  • This was our very first visit to Yellowstone National Park. We hit the hot spots, and saw most of the sites along the "Figure 8" loop.
    Ride along with us, as we show you Yellowstone National Park.

    My mother passed away in October of 2021. Before she passed her and some ladies from her church went on a trip out west. They visited Rocky Mountains National Park, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore National Monument and Yellowstone National Park where she and they got to see the Old Faithful geyser. Seeing this video of one of the places she saw makes me think of her and her love of traveling. Thank you for putting out this video on your CZcams channel. Means a lot to me.

      We appreciate your comment. So sorry about the loss of your mother. I'm so glad she got to take that trip. It truly is beautiful out there.
      We did the Grand Canyon 3 years ago, and we also did the Rocky Mountain National Park this trip.
      That video should be up today, or tomorrow.
      We are so glad that seeing this video, and Old Faithful, brought back a fond memory of your mother.
      Thanks so much for sharing that with us.

    Great video again, Yellowstone looks fantastic. When we were in Death Valley we spoke to a couple who were waiting to take a photo next to the sign and they lived 15 miles from our home, small world. We found through my lens very helpful too, used their video on Blueridge parkway to plan that part of our roadtrip in March / April. Thanks for an entertaining video, you always make us smile. 😁

      It really is a small world. You can be 1500 miles away from home, and meet up with someone who lives near you.
      That happened to us in Florida a few years ago. I think it was the year before last. We were in a store, and met 2 people that lived just across the lake from us.

    Wonderful video! We were fortunate to see Yellowstone and the Tetons in 2018. It made a deep impact on me. I have a hard time finding adequate words to describe it. Such a beautiful area of the country. A showcase of God's great handiwork. We plan to visit Glacier National Park in September towing our travel trailer from TN, Lord willing. I love your wildlife estimates at the end of the video 🤣. And your advice about Yellowstone is so accurate. People who simply look at a map and think they can drive through and see it all in one day are kidding themselves. It simply cannot be done. And I agree about the highlights. Old Faithful is a must-see because it is the default icon of Yellowstone. Anyone visiting the park needs to see it. But Grand Prismatic and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone along with the falls are overwhelmingly beautiful. We hope to see Rocky Mountain National Park sometime.

    We went there several years ago…it was late May first of June..cold, snowing, …I stepped off that little lift up going down to old faithful, kinda hurrying back to the car and fell, caught myself with my hands and knees. My arms all the way up were black and blue, stopped at a rest area a couple days later and the ladies were like …you okay, I think they thought I was being beat up! lol……I live in North Ga….home of the no rain, drought, 90 degrees and up so far this summer! You really need to stay inside the Park to cut down on hours of driving although you covered an amazing amount of ground. Good choice on favorite view. Artist Point is what made Yellowstone a National Park. As documented in the recently published (2022) History book "Saving Yellowstone"", artist Thomas Moran painted Artist Point as a 10 foot tall oil painting that he made to show congress this amazing place and why it should be protected from commercial development. The painting currently hangs in the US Capitol. Moran accompanied surveyor and expedition leader Frederick Hayden and a group of explorers documenting this Wonderland in the Wild West. I enjoyed your video even though we were just there the week before 4th of July. We stayed in Canyon Village in the Park . I recommend it because it's centrally located.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  Před měsícem +1

      Those are definitely good recommendations. Our problem was that we only booked about 2 months before going, and most of everything in the Park was already filled up.
      Plus, it was 4th of July week, and that caused the prices to skyrocket.
      I would love to have stayed in the Park. If I had my choice, I would have stayed at Old Faithful Lodge. But that was just a bit out of our budget, unfortunately.
      This did give us an opportunity to go into Montana, so that we can say we've been to Montana
      Yes, we saw a picture of the painting that Mr. Moran painted. Artist Point is truly breathtaking.

  • @jennifermorris792
    @jennifermorris792 Před měsícem

    Artist point was beautiful. The falls are beautiful and the force of the water is so frightening for me, but definitely pretty and amazing from afar. I am not a crowd fan, or traffic. Seems to be alot of that there, and rightfully so. Thanks for sharing.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  Před měsícem

      Some areas were very crowded, especially around Grand Prismatic, Old Faithful and Artist Point. But when we were driving, we were able to keep moving for the most part.
      You are correct, about the force of the water. When we were at Upper Falls, it was just amazing how much water was going over that thing. It was unbelievable. I would hate to have been in the water, because I don't think a human would survive it.

    • @chrisrenemans5026
      @chrisrenemans5026 Před měsícem +1

      It can be very bad crowd and traffic wise. However if you know where to go and when it’s not that bad. The park is large enough that the more niche areas aren’t crowded during peak times. Then you can go to places like old faithful early or late in the day.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  Před měsícem +1

      @chrisrenemans5026 Yes, that is true. It is a matter of knowing where to go, and when. I think we were at Old Faithful around 4:30 in the evening, if I remember correctly.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  Před měsícem +1

      @user-hj1ji5fv3o We certainly do have some beautiful scenery in this country. You are 100% right. We love the Great Smoky Mountains, and we love the American West.
      We actually did do a video on this topic, showing the 3 modes of recording that we use. I will put the link here, and then I will be more specific as for this video.
      czcams.com/video/wx82-GriDcU/video.htmlsi=XUhMkciNIaaGe3bz
      That being said, this video of Yellowstone, and that of the Grand Tetons, was shot almost exclusively with the Sony AX-43A camcorder.
      While we generally we use a phone most of the time for restaurant reviews, we generally use a camcorder for something with scenery that we need to zoom up on, or that we need to have a lot of steadiness.
      That camcorder has a built-in gimbal, which keeps the videos from being too shaky. That's what we used in Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
      The problem with that camcorder, is that it's rather bulky, and I do have another camera that shoots really good video, that fits in my pocket.
      The smaller one is generally the one we use when we are driving along and have it mounted on the dash. The video of Rocky Mountain National Park that will be coming out, as well as our drive up Pikes Peak, that has already come out, utilizes both the camcorder and the smaller Sony camera.
      I actually do not have any extra or special lenses for anything other than my DSLR camera, which I never use to make videos with.

      @@user-hj1ji5fv3oIt looks like it's not a road, but part of the walking trail that goes around where those pools are at. We never did learn why it was in red.
      I don't know if part of it was closed off, or what. But it was actually just the area you walk around.

    First of all,thank you both for making these amazing vlogs. We absolutely love the Smokey Mountains and tge Blue Ridge Mountains...have never ventured further west. When Steve retires in another year and a half, we hope to visit Yellowstone, Grand Tetons,Rocky Mountain National Park, and possibly Glacier National Park... your videos have helped planning and thanks for noting " We're in the Rockies" fabulous channel. We missed the other name,and not sure we heard it correctly. Can you state the other channel you recommended again? We hope to be healthy to make this trip in 2 years..giving us enough time to save and plan. Would you suggest still staying in the West Yellowstone area to access the park or over in Gardiner? Not sure if its more expensive in the Gardiner area? Any concerns while on trails for Grizzlies? Concerned with not much rangers around. What would you do differently besides another day in Yellowstone? Just curious if you would spend more time in one park over the others? Thank you again! Looking forward to your upcoming reviews in Rocky Mountains and Grand Tetons...just spectacular scenery..fir now we will be coming to the Smokey Mountains..next time in August, cannot wait!

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  Před měsícem

      Yes, certainly.
      The other channel is "Through My Lens". He does really professional videos, and sometimes travels with his wife, but mostly his dad. His channel was very helpful to us, not only for our trip to Yellowstone, but our trip on Route 66 in Arizona, a few years back. He is based out of California, but they travel all over the country.
      I am glad you have enjoyed our videos. Our Rocky Mountain National Park video, should be up within a few hours.
      I didn't see much of Gardiner, so it is tough to make a recommendation about that. We only went a little way into the town, and then back into Yellowstone. Would love to have seen it more. I will say that we LOVED West Yellowstone, and thought it was very beautiful. Lots of neat stores. I would not hesitate to stay there again. I would recommend pricing motels in both places, and making your decision based on what kind of deal you get. The motels in both, are expensive.
      For us, Gardiner was more expensive when we were trying to plan and book a motel. It may not always be that way. We loved the town of Pinedale...Very small and quaint. But it is over 80 miles south of Grand Teton, and over 100 miles south of Yellowstone, so that would not be feasible to travel back and forth. It is a good and cheaper option, if you are heading from, or back to, Colorado.
      We did not do any of the trails. I imagine an encounter with a grizzly would theoretically be possible since they do live there, but probably not likely. I don't hear of many problems arising from that.
      You will probably spend more time in Yellowstone than the others, simply because it is FAR bigger and much more to see. You could see Grand Teton twice in a day, but you'd need at least 2-3 days to really take in Yellowstone, even once.
      Another day in Yellowstone, is probably the only thing I would do differently. I wished I could have seen the Lamar Valley Road and Beartooth Highway.
      Hope you get to make this wonderful trip soon. But there's just nowhere like the Smokies.
