- Dexter Jettster may have directly led to the surrender of the Empire and the end of the Galactic Civil War. His story, The Veteran by Adam Lance Garcia, in From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi tells us how.

Dude ran a café on the main level of Coruscant, even though it looked like a quaint 50’s diner, I bet dude was absolutely loaded with credits while he was in business.
For those who grew up on coruscant Dexs Diner should be like a restaurant everyone knows and all families have been to like In N Out in California
This was almost as tough as discovering and reading the fate of poor Jar Jar. Dex feeling immense guilt for being part of the chain of events for the rise of the empire, and completely losing his faith and will for the next two decades was sad, and it's nice to know that he was part of the uprising on Coruscqnt and was inspired to hope again.
The fate of Jar Jar needs to be retconned. He should be chilling on Bardotta with Queen Julia.
Dex is basically a parallel to Jar Jar in a way.
The Bar 1:42 The Bardottans were probably glassed by Palpatine, being force sensitive means they're competition, y'know.
Crazy to think Dexter is indirectly responsible for the creation of the Empire...from a certain point of view.
So glad to know Dexter survived and was able to play a part in the Empire's Fall. Knowing how Prequel and Sequel characters who would have been alive in the Original Trilogy playing a part for the good guys or bad guys is a good way of adding more character to them!
Dex out there being the best he can even when he's unaware of such.
This reminds me of the Alphabet Squad plot point, where imperial bureaucracy was designed in such a way that everyone who worked for the Empire in anyway was guilty of some war crimes.
Jar Jar is hated by many adults because he gave Palpatine Emergency Powers.
Dex feels responsibility for his role in starting the clone wars.
To be fair, Jar Jar was used like a pawn. Dex was really only helping Obi-Wan solve a mystery that unwittingly started a series of events that lead to the Clone Wars. Dex really had no idea what his little tidbit of information would lead to.
If they made a new holiday special about how Dexter Jettster saved Life Day, I would be all about that!
Went to barns and noble just to read this story :) the story does end with dex and the girl heading back to the lower levels as he tells her about his Jedi friend, obi wan
Dexter Jettster is one of my favourite Star Wars characters.
This is the best video you've ever made. I'm not biased at all.
I just listened to this story! I love that he is so long lived. I have so often thought about aliens and how some must still have memories of possible centuries of history.
Dexter deserves his own game.
Imagine it: Dexter Diner. You run day and night service, getting all sorts of customers and interactions. Their backstories, noting their favorite meals as specials to get them to come back or spread the word. Along the way, you can make impactful choices that range from hiding someone from the empire to shady deals involving syndicates and black market transactions.
Would you play that?
So like Vall Hall-A or Coffee Talk? I'd play that. Especially if it was in a pixel art style with Lofi or electric swing.
Seriously, if Kenobi hadn't found Kamino, Palpatine would've arranged for someone else to find it. He didn't go to all that trouble to secretly arrange for an army to fight for one side of his manufactured war just to have it go undiscovered.
Of course, Jettster had no way of knowing that, so I can see how he could feel guilty about it despite bearing no responsibility even if he had indirectly started the Clone Wars.
I love these mini vids
Absolute king!
Thanks for making this video! I had just asked you via Patreon about how Corascant was taken from the Empire and this addresses that 👍
Another amazing video
Dex caused the start of the clone wars that eventually lead to the Empire… and he also could’ve caused the end of the Civil war and the fall of the Empire.
Something something poetry it rhymes
Somewhere George Lucas is salivating right now
Hope there is more fun “Easter egg” or “detail threads” you can keep sharing with us. These Certain Point of View books are real fun.
I'm just glad he survived all this.
“Well, what do you know???!!!” Love Dexter
This matches up perfectly with what little we heard about him from the Anklebiter Brigade in Aftermath!
Early in this video I was thinking of the Aftermath books, then they mere mentioned. 😊
Didn't even know there was a Stormtrooper being thrown about in that scene. I always focused on the statue falling and the fireworks going off. Perhaps that was an addition to the 2011 Blu-rays. I'm more used to the 2004 DVDs.
It's a new detail introduced in this short story. It wasn't anywhere else
@@CouncilCape897 Then where did Alex get that visual? It looked like it was a subtle detail from the Coruscant Celebration.
@@MCLegoboy Ah, I see it now. You're right. My apologies
I want dex to reappear in live-action or appear in one of the animated shows.
Can't believe they reached out to Adam and let him write a story. They need to branch out to fans more.
Sir, I *pitched* this story.
@@AdamLanceGarcia Yeah sorry Adam thats what I meant.
@@StuartLugsden YOU SHOULD BE! 😜
@@AdamLanceGarcia I cleared it up. I knew you pitched it what I meant was I couldn't believe they reached out to let you tell a story of your own.
@@AdamLanceGarciaoh hey Adam, fancy seeing you here.
Nice hypothesis.
It's pretty accurate.
i do hope we get more story in the style of certain point of view like hera side of battle of endor
I'm surprised (Massameda?) wasn't looked at as an ally to the empire. He was there through all of it iirc
I wonder if he tought about Sav Malagan, when the Jedi Order was eradicated, as example, that the Jedi weren't traitors to the Republic.
TIL there is a Certain Point of View for RotJ.
God I’d love to see Coruscant directly after the death star ii explodes. Make an animated series and call it Tales of Rebellion or something
Well whaddaya know
Wouldn't the title make more sense if if it said liberate instead of conquer?
A restaurant owner was responsible for start of clone wars and fall of coruscant. Let it sink.
Nah. It was the nerfburgers dude.
Please Star Wars explained do fun facts videos on from a center point of view Rotj book please
Must be a Mandela Effect but I do not remember Dexter Jettster with a mustache. Anyone else?
Well, whaddaya know?
Does anyone else think, Dexter kinda looks like a giant cockroach? Imagine going to a 50's diner run by a giant cockroach. Only in star wars could you get away with that.
I mean, aliens are accepted as normal people in the Star Wars galaxy. I think the humans of ours are just too afraid of them to have a good image of them.
Wait. Wtf? Did Obi Wan go back to the cafe to tell him the end plot of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith? How would he know any of his part in the larger context? All he did was ID a dart for Obi Wan as Kaminoan. Lol
It was no secret where the clone army came from.
@@Compucles but why would that be his fault? Obi Wan finding out about it didn’t facilitate it becoming a problem. For all Dexter knew, they were always cooking in secret and the Jedi/Republic mobilized them in response to the Separatists
@@deanthemachine7489 Touché.
Using TempleOS
Is this a joke
Dexster was really a Cameo by Yasser Arafat, PLO & Tunnels.
