Albany has definitely fell on hard times. Mostly due to loss of good paying jobs. Over the past 30 some year's Albany has lost over 10,000 factory job's. Places like Cooper tires , McGregor golf , Bob's Candie's , Coates &Clark , Jaminson mattress , Delco Remy , Merk pharmaceutical , Cleo...And many more are no longer around.😥
I live in Albany, GA and I am a witness that many of these people need to change I just think that many people don't think that they need to change and, many people have exposure to the world as well as a rounded out education may think that they already know and they don't need to change.
Birthplace of RAY CHARLES. Mayor James H. Gray pushed to have citizens vote to keep i-75 from coming through Albany during his time. I believe this also stunted my hometown's growth.
I have lived in Albany all my 52 years of life and have never seen such a horrible representation of a tour. Not sure why you chose to go through so many neighborhoods over and over and only covered maybe 25% of a city that has 55 square miles of housing, businesses, etc. We only saw a very small partial of south side and east side of you making small and big circles around the same areas and you didn’t go to west and north side. I know Albany and it’s demographics but there really should have been better representation that it’s not all ghetto
I got on here to say almost the same thing. The west side of the city is the "upper side" and the north side is the "middle" side. South and east are mainly the tougher areas. If you return, please go down Dawson Road and the surrounding areas. Albany has its problems, but there are good people there who are trying to make it better.
This paints an inaccurate picture of the entire city when not going to northwest Albany which is the upscale part of town that has the commercial district and most of the best neighborhoods which some can rival areas in north Atlanta. Also it fails to show the main corridors such as Slappy, Westover Blvds and Dawson Rd. Side note: The consistent negative attitudes in general of the city by it’s inhabitants causes them to not embrace the good aspects of the city such as it’s University ASU which I think is the jewel of the city because Albany would really be in bad shape without it’s educational and economic impact.
It could nice. Beautiful craftsman style homes,a nice downtown with empty stores, however the youth is out of control and crime is everywhere! I’m going to blame the lack of parenting. The people there have seem to give up…
It’s basically pronounced Door-tee County . When people here say it, ends up sounding more like Door-dee. Depending on the accent, it can also sound like Daw-dee
The base that closed was the Naval air station base. Closed around 1975. Albany lost a lot of military personnel along with civil contractors when it closed. And after the success of Dessert Storm. George bush did massive base closures and reductions at bases. Albany's MCLB Managed to survive the closures , But saw over 80% of base personal get transferred.
@@andrewslife1979 No problem. The reason you didn't see the public city bus. Was because they don't run on Sundays. And even when they do run. It's horrible hour's. 6:30 am -12 noon. They take a hour and half lunch break. Then start back up at 1:30 and stop at 5:00 PM.

Wow
It won't prosper if the people don't change. There are a lot of broken families.
Exactly!!
You said the truth about the people needing to change.
