given His Limited Time. He believed In Free Market, And, A Small But Responsible Government That's There To Spend, Not Waste, Money, With Minimal Taxation.
True
@@seanohare5488 Thanks for your comment
J.F.K. What a great 1st citizen. Most of what he says is still applicable today. What he does is cut through the differences and reaches us as one people with his vision and positive leadership.
What a class act JFK is (was). There is none in US politics today to touch him. The man is a shining example of outstanding quality, determination, and prestige. Sadly we see today only hubris filled bamboozlers. This is from a citizen of Sri Lanka.
It's 2023 and this amazing man was pushing for a better America in 1962! Absolutely amazing leadership.
the last real president.
Graziano de luca __ ____*JFK advocated for Universal Healthcare, Minimum Wage, Social Security, Progressive Taxation, Medicare, Labor Unions, Public Education and Strong Worker’s Rights.* *I can think of many other presidents that advocated the same things.*
his speech on universal healthcare is just like what Bernie sanders is fighting for!!! Bernie 2020
Bernie is a sap
He was nothing like Bernie He hated communist
"We aren't able to solve overnight all the problems that this country faces, but that any reason why we should say, 'let's not even try?'" It is a start. Let us begin. Let us try. "The business of government is the business of the people."
My wish is that someday Theodore Roosevelt resurrects and kicks the shit out of todays republican party
+LuffyissHere: Good idea. Abe Lincoln needs to do the same!
"BULLY!" ~ as TR was fond of saying ~
Some of the Congressional Bullies on Capital Hill need a history lesson.
Not so fast. T.R. was a Progressive Republican. The real hero, aside from Lincoln and Reagan, would be Calvin Coolidge.
Why wait? Just clone him and turn him loose.
John Morris
Lincoln was also a progressive republican. Literally the first republican president.
Reagan was a dogshit president and a terrible human being. He created todays republican party
Also Calvin Coolidge was in part responsible for the Great Depression
I wish we could have a President like this!!!
*We do.* *Name a single policy difference?*
*****
*Their tax policies are identical.* *Both are against high taxes. Unfortunately our taxes right now are at an all time low, WAY too low, even with a record deficit.* *You can thank Reagan and Bush for that.* *There are several tax charts per president on the “interwebs" if you need a simplified resource.* *Just a quick google search.*
*****
*The average top tax rate throughout American history is around 62%, which is, coincidentally or not, the rate that JFK used.* *The current top tax rate is about half of what JFK thought it should be, which is a ridiculously low 34%.* *You are being lied to, 24/7.*

JFK didnt want any unnecessary wars with countries that didnt attack us. JFK didnt kill 90% civilians with his drone strikes. JFK was pro universal healthcare. Obama isnt. Obama is corrupt. JFK wasnt.
When I was in Junior High School I believed all of us kids loved this president.
Well said...sometimes it's very hard to believe it has been 50 years since that brilliant mind was blown to bits in an unspeakable act of political murder.
I find it incalculable what America and the world lost that day...not just a man, but a vision, a direction, an initiative that could have truly changed the world for good - and made it safer for peace. 'We shan't see his like again.
Sad but true
Listening to Kennedy manifest his speech - no teleprompter, no dry aphorisms, no phony baloney playacting. He makes most of today's politicians sound embarrassing for our country. Indeed, the world.
Who's a great world leader and orator today? I can think of a few.
business of the government now has become the business of corporations and that's why regular people are struggling
I'm English but I think that JFK was the one of the best presidents of America. This man was a legend.
Wow! JFK could really speak and capture an audience! Thanks for the video!
FDR tried to pass universal Medicare in his new deal. The GOP voted against it. I’m Canadian. We’ve had universal Medicare since 1965 when Tommy Douglas first passed the legislation provincially in Saskatchewan. Kiefer Sutherland’s grandfather.
Interesting how health care was a big issue even then.
And now politicians don't even talk about healthcare. Even though it's gone up by an absurd amount.
What should a person do if they suddenly need vital surgery to save their life, and they don't have health insurance? Or they are diagnosed with cancer? In a rich country, which has billionaires, there shouldn't even be a debate about providing healthcare for all citizens. I think Ayn Rand rules this country.
THIS IS LEADERSHIP !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not the ridiculous bickering we're getting today. When I watch this clip and think of the political system today I am embarrassed.
JFK was the last US president that summoned (so famously) Americans to ask not what their country could do for them, but what they could do for their country.
He called upon us all to be pioneers as our forefathers and founders had been.
He believed in the virtues of national service. He served in the US Navy in WWII an' was a genuine hero.
He respected strength, commitment and self-reliance, and had no patience for weakness.
He helped pull the world back from the nuclear abyss in 1962.
The thing he has that others don't is that when he speaks you believe him. Rare for a politician.
Quite the impassioned speech.....given he came from wealth his ability to speak for the not so wealthy was very honorable 👍
One of the things I love about Jack Kennedy. Was that even he wasn't anti-government, he did have a healthy skepticism about government. He didn't want government doing everything for people but believed it has a role to expand. Freedom to more people by giving them the tools that they need to live in freedom as well. That it wasn't government's job to take care of everybody. But to see that everyone had the freedom to take care of themselves. Which is what made him a real Liberal Democrat and not a Conservative or Social Democrat.
What an incredible speech, had he only lived. I am 80.
This President fought many wars, both overseas in the midst of the Cold War and domestically with the issues of civil rights, fair housing and poverty. Social security and the need for government funding of medical care was crucial to Kennedy’s domestic program. But, alas, this man was killed before he could face these challenges and try to address the plight of the impoverished. Today, a lot of issues remain undone and we face the same challenges as he faced back then. Racism, inequality, brutality and a disregard for social values and institutions. We have lost our way and I can only dream for this good man to be our President again!
Fdr, Truman, jfk, rfk and Johnson would roll in their Graves if they saw what the Democrat party was today.
+Andrew Taylor how do you mean? ( dont know too much about politics)
+Jesse Pinkman Bill Clinton and Al Gore turned the Democrat party into corporate puppets.
+Jesse Pinkman They have over the last few decades turned into major Communists. Over 80% of today
's so called "Democratic Party" are sponsored by the Communist Party USA.
+Janna Watson You are a fucking idiot who has no idea what a Communist is, so go drink a tall glass of shit the fuck up juice.
Wow! Nice language dude. Actually I have done quite a bit of reading on the history of Communism in Russia going back to the days of Marx, Lenin and Engels. I know that todays' so called "Democratic Party" are not the same party as JFK's Democrats. You can look it up for yourself that the Communist Party USA has been supporting today's "Democrats" is well over 80%.
From now on, I would be more careful about the words you put on social media. It just goes to show how intelligent you really are! You are not that bright, I can tell because there are more intellectual words to use other than cursing.
He was truly a man and President no one ever came close to. Even not being an American JFK still lives on in my heart. Those who killed him, soon will wish they never been born. For God loves the righteous ones !
Thank you for posting this.
Man he was just a natural pres. Im captivated by him when he speaks......NEVER EVER! felt this way once watching any other pres since then
I agree
JFK: One of the greatest presidents we've ever had!!
He was a highly educated man who was familiar with America and what it needed, he didn't need notes. I was 13 when he was murdered the day before my 14th birthday and I cried and cried when I found out... my whole family did.
I bet that was a very sad time, knowing when the President died. I was pretty close to 2 years old. I was crying and really didn’t understand… later in life, however, I was even more deeply saddened and troubled by the assassinations in the turbulent 1968 year, when MLK Jr and RFK issue happened and the Viet Nam War was continuing… I really regret those tragic experiences at the age of 6. It all came down to a very challenging time for the USA. 😢
Great to see isn't it? An intelligent man with a keen understanding of geopolitics who could speak without insulting minorities or other countries. And now we have ......Trump? Let us all reflect on the step we may be about to take.
Clinton - OMG!!!!!!!!
He would see Trump as the embodiment of what he was fighting in PT 109 and Trump's followers as the spiritual decedents of the Brown-shirted, jackbooted thugs.
Ideologically JFK is hard to pigeonhole - one of the things I like about him.
Liberal, easy.
Conservative Democrat.
SN2903+ Guess again .... czcams.com/video/O3oY93doosg/video.html
JFK:
On Executive Agencies, Populist
Economically Liberal
Temperamentally Conservative
Socially Moderate
On Race-Relations, Progressive
Foreign Policy-wise, Conservative
I largely agree that he is somewhat hard to pigeonhole, but Kennedy was a New Deal Democrat.
So he was a standard, 20th Century, Classic Modern Liberal. At least, if you HAD to give a label, that one works slightly better.
SN2903, depending on the issues. He was economically Liberal though.
(Not economically Libertarian - he was a New Deal Democrat.)
No teleprompter. Only the truth. He was so passionate and inspiring, and pragmatic, and made us all proud to be Americans. What has happened to us?
He also had a quick wit
What a truly great orator. And remember this speech was given without the aid of teleprompters.
When this man was killed the United States of America was never the same again . Sad this was the last great president we have had. He wanted a better country . Mr Kennedy you are missed and you will never be forgotten
You will NEVER be forgotten---Never!!!!!!!!
Definitely
Yes. It was never the same after that.
The Health Care system in the United States is built for profit, not health. From diet to medications and pharmaceuticals, "this matter" is about dollars in the bank NOT healing and health. JFK is an idealist, absolutely, but when the programs become actualized we continue to "have great unfinished business in this country." Overpopulation, ignorance, and marketing unhealthy foods are the problems which lead to an unhealthy citizenry.
Trump should watch this and realise he is not fit to walk through the same door as this man did let alone hold the same office
And Hildabeast, with her LIFETIME record of felonies and blatant corruption, should?
Trump and his followers are shameless, they would rather burn our Nation down then try to do the hard work of repairing it.
Both Trump and Hillary should watch this video
Yes
Its funny BUT Trumps economic policy is a mirror image of what JFK did.
