    It looks like you're really on the ball with this business. Good job!! It's a needed niche and quite profitable as well. I have a parallel business selling collector car auto parts on ebay. In 5 years I went from selling low value, high volume parts to selling high demand, low volume parts. Income has escalated from subsistence income to now making some serious money. Keep it up!

      @@ShannonElizabethDesign the only thing I can think of is maybe getting word of mouth leads. Whenever I get a piece from someone I ask them if they know anyone else who wants to get rid of old antique or semi new pieces. They usually have a family member or a neighbor to get more from.

    I used to have a neighbour who did this a lot and I think still does it too. He once said he made like £18k in a year and once had a customer who paid £900 to get a piece delivered from UK to France, where she was living. I wonder how does this differ from selling your own handmade furniture though. Do people who buy furniture in that price range use apps too? Is it mostly over the weekend? Do they expect a free delivery because overall price is higher? Is "some" assembly required acceptable? I know you may not know the answer to all of these questions, but if you do, please share!

    • @ShannonElizabethDesign
      @ShannonElizabethDesign  Před 4 lety +3

      That is awesome! Yeah you definitely can make a lot.
      I don't know from experience, since I don't really sell pieces of furniture I have build from scratch right now. However, this is how I would start off if I did decide to sell my own pieces. I would definitely post my pieces on those apps in the beginning to get traction, but also have a website and an instagram showing all of my work. And every time I sell something to someone through those apps I would direct the customer to my website and I would really try to grow an audience on instagram and direct that audience to my website so overtime I would not need to post on those apps.
      I am sure that there are some people that would buy very expensive pieces on those apps, but I would say that the average user would not.
      Definitely, a good amount of selling furniture was on the weekends but some people would come during the week after work.
      I would say that people don't expect free shipping for an expensive piece because shipping is so expensive for bigger items.
      Yes, some assembly would be better because you can say a lot on shipping, but try to make it as simple as possible for the customer.
      Hope this helped :) Sorry for such a long answer haha

    I was wondering how long it usually takes for you to sell an item? You say in the video that if it doesn't sell at least past one weekend, then drop the price. Does it take you longer to sell more expensive furniture? Most of my furniture will be between $100-$400 and I don't know if cheaper furniture sells faster. Also @ 7:45 , don't price chairs too high? What if its a $600-$1000 dollar chair, do people still want chairs to be under $100? Thanks for your video, this is all new to me.

    • @ShannonElizabethDesign
      @ShannonElizabethDesign  Před 4 lety +1

      It would vary, but typically a week I would say. I am not too sure on more expensive items. Although, I would guess cheaper sells faster. I met more free chairs that you find don't really sell for much (that also excludes sofa chairs). A lot of times you will find one or two dining table chairs for free so those are really hard to sell. But I think higher in chairs would do better. Hope this helped :) Yeah, of course. Thank you!!!
