Personally, I always had the theory that the Ten Rings are Psuedo Infinity Stones. Ones created by perhaps Asgardians to compete with the Infinity stones but were never as powerful.
When I found out the rings had powers, I was annoyed because I have my own universe of heroes that I'm trying to bring to life and one one of my heroes has power rings.
