Hey Craig! Thanks! Glad they have helped in some way. Got lots more lined up. Got a 15 month old which has made putting out content a little on the challenging side.

Thanks Oli that’s some really great advice. I’ve dropped the odd pin locally but never thought about looking at other local photographers or car pictures to see if their locations would work. Definitely going to start saving some Instagram stuff & adding comments to pins on Google maps as I imagine after a while there will be a few

Great tips! I noticed a lot of places you mentioned were close to you, what if you are in a more remote area, how far would you typically drive to get to a location before you consider it too far? Do you favor the close spots, or go where you know the best results are even if its a few hours away?

Good question, I guess it would depend on the project. I personally would travel for a teyky great spot, but I also think you can get great results in local places if you look for them. Even remote areas have workable options.

If you have a client that's requesting you for a car shoot, then they may have a spot already in mind. But if you're just trying to build your portfolio, then be creative about the spots where you can do a car shoot at. I live in Cleveland Ohio, and I have a friend that lives here also, but he actually wanted to do a car shoot in a remote location where you could see nothing but land because we've done city shoots to death, so we ended up driving 2 hours away to farmland just to do something different. Although I wasn't going to charge him because he was a friend of mine and I wasn't sure if the outcome of the shoot, he ended up paying me for my time for the day anyways.
Another tip would be that location is one thing, but creativity IN that location is another thing. For instance, If you can only shoot in a crowded parking lot, then shoot close, shoot only detail shots or interesting angled shots. You have to get in mindset that if you have an actual client that is paying you for your time and talent, you better produce something that's worth their time and money.
