- Hello CZcamsrs!!! I hope your day is going happily!
Wow do I have something special for you today! Today we are looking at one of famous writer Roger Zelazny, his Hugo-winning sci-fi novel “Lord of Light.” It’s set on a colony of humanity at the edge of space that is also set in the Hindu Mythology. It’s very different than anything else I’ve read. Love it a lot! Check it out!
Here is the award-winning book - www.amazon.com...
Have you read Lord of Light? Have you read anything else by Roger Zelazny? What did you think of it? Did you agree with my video? Anything in the video or the story that you’d like to discuss? Sure; let’s chat about it!
Did you enjoy this video? Glad to hear it! Are you a person who enjoys finding these older books? Then why not hit that lil’ ol’ subscribe button and let's get your fix of reviews of older fantasy, horror, and science fiction forgotten classics? Thanks again for watching and reading!!!
You missed out several of the more wonderful aspects of this work. The quotes at the beginning of the chapters are real quotes from the Upanishads. I think that anyone who has read translations from Sanskrit into English will recognise that the style moves between modern English and “Sanskrit English” (with its stilted grammar) to give you the feeling that you are really reading an ancient text. There are many scenes which are a kind of reflection (mockery?) of Hindu texts, for example the final battle scene which is an obvious reference to the Bhagavad Gita. I really think that this book is severely underrated. The religious parallels are obviously written by someone who has a deep understanding of Hinduism and Buddhism. Even the puns and jokes in the book are just gorgeous! It’s up there in my personal top 5!!
That's cool and I didn't know it, so thanks for sharing!!!!!!
Haven't read it in decades. I need to crack it open again soon. Great video
Yup yup!!
The only thing better than Lord of Light is the two series of Amber. I love it. I give all credit to Ian M. Banks to even get close to it, and Hobbs to make my consider it competition. Maybe Wolfe can stand on equal footing, MAYBE.
Thanks for you thoughts!!!!
Beautiful review. I just read this book and really enjoyed it.
Glad you liked it!!
Great video. Would love to see a list of your favorite science-fiction books of all time
Good thoughts!
Lord of Light made me fall in love with Zelazny. Reading it 20 years after the first time was once more total enjoyment.
I bet!
Same for me. I go back and read it every 5 or 10 years just for the pure enjoyment! (And to visit Sam, who never claimed to ba a god, as we all know!).

Another great review and have helped once again putting this book together for me. I love the blend of scifi and myth. Einstein Intersection is another great myth one too. Thank you!
