Her Mother hoped until she herself passed away. A beautiful book 'Wanda' --unfortunately only in Polish, tells that amazing story. I wish more people knew it. More women. To be as strong as she was. RIP Wanda...

*Great Respects From the People of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Our Love and Respects for her fierce courage and determination, which we know to be so typical of the Polish People. whose Heroism was evidenced here in the British Royal Airforce, Army and Navy, WW2, 1939-1945, UK*

@@kasiam2508 KM, I honestly meant it as praise and a compliment, I love Poles, I have been to Poland twice both times for about 5-days. Maybe you did not understand English humour, we do joke a lot, the bit about Joe Stalin was a joke, Like you I hate the bastard, and surely you know he killed people on a whim, and with no regards for human rights, he ranked equal with the other madman Hitler, the top 2 RAF Squadrons were staffed by Poles, and men who served in the RAF like my father did have nothing but praise for them. An apology is due. !!!!

@@kasiam2508 I am an expert on Poland, and on Russia, and Russian history, Stalin used to spend some mornings signing execution orders, and of course like you I am full of hate towards him over the Katyn Woods Polish Officer murders in which 17 000 Polish Officer Corp died. Poles and Brits are very much alike. Respects.

While climbing Kangchenjunga, 49-year-old Rutkiewicz was last seen alive by Mexican climber Carlos Carsolio. She was sheltering at high altitude on the north-west face, during her attempted ascent of what would have been her ninth eight-thousander. Rutkiewicz was physically weakened and decided against descending. Carsolio said he didn't have the mental strength to convince her to descend because he was weakened as well.
It was thought that her body had been found on the south-west face of the mountain in 1995 by Fausto de Stefani, Marco Galezzi and Silvio Mondinelli, suggesting that she had climbed up the north-west ridge to a point very close to the summit before falling down the south-west side. However, more detailed analysis of the findings by the Italian climbers, such as colour of clothing and presence of Bulgarian-made tablets with the body, indicate that most likely it was the body of Bulgarian climber Yordanka Dimitrova, who was killed by an avalanche on the south-west face of Kangchenjunga in October 1994. It is not known if Rutkiewicz reached the summit of Kangchenjunga. If she did so, she would have been the first woman to reach the top of the world's three highest mountains. Rutkiewicz's body has still not been found.

Glitter Girl Isabelle Unfortunately the chances would be very slim from what I have read another climber passed her on the mountain she was apparently in a weakened state that's the last time anyone saw her alive.

I thought she was cold and selfish. Especially the way she was smiling after leaving her climbing partners to die. She is not the only one. This whole sport is cold and selfish. If you want to live, you can’t think of anyone but yourself.
