This man...Holy mother of God. The intro alone is a masterpiece. The way he sustains that note about 7 minutes into the song is out of this world. I remember hearing this song for the first time as a teenager. 30+ years later it is as beautiful as it was back then. Whoever gave it a thumb down is a sad aberration of a human being.

GARY MOORE & SCOTT GORHAM TOPS!!! I loved Robo and John Sykes , Snowy was an excellent guitarist but in my opinion lacked stage presence live . Gary Moore was bigger then life and was never given the credit he deserved as a top guitarist . He ranks in my Top 5 guitar influences of all time. Hendrix, Prince, Gary Moore, Eddie Van Halen, Ace Frehley.
My first Gibson Les Paul was a Gary Moore signature model Lemonburst . To this day it hurts me that I had to sell it after hitting a hard stretch in life . I wish I could have it back if nothing but to honor Gary . I just go into another place mentally when I listen to his solos on the Loner live on CZcams. I think he was playing a Charvel in that recorded live video. Just look at it and look at the emotion and the playing from the heart . OMG it’s just a brilliant display of GOD given talent

This is from the "Wild Frontier" tour. I know that because I was at the show in NYC. We rented a car in Wilkes-Barre, PA and drove to the big apple. We arrived, parked, and walked to the venue. When we got to "the Ritz", you walk downstairs into the worst firetrap I'd ever seen. Drummer, Eric Singer, now the drummer for "scab KISS" was standing next to me leaning against a column watching opening act, Hurricane. Nice humble guy! An hour later, Gary, Neil, Bob D., and Eric hit the stage and tore it up! One of the best shows I'd ever seen. The highlight was "The Loner." Every jaw was firmly planted on the floor from the opening note until the end of the song.

I found out about Gary years after he passed away. The passion , emotion and you see how much he loves every single note and that's what makes him so special , an ordinary man playing his guitar with love. The thing I love about the guitar is it's the most emotional instrument and Garry knew how to convey his emotions through his guitar to the point it makes those who listen emotional I don't know about anyone else but to me that's the biggest compliment any guitarist could get, it's a shame a lot of today's players think playing 16th note sweep picked arpeggios at 240bpm is good guitar playing but reality on a 53min record the 1st 3mins are exciting and the other 50mins boring! Then you get a guitarist like Garry Moore who can have an effect on you within an 8 note phrase! He grabs you and gets your interest and then takes you on a journey and 40yrs later that journey never gets boring, I'd be happy with 1/4 of the talent he had.

there very early before they opened, (like i always do) so i had hours to loose before they opened the doors in the evening..
there i was wandering about outside.. when i heard some guitar playing ? i followed to where the sound was coming from..
and found myself round the back of the Odeon.. i must have been there for ages, and loving it.. it was Gary practicing
some of the set for the show.. and jamming ! its something ive never, or ever forget !! if only i had a recorder with me ! !

And Clapton twice, who I believe said it best when describing SRV: "Some guitarists are almost channels for the music. They don't pause to figure out what to play next...it just emotes from them." Stevie's solos never ended when you expected them to. Music - clear, relevant, soul-tugging - kept pouring out of him. Guitar & vocals. Gary had that gift as well. Still fun to watch the evident potential when he played with Thin Lizzy!
