- Let's take a look at some of the long lost classic foods of the 1980s! Times have changed and some of them wouldn't work today but I do feel some of them need to be brought back!

I could live in the 80’s for a lifetime. The 80’s and 90’s was the best times in my life.
Same..i really had a magical wonderful childhood. My kids have it pretty good but Im constantly comparing myself to my mother n always feel i can never live up to the woman she was. She was really the picture perfect mother. I miss her so much.
I feel that way about the 70’s , but the 80’s were a fun time.
I was born in 74 so I grew up in the 80’s and I miss those times. My childhood wasn’t very good and that’s putting it lightly. I tried to forget the 80’s and 70’s for many many years. After years of therapy I can now look back at the good times I did have and enjoy the memories. The best times for me were from 84 to 91. Those were the years that shaped my life. I figured out which genre of music really spoke to me. While I can look back and see there were good times I don’t think I would go through it or live in that era forever. I do miss my friends and loved ones that are no longer here. I’ve lost so many loved ones it seems surreal.
We do not call the 80 s crazy for nothing, they where bonkers ;)
Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
You remember Freshen Up gum? It had juice in the middle of each piece and would squirt out in your mouth when you chewed it.

I don't know if this is just my childhood nostalgia speaking, but it feels like the 80s had so many cool things geared towards kids compared to now. Toys in cereal, McDonald's and Pizza Hut birthday parties, Toys 'R Us, skating rinks, rock climbing places, affordable theme parks, etc. I miss the 80s so much!
That's because society is now anti-nuclear family thanks to crooked politician's.
You know that the kid who had a Pizza-hut birthday party was rich and man you wanted to get an invite

I would go BACK to the 80's in a HEARTBEAT ---- everything was so much better and more POSITIVE then!

A lot of people say that it is just an illusion that our brains are making it seem that way, however, all one has to do is take a closer look. Things were for sure less serious, less dramatic. The shows tackled heavy topics, but in a light-hearted way. I watched Family Ties all day this past Saturday and I was entertained. I didn't need to see a cop show that dealt with a child tranny rapping a student. Our media, our entertainment did this too us. If we rejected it as a culture we would have been better off.
It doesn't do much to protect us from the violent people who are getting their kicks watching others be hurt on a "viral" video. The good news is that we have access to shows and movies from yesteryear, and surround our personal lives (literally behind closed doors), that we can feed our minds good stuff.
Save for the HIV and AIDS, I agree. It was a good time. Glad I didn't have to grow up with a cellphone.
Oh man, in a world of anger and ugly, these videos are EXACTLY what we need! I absolutely miss the 80s. Those were my golden times as a kid. 💛

It was a better time when being proud of being American was not only acceptable, but cool. Too much peace and prosperity leads to what we’re seeing today with people inventing ways to make them feel like they’re “oppressed.”

One of my favorite things in the 80’s were the prizes in the cereal box! Pushing my hand though all the cereal to get it before one of my 3 brothers… priceless!!!
I know, that was my favorite part. In the mid/late 70s the cereal prizes were the best. I remember we put together some ship that came in a cereal box. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories. Finding small records in there was fun too.
same here I remember getting little license plates I can't remember which cereal it was but I used to put those on my bike lol.
My jerky sister always did that! Did you also eat all the marshmallows? Lol 😉
I'd dump the cereal into a large green Tupperware bowl and pluck it from the top of the pile since the prizes were always at the bottom of the box, by the time I finished pouring the cereal into the bowl, the prize was on top! Then with my Mom or Dad's help, I'd scoop the cereal back into the bag it came in and put the bag back into the box!
I remember getting towels wash cloths and some dishes with purchase of laundry powder
The 80's has the best music, the best movies and some of the best products.
Not to mention, the best 2D animation. Like the movies made by Don Bluth, who gave us the Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, and All Dog's go to Heaven. Not mention the video games, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace.

The 80's the best time to live, love and laugh every meal was a feast every paycheck was a fortune. Movies were a joy no CG and cartoons were fun gave you hope and you learned. Thanks mate this was the best video and it made my day mate. Bloody hell what a time 👍80's👍

Yeah, no. People were environmentally ignorant and homophobes with the rising of AIDS. Music and hair styles sucked. Internet wasn't around so the medias had the monopoly over the information. Yes, toys and movies were better but that's about it as far as I'm concerned.

I remember the California Raisins singing in commercials. I believe they sang I heard it through the grapevine. Makes sense since they're dried grapes. We had boxes of Sunmaid.

We still have a beach towel featuring the California Raisins from the 80s!
The pink Lemonade Bubble gum was the BEST! The Hubba Bubba soda was FORBIDDEN in my home. But when my parents got divorced my dad would let us have it on his weekends. Oh memories. 😂
I miss the 80s. I was single digits in age... But after the 80s and 90s the world changed in big ways. Things just aren't the same.

My kids were born in '84 and '89. I remember grocery shopping and letting them pick out their own box of cereal and one snack. They'd carry their cereal box around until we came to the snack isle. Then the boxes were dropped, thrown in the cart, or given to me to hold while they made very important decisions. When they were older they worked out deals to share with each other.
Such fun memories. 🤍
Reminds me of how me and my older brother would fight over the cereal when our mom got home from grocery shopping!
I remember Nerds candies and they also had Nerds cereal where the box was divided in half vertically and had two different flavors, one side was grape, the other side strawberry. I remember having it for breakfast one morning and later on I went to the bathroom and my urine was pink and my poop was purple! I showed my mom, who then had my dad look at it too! Lol So embarrassing! Needless to say no more Nerds cereal allowed in my house after that. Thanks for sharing this video! ; ) 💕
Friggin' Pudding Pops! I really miss those and hate when people tell me that fudgesicles or fudge pops are the same thing, they most certainly are NOT.
There was a brief moment when fudgesicles took them over and produced the pudding pops. The fudgesicles themselves are totally different. I do wish someone would bring them back though. Thank you for watching!

Jolt Cola was the drink of choice for my circle of friends in middle school. Usually consumed with a King Size Reese's cups.
Growing up in the 80s. This brought back so many good memories. I remembered every thing shown. Crazy how long it has been.

I was lucky to be born during the 80s and enjoy the good old days.
Me and my mom actually taste tested the Tater skins before they were released to the public. It was at the mall, they asked if we would be willing to try a new product, it had no name at the time and they gave us both a little cup with the skins inside, we both expressed our like for them and then about a year later we saw them on the shelves at the store. We got them and they tasted exactly the same as the ones we tried.

I'm glad I got to grow up in the '80s. I was born in '78 so I got to experience it but I wish I was a little bit older during that time but it was still the best time of my life and this video takes me back

The 80’s were great times. I definitely remember Hubba Bubba soda , Jolt, pudding pies and pudding pops and I remember when fruit roll up’s were actually made with real fruit. The fruit corners were good too. I’m really beginning to like this channel. Thanks for the memories ❤

FYI- a lot of these products can be found in Jordan, MN at 'Minnesota's Largest Candy Store".... it's a huge yellow barn that has been converted into a massive candy/food/bake shop (they also sell a lot of pumpkins in the fall & jigsaw puzzles) this place is insane- they have things like bacon-flavored gum & soda, chocolate-covered potato chips & beet-flavored licorice! As well as having fresh meats, cheeses, baked pies & pickled foods. -I highly recommend going there; make a day out of it & bring the kids. You won't be sorry.......It's AWESOME!

What a coincidence, I was just watching last night a PBS episode from the Minnesota pbs station online about this candy store. I really want to go and I’ve never even been to Minnesota, I just randomly picked a pbs station and watched about local things in the area
There is such a store in greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada
An 80’s child myself. It makes me so sad that kids hardly trick or treat anymore. When did this start? We had so much fun going house to house with all our friends. We rarely had adults with us, usually it was someone’s big brother or sister going are with us kids.

I remember being at a soup kitchen with my mom in the 80’s and a nice man standing in line with us handed me one of those big Oreos, I was 3 and that’s a memory I still think about.

I graduated high school in 1986. It was everything you imagine and more! If you haven't, watch the John Hughes movies "Sixteen Candles" and "Pretty in Pink." He captured life as a high school student in that era perfectly.

I totally forgot about Giggles! I forgot about a lot of these actually. I remember most of them & miss them to this day. My husband and I are always talking about how cool it was to live in the 80's. The arcades, roller skating, waiting for new music to hit the shelves of Sam Goody or Camelot's, staying up all night playing Nintendo (while eating/drinking a lot of these sugary snacks!), Headbangers Ball, McDonald's characters (my brother was terrified of Grimace haha), prizes in cereal... I could keep going. Great video!

My Dad was ahead of his time in the '80's. We belonged to a health food CoOp and weren't allowed sugar in the house.
My ability to eat the snacks were limited, but butterscotch pudding pops and Tater skins were so yummy!
In HS, I would stop on my way to school to get a bag of Cool Ranch and New York Seltzer black cherry flavor!

Tater skins were the bomb
It had to have been torture trying to be a health nut in the 80's with all the options we had. I forgot all about apple Slice. That stuff was delicious. What I remember most about the 80's as a kid was all the options we had at the grocery store and the toy isle. The 80's had so many different kinds of toys. It was the last era before the video game explosion (besides Nintendo) where kids were still attracted to plastic figures etc..
These are pretty much all the snacks Mom wouldn't let me have when I was little.

I remember Boppers! They were so good. My mom wouldn't let me eat most of the cereals back then though. I was only allowed to eat Kicks and other cereals with less sugar. I miss the pudding pops and Wrinkles snacks too. Seems like we had so many cool snacks back then but most of them didn't last long.

In 1988 when acid wash jeans were the new thing, I was in 8th grade and it was the first time I was allowed to go back-to-school shopping by myself. I bought a pair of acid wash jeans for $27 and my mom flipped out on me for spending that much money on a pair of jeans!
A can of Coke cost that much today in 2022!🙁
$2.00 in 1983 money is $4.75 today. Yes. That is Very expensive for a box of novelty cereal.

I'm a 90's kid, but some of these evoke nostalgia for me just from the style of the packaging, especially the late 80's stuff that bled into the early 90's. A lot of these things should come back.
Some brands do it once in awhile. I’ve seen Frito-Lay retro package Cheetos, Fritos and Doritos. Same with its sister company Pepsi. Pizza Hut and Burger King went back to their old logos. Hopefully YUM Brands will do the same to Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken with the logos like they did with Pizza Hut.

In the later '80s as a teen I remember loving Hydrox cookies. They were like Oreo's, but for some reason, I thought Hydrox tasted much better. I'd crumble them up in a glass of milk and eat them with a spoon. There was also this fast-food chain in California called Skipper's. They primarily served fish, but also had the best chicken strips! In the '80s I remember the "newness" of using a microwave for things like frozen burritos. I also remember salad bars being popular in the late '80s (the Sizzler in California).
Hydrox were the best!
We had a Skipper’s in the town I grew up in back in the early ‘90s. It closed down around that same time. Couldn’t tell you the last time I saw one.
Y'all...... Those Giggles cookies at the end were SOO GOOD...omg I loved those.
Another good food was Pac Man macaroni n chz, and Quackers crackers - esp sour cream and onion
My Mom made her own Jell-O and Pudding Pops, both, with a Tupperware set she had, from the time I was a little kid. When they came to the frozen food aisle, I didn't care, lol.

New sub here! I'm 50, grew up on the 80's. Great vid! You know what I miss? Those yellow school lunch burritos! I used the veggies from the salad we got as a topping with taco sauce and shredded cheese. I would pay top dollar for for those burritos if I could find them again! ❤

I was born in the early 1980s, and I have very good memories of that decade. The snack food from the 80s I'm the most nostalgic for is Quackers. They were essentially the same thing as Goldfish crackers, but they were shaped like ducks instead of fish. Also, at the time, Goldfish were only available in one flavor, while Quackers had several flavors available.

The McDlts were my favorite. ❤ Seeing these older ads reminds me when I was a kid of sending in Green Giant labels off the can to get the little Niblet plush toy or cutting the paper records off the cereal boxes, lol. Thanks for sharing sir.

The McDLT package separating the meat from the cooled lettuce, etc. really did make that burger way better than their others.

I don't know how Pudding Pops didn't make a profit, since I emptied the shelves of them back then. I ate about a box a day for lunch when I was working my grocery job.

I remember the majority of these products. I wish I had tried the Boppers. It's like there is so much out there you sometimes miss stuff, because you are usually comfortable eating what you're used to. I remember 'Tato Skins'. Now we can do this. Keebler needs to bring back 'Magic Middles' , even if it's for a limited time. I would love to see a seasonal take on discontinued products. Cheetos could've brought that back even now.
I remember the McDLT, the motto was, "Where the hot stays hot and the cool stays cool."

I remember 'Dinky Donuts', but the cereal me and my brother ate up was 'Donuts'. But it is amazing that 'Cinnamon Toast Crunch', stayed around. I know some people that love that cereal.
Oreos, could ring the Big Stuff, could be brought back as a limited thing. They do it with everything else.
Wow, the McDonald's gift certificates! I used to still have some, but now I think someone stole them from me.
Yeah, I got into Reeses Pieces. But yeah, they really took off thanks to 'E.T'. Now, they're still here even though there were times they seemed retired.
I ate 'Giggle', they were really delicious cookies.
Wow ! This brought back so many happy food memories. Jell-o pudding pops, Giggles cookies, Bonkers candy, Tato Skins, Slice were all huge parts of my childhood. Also those little juice carton gums which really made me smile. I adored those ! Also remember Hostess Pudding Pies boy were they good. I believe Tastykake still makes pudding pies today. Another '80s treat I would add to this list is Good Humour's Fat Frog a frog-shaped ice cream bar with rich vanilla ice cream tinted green and candy eyes. They were a favourite ice cream truck treat. I miss them.

I loved Tato Skins! Man, the '80s were amazing! It was the best time of my life. I think a lot of these snacks were just victims of the junk food police. Sugar was being blamed for obese toddlers, and it didn't help that a lot of these mothers were parading their obese toddlers on every talk show back then. Today, I'm almost 60 years old, and I still have the occasional junk snack. I think having an old snack takes me way back! Great video!

Oh man, I miss pudding pops so much. They also had fruit ones named Jell-o Gelatin Pops. My family used to go to my grandparents for lunch every Sundays and they had both. After lunch we'd always get one. I have such fond memories of them. I wish they'd bring them back.
When Bonkers came out there was a Bonkers promo vehicle that came through my town. It was the size of the Weiner Wagon but it was a mobile funhouse and they gave away free samples of Bonkers at the end.
I did and still love the McRib. I remember most of these. I wish some would be brought back and some, well, not so much ha. The pudding pops were always a favorite. We still buy Hot Pockets. Great walk down memory lane.

Christmas 1980 I received a McDonald's calender that had a free item for each month. I had Chicken McNuggets that following February and enjoyed them for years. 1987 McD's launched Shanghai nuggets that came with wooden chopsticks, red sweet & sour, hot mustard and teryaki sauces.
I wonder how big of a hit those Shanghai nuggets were? I don't remember those. Thank you for watching and sharing some more memories!
@@RhettyforHistory I can't find the information when they were discontinued, but they launched in 1987. The chopsticks were silly and wasteful to include. They were only available as 9 or 20 nuggets which means spending more $. The hot, spicy mustard may have been too spicy for the average consumer, but I didn't care for how it tasted. The red sweet and sour sauce was that syrupy kind at lower-end Chinese take-out places. Shanghai didn't beat out the traditional sauces so that could be the reason for its discontinuation. McDonald's BBQ sauce is strange, so they need a bold, smoky sauce like Burger King or Chick-Fil-A. If an item doesn't sell enough units, they pull it.
I thought I was the only one who remembered the Chinese style McNuggets. I remember the chopsticks, but I didn't know how to use them back then so they were useless. I only had the teriyaki and remember liking them.
I remember the Shanghai nuggets. We waited and waited for them to come to our McDonald’s in our small town!

My dad worked at Safeway grocery store and he used to bring home cases of out dated Hostess pies! We kids were set for months! It was awesome! All our friends were jealous 😂

The movies, music, and much more. The late mid to late 70s were awesome but the 80s were life changing.
There was a peach flavor Koolaid that was great also. Didn’t last long for some reason. That might have been 70’s

@@missiestricklin3364 There is a root beer drink mix from A&W that I’m addicted to. I find it at Dollar Tree, 6/pkg. It says to pour in 16-20 water bottle. I use a shaker bottle, because i like it really cold, and lots of ice, so I only add about 12 Oz water. Since it isn’t carbonated, no burps, either. Love the stuff.

Who remembers Strawberry shortcake cereal? I loved it and Smuf cereal as well.
I remember the “blind” Coke vs. Pepsi taste test. They did it at a local amusement park one summer-you got a prize for picking Pepsi, and they didn’t shuffle the sample or anything from person to person so it was pretty obvious which one was Pepsi. So like any kid, I picked the one that would get me a prize 😅
I loved apple-flavored Slice but thought it was a fever dream since no one I know remembers it. And I still miss the Swiss Cheese crackers. They were delicious.
Sadly, I cannot find Tab anymore. It was definitely the best diet soft drink to mix with Bourbon. Coke Zero is okay, but most diet colas just don't mix well with whiskey or rum.

Cool Ranch Doritos were EPIC!!!!! I must say the other day on a road trip I had a flashback and I bought some Tapatio Doritos, I have not had Doritos in 20 plus years and it took me all the way back to being a kid and eating Cool Ranch Doritos. So cool!!!!

The original Bar None was the best, but that revamped version in the yellow wrapper didn’t cut it!

I wasn't born in the 80s but I love the retro aspect of everything throughout that decade, and the food is on another level.

To really appreciate the 80's one had to have been born in the 70's. I've always felt blessed to have gone through the 80's and becoming a teen in the middle of that decade

I did find a decent replacement for Apple Slice now that Manzanita Sol much more available.
