    Hi, sir. You explain things at an amazing level. In the final minute of the ninth session, you mentioned that you added an uplink port to take effect so the esxi host requires rebooting,you took the 10-minute break, but the continuation video was not uploaded.
    and the topics were 1. Vswitch creation 2. creating vm port group, 3. creating vm kernel port group 4. adding NIC

    One question:- Point 3 video 18:00. The traffic from a vm to another VM running on second esxi host going without touching kernel port?

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage  Před 2 měsĂci +1

      In ESXi networking, when a virtual machine (VM) on one host communicates with another VM on a different ESXi host within the same virtual network (usually referred to as a VM network or a Distributed Virtual Switch (DVS)), the traffic often doesn't necessarily need to touch the VMkernel port directly for data transfer.
      Here’s why:
      1. Virtual Switch and Network Traffic:
      - VMware ESXi uses virtual switches (vSwitches) to handle internal communication between VMs and between VMs and the physical network.
      - When VMs are connected to the same virtual switch (or DVS in a distributed environment), traffic between them can be handled within the virtual switch's internal networking layer.
      2. VMkernel Port and Management:
      - The VMkernel port on an ESXi host is primarily used for system management tasks, such as vMotion, storage access (iSCSI, NFS), and management traffic.
      - However, regular VM-to-VM communication within the same network segment (especially on the same virtual switch or DVS) is typically handled internally by the hypervisor without involving the VMkernel port directly.
      3. Networking Efficiency:
      - VMware’s network architecture optimizes traffic routing to ensure efficient data transfer. Virtual switches can intelligently handle intra-host and inter-host communication based on network configuration and traffic patterns.
      In summary, when VMs on different ESXi hosts are on the same virtual network (vSwitch or DVS), the traffic between them often stays within the hypervisor’s virtual networking layer. This allows for efficient data transfer without necessarily touching the VMkernel port, which is primarily reserved for specific management and system-level communications.
