    I am a big fan of this CZcams channel.
    I am very happy about the P-51, I have it here as a "small" and as a giant and I want to start with the small one soon.
    I have one wish.
    What I liked better about the P-40 videos was that there was no background music when you said/explained something, which irritates me, but maybe also because I'm not a native speaker.
    When fast forwarding/speed build without explanations, the music selection was always very good.

    On models like this where the structures are not pinned flat to the plan especially with polyhedral wings i use wooden door shims to keep my parts off the building board during gluing of the frames. Door shims come in real handy while keeping parts off the building board. A good example is the main wing on a Mr Mulligan keeping the outer panels suspended off the building board.

    I subscribed to your channel because of this build, as I too am building the same plane. You are a good builder, and your details of the finer points are adequate. You could refer to the extra instructions that are in the kit for revisions to the plans for your viewers. Following many of the past builds of this plane on RCG's and other websites, I notice that most of the planes pitch up with full power, not too much of an issue with todays radios and mixing, but the airfoil is really just a "pattern airplane" airfoil and it should not really do that. I had a conversation with the designer, Dave Ribbe, and he said that the wing washout is 2 degrees, and is designed into the wing with the tabs ( don't mess it up with sheeting). A request (squawk)for your next video is to keep the music at the same volume or lower during your fast forward parts please. Looking forward to the rest of the build. THANKS !

So keep doing what you are doing. I think its great. The only thing I can honestly bring up is the audio. alright i'M going to ask a question and I want a real answer , WHY ? current state of RC the kits COST MORE then the ARFs like if i was going to do a P51 i would just order the top model P-51 , its like 1500 bucs if i wanted to build mustang of that size from a kit it would cost more then 1500 bucs and it i dont think it would turn out finshed nearly as nice , I am sorry but kit builds dead so i need a real answer on the WHY ?

    • @BayonasRCWorld
      @BayonasRCWorld  Před 2 lety +2

      First of all kit building is not dead and is actually thriving today, maybe not as it was like in the 80's and 90's but since the shutdown of majority of the major kit manufacturers like , Top Flite, Great Planes, Carl Goldberg, Mid West, Royal, Picca, Global people are still searching for these kits for many reason in their lives majority for Nostalgia since it brings back memories of their first kit, a loved one or just always wanted a specific kit. This is where people search on eBay and sellers would set sales on auction so the price is driven by the people placing bids. These people will play price wars and willing to pay for what they want setting the stage for these sellers and prices. With the rise of balsa prices today kit companies has also increased the prices driving kit pricing up. Sig MFG is another company from back in the day that is still in business today, and the rise in others rekitting some of the old line of kits like Top Flite models which is being sought after by builders today. These kits being reproduced are selling for $450 up to $550 way more than what these kits were being sold for when it being mass produced by the companies do to today's high cost of balsa and supply in demand. For the most part kit building is not dead just not enough kit manufacturers today. Ziroli, balsa USA, SIG is still thriving and now others are jumping on bringing back kits by start up companies. I can't answer for the world and everyone in the hobby but this is my take on this subject in general. Good luck trying to sell a kit for $1500 for you will probably never sell it. Just remember that somebody will pay that amount if they really want it. Not me! Even if I really really want it.

      @@zackriden79 well unfortunately I don't have the luxury to attend such events since I am across the world in the Pacific. Well building is not dead! Dead means done, none, no longer. Yes it may have slowed down like I mentioned because of the shutdown of the kit manufacturers. However not dead! Building today is not for everyone and does take skills which most do not want to possess today because of the growing numbers of ARFs and foam planes avail at a lower cost. Not arguing anything just what I have seen in 41 years being in this hobby. I come from an erra where to fly you had to build what you want to fly! And this will be with me until my last breath on earth. I could build better than most balsa ARF'S out on the market. But if I want to fly in a few hours then a ARF will be in the mix in my Hanger for sure. Many Facebook groups with thousands of members whom build from kits, or scratch build because we love it and it is our passion. Happy building and flying.

    • @bubbalikescorn
      @bubbalikescorn Před rokem +2

      Building is a hobby. ARFs are for people who can't or don't want to build, it's not a hobby for them. There's no pride in flying something that was mass produced and I have never seen an ARF that compares to a scratch build like in this video both aesthetically and performance wise. If you like cookie cutter planes that's great. ARFs are produced in the most cost-efficient manner, none are built like what is in this video. They are typically mostly thin laser cut ply, essentially a Chinese kite with a motor. Most younger people who buy ARFs are just into the flying; it's almost like another video game. I'm not against ARFs and if I had one, it would be a disposable plane; no worries if it crashed. And as for the price, I don't know how you get $1500 for this P-51 build. The ARF version of this kit is $450 at Horizon. It can be scratch built for less than that and be a much better plane. People build because it is a hobby. A hobby isn't done for economic value, it's for the joy of it. Otherwise, why do it?
