  • In this video I have introduced the boiler, and jigged it up with the back end and the front end, it's a pity I didn't get to video any of the boiler making, but the whole of the traction engine is starting to look really good, I'm very happy!! 😁

    I feel sure that whatever you do will turn out beautiful and all made, when I have been cutting gears I would make one out of teflon so I could check that I had it right and do it quick before I made a steel one. It sound as though you may be from Devon, that is also my old home.

      Hi, thank you. Yes, in the coming weeks I will be getting back in the workshop, I have a problem with my right knee joint with a lot of pain and unable to stand on it, I have been fitted with a knee brace to pull the bones apart which I am getting used to wearing and getting a bit more Mobile, but now I am waiting for a new knee joint

      Yes it has had a hydraulic test, but once I get the bushes in for all the fixing points for spectical plates, weyshaft bracket and cylinder I shall have it retested

    Hi Julian. Thanks for all the work that goes into making and editing your vidios, as well as the engine build. Can I ask a question, did you manage to silver solder the boiler totally with propane burners or did you have to use oxy act (or oxy propane) as well?

      @jammymowlam1  Pƙed 4 měsĂci

      Hi, I silver soldered the whole boiler with propane and used the biggest torch nozzle I had as the boiler is all 1/8" thick copper, thank you for watching đŸ‘đŸ»

      @martyncozens5654 Pƙed 4 měsĂci

      Thanks Julian I do have all the Severt burners and propane kit just wondered how much heat was required for an reasonably large boiler as your building. I guess you used a cyclone burner to solder the stays in the firebox.@@jammymowlam1

      @@jammymowlam1 Hi Julian, I am just contemplating making a boiler for sister engine of yours 2” scale Burrell. Interested to know why you say you won’t make another boiler. I presume you mean you would have it professionally made if you built another engine?

    • @jammymowlam1
      @jammymowlam1  Pƙed rokem

      There is a lot of work making a boiler, if ever I make another traction engine, then I would probably have it made professionally, but I am 62 so I probably won't be building another traction engine at my age, I still have lots of work on this one 😁
