Here's everything you need to know about Michael "Mike" Nice:
1. His full name is Michael Clarence Nice, Jr, and he was born on April 28, 1980.
2. He was born and raised in Port Jervis, New York, and studied music theory at SUNY Oneonta, graduating from the university in 2003.
3. According to Michael himself, he first became interested in children's music while babysitting his two nieces, who like most children of the time, were fans of The Wiggles. Nice became fascinated with the band's music, and realized that simple music for young children could be profitable.
4. Nice released his first single, a cover of "If You're Happy and You Know It," on June 3, 2005. Throughout the rest of that year, he made a living performing traditional children's songs at local elementary schools throughout the state of New York.
5. Nice's first album, Crucial Life Lessons for Young Children, was released on January 30, 2007. The album generated some controversy, as some parents complained that the featured songs taught children poor lessons, but Nice argued that he was employing reverse psychology and instead encouraging children to contradict him.
6. Nice, with the help of his uncle Harry, founded his own record label on September 15, 2008. By 2016, Nice Records became the largest distributor of children's music in the United States and Canada.
7. Despite popular rumors that he dated Taylor Swift, on February 2, 2010, Nice publicly came out as gay. On August 17, 2014, he married his longtime boyfriend, Rick Richardson.
8. On May 12, 2010, Nice released his second album, titled "Mythology Rules" and inspired by Greek mythology. Nice has said that he got the idea by playing Age of Mythology late at night after a show.
9. Nice took a brief hiatus from music in 2017. He claimed it was to spend time with his family, however some speculate that it was due to a drunk driving charge he had received the previous year.
10. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Nice gained considerable traction when he began performing his music on TikTok.
