  • Across the globe, women account for less than 30 percent of professionals in technical fields. That number drops to 22 percent in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this podcast from the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (SEI), Violet Turri, a software developer in the SEI’s AI Division, discusses the evolution of her career in AI and the importance of diversity in the field.

ESG scores won't improve AI or make it more inclusive. It will only modify the investment structure to favor absolute economic control of any platform by companies like Blackrock and Vanguard. The pursuit of inclusivity was hijacked by the pursuit of quarterly dividends. The ends being sought are far from inclusion. They are purely exclusionary in nature. AI must be open, and available, to everyone, from every perspective, or it will be used to oppress and dominate anyone without root access. The path to a symbiotic future with AI is a path paved, not in regulation, but proliferation. These initiatives are thinly veiled attempts to stifle and monopolize the economic benefits these tools represent.
