Electro Harmonix Bass Mono Synth Demo

  • The EHX Bass Mono Synth transforms your bass into eleven great sounding synthesizers... from vintage synth emulations to thick, stacked voices to deep pulsing sounds and more.
    Its intuitive layout makes it easy to use and easy to dial in good sounds quickly. DRY controls the volume of your dry bass signal at the Synth Output. SYNTH controls the volume of the Synthesizer sound at the Synth Output. Used together they let you create just the right mix. The SENS control, short for sensitivity, adjusts how your playing dynamics trigger the synthesizer and allows you to fine tune the way the pedal responds to your bass rig and playing style.

    Guys! Showing the pedal in BAND CONTEXT was the best thing ever!

  • @skyviewdesign

    I like that somebody finally pointed out the glaring tracking issues with this pedal. It definitely could be improved and be a really great circuit, but as it is, it's just okay. The tracking on the Boss SY-1 seems better, but again limits the parameters of what you can dial in. The Meris Enzo seems to fulfill all the checkboxes for a good versatile synth pedal, but it's pricey. Having ordered the Bass Mono Synth the day it was first shown at NAMM, I can say it left me wanting more, so while the price is good, you may find yourself wanting something like the Meris Enzo after playing.

      Try the C4, it's quite affordable and tracks very well. And if it lets you wanting more with all the stuff it can do, I guess it's your fault :)

    I've just bought one of these and I absolutely love it! Some of the presets need getting used to as it gives the impression that the device is faulty with the sound cutting out, but once you suss it out it's brilliant. I set it to Acid and started jamming along to Jamaican Funk within minutes. This to me is a far more suitable pedal than my Boss SY-1 which lives in its box most of the time. I am going to be making a few bass videos with me playing along to some of my favourite funk tracks.

  • @birginvlackable
    @birginvlackable Před měsícem

    It totally depends on the creativity of the bassist and the type of things he do with it. In this video they do not show all the possibilities that each of the sounds has with an expression pedal (it's basic to get the full potential of the pedal).
    I agree that it is not the most suitable for very fast picking, but for example I use it to make suboctave pads with my bass and it works perfectly there. Also indicate that with a little dry signal the tracking feels much better and you gain more and more sounds changing the dry/wet relation, the control knob position and the expresion pedal position.

    • @Hitrate
      @Hitrate Před 4 lety

    • @ScaredycatG
      @ScaredycatG Před 4 lety

      Torben Scharling I found a way around it by using the preset. No delay there which is useful. I’ve not had the chance to use it at volume, and yeah, I’m worried about the tracking too - but having not used it in a gig setting...or even Rehersal (damned COVID!) I’m not yet fully decided. TBH I can’t blame you!

  • @guymorrison4800
    @guymorrison4800 Před 2 lety

    I actually got one of these (the joke being to annoy your mates at rehearsals and jams) I must say I’ve found it rather good especially with expression pedal - better than I thought from the promo videos. The tracking isn’t too bad. The one I got rid of was the original ehx bass micro synth - which of course tracks very well being mainly a filter device - very handy for fine tuning your bass sound though.

But it has the ability to detune the OSCs so you can create chords (you can use a specific scale so the pedal will automatically chose the notes corresponding to the scale).

    hmmm...in some of the demos, the bassists don't seem to have a solution for dealing with the tracking, and in some cases it doesn't sound musical. it leads me to question the musical competence of the bassists (and I don't mean technique, i mean artistry and conceptualization prior to playing a sound) and/or the capabilities of this pedal. it is like it can be overplayed to the point of incoherence, and these bassists seem to find that point all too often with their wonderful displays of playing technique. In other words, they don't know this pedal well enough to competently demo it, or it just plain sucks. :/
