    Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on CZcams, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on CZcams. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on CZcams, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
    If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.

    Cool story: The reason Jeff re-recorded Do Ya in 1976 was to “reclaim it” from the great Todd Rundgren. Since the early 1970s, Todd played the song live during his concerts and it became a signature song. Many fans thought Todd wrote it. So, Jeff put his ELO spin on it, released it, and the rest is history. It once again became “Jeff’s song.”
    Jeff wrote both the music and lyrics. The Move version sounds similar but rawer, almost garage band-like, and without strings, of course.

    Shaun, you mention never having coming across an ELO cover. A great one (and so appropriate for Electric Light ORCHESTRA) is "Roll Over Beethoven". I recommend that one for your next ELO listen.

      Agree, but there are several options of live versions, some of which are not at the same level as the studio/album version, so I recommend using the studio version with the original ELO lineup.

      Besides ChuckBerry's _Roll Over Beethoven_ , which is the most known cover done by ELO, they had several others. One is an instrumental, a cover of the classical piece _In The Hall Of The Mountain King_ by Grieg, which is on the album On The Third Day (1973, ELO's third album.) i understand the Who also had a cover version of this. The other two seem to have been kind of staples at early concerts. One is an _amazing_ sizzling hot rocking cover of Jerry Lee Lewis' _Great Balls Of Fire_ that can be found on the 1974 concert album The Night The Light Went On In Long Beach. Definitely a version worthy of a reaction. On the same album there is _Daytripper_ , their cover version of the Beatles' _Day Tripper_ . In my opinion this cover version by far exceeds the original, with a much fuller sound and an amazing string intro. Yes Jeff did a Beatles song _better_ than the Beatles! (Not that Jeff would ever claim that, he is far too modest for that.) This obviously also is a song worthy of a reaction, and I'd love to see one, especially if it was done as a comparison. Just be sure to find the best remastered version, as there originally was a vinyl release of the album based on a bad tape recording. Later a good tape was found, and this has since been used for a remastered version iirc.

    • @lauraallen55
      @lauraallen55 Před 5 dny

      I love ELO almost as much as I love the Beatles but no ELO did not do a better version of Day Tripper. I like it just as much, but there is no Beatles cover that exceeds their original never mind by far. It would be nice if he heard the original first anyway So he could decide what he thinks is better.
