JESS and Stephen from Sarasota, Florida have been together for 12 years. They believe that the reason they’ve lasted for so long is because they date and sleep with other women as a couple. Two years into the relationship they decided to explore polyamory and started dating and sleeping with other partners regularly. Currently the pair are in a loving trio with Jessa and also have many other girlfriends and casual partners. Recently the couple started posting content about their poly lifestyle on social media and gathered a huge following on their TikTok account. Sadly, they’ve received a lot of backlash and negativity from sharing their unique relationship dynamic with the online world. Trolls often make the judgement that the relationship weighed more in Stephen’s favour as Jess doesn’t get with any guys. Other commentators have remarked that there must be some sort of financial arrangement to their relationship. One post that caused a huge amount of controversy was when Jess posted saying Stephen was “too cute not to have kids.” Jess may be unable to have kids and is open to Stephen having a child with another woman. Probably in the minority opinion but, good for them honestly. I could never be in a relationship like this but if other people can, why should I hate? The comments saying "they're doomed" or "these situations never work" etc are forgetting that most relationships, monogamous or not, don't last. These people (the blonde girl and the guy) have been doing this together for THIRTEEN YEARS! That's a long time and no one can deny that. If it was doomed to fail it would have way earlier. Clearly they're doing something right that works well for them. I wish them more years of love and happiness together.
That’s what I’m thinking too! Like they honestly seem really happy and their communication seems honestly great. They knew what they wanted when they began dating each other and the fact that they both discussed that they should both be interested in the woman is very considerate of each other so one of them wouldn’t feel left out or jealous. Good on them. They seem to have a healthier relationship than most monogamous couples and im saying this as someone who is pretty iffy of the idea. I hope they have a great life together.

Considering the original couple has stayed together for 13 years, married for 12, and dated bi women for almost 12 years: we have to recognize that they have lasted much longer than the average of heterosexual marriages (about 8 years). I have been in a heterosexual marriage myself for almost 20 years and have no desire to change that, but I respect the fact that the poly couple's marriage has lasted longer than most marriages.

There is no such thing as a perfect partner, yet everyone is perfect, therefore we should not be asking our partners to use our definition of perfection to decide how it is they will live their own lives. It's been my experience that a 4 person poly has the best chance of long term because each individual has another partner and that is the balance.
