£33 for 12 drinks?
The 90s sure were a beautiful time to be alive
Get down to Wetherspoons, you'll still get change out of £33 for 12 drinks.
£33 then would be worth more now. Inflation.
@@croonyerzoonyer according to BoE inflation calculator, £65.90 in 2021 when I wrote that comment.
At £5.40 a drink, it’s still pretty good compared to most of England now!
Would have been cheaper than that normally back then too, bars in travel taverns were more expensive.
I just like to get hammered on me own.
Alan's micro expressions are so well done. The more you watch him the more you pick up on them like you can tell exactly what hes thinking. Coogan is a genius.
His reaction when he first hears Hugh talk is brilliant facial comedy acting. Cracks me up every time.
too bad he's a leftist liberal and hates his country in real life. Still, I try not to think of it, as I love Alan.
@@TheKaluNaama who cares about people's poltical beliefs? Seriously, it's not worth even concerning yourself with. Forget who's a leftist and who's on the right, life will be so much simpler.
@@TheKaluNaama pointless comment....too bad you can't see beyond your small minded pettiness
@@Mr_Mz518 pointless? the man is a complete asshole in real life. That's not pointless.
The "now you're talking my language" " well i hope not" line was absolutely brilliant...
Almost every single line is a classic. "Three star!"
“Didn’t even wash my hands, because I’m a bloody bloke!”
Lynn... the unsung hero of British television. ❤
In the finale of season one, Susan yelled at her. I wish it had been Lynn. She endured so much of Alan's crap.
Alan's furtive and half-scared sideway glances at the 'cordless' man are pure acting genius, and for me they pretty much make the scene (complete): they wonderfully convey Alan's out-of-touchness and almost inimical approach to people who behave as they are as opposed to how Partridge thinks they should.
Good summation. Well observed.
I think Its always the subtle details that make this so brilliant for instance the weird noise Peter Baynham does after every laugh on the voicebox 'uurrrggh' and how it visibly irritates Alan.
yeah and the thumbs up all the time. Very funny stuff
Ye-Yeh sound like the girl in The Exorcist..!
.......
.......
*AHHHHH-HAAAAAR-HARHARHARHARHAAAAARR-----EEEEURRGGGHHH*
😒
It gets more apparent each time he does it.
He misses putting the box to his throat when talking and one point but still genuis 🤣
Dr No... Vocal chords
One of the greatest comedy series ever written.
This is still some of the finest comedy ever written. The little nuances on Alan and Lynns faces are what makes it. This is so good.
Lovely phrases, very simple, *very moving*
The thing that sets it apart is there is a running joke but with lots of little jokes thrown in as it goes along.
"Get me a 40 year old scorcher" and do use those words 😀
That's how God made milfs.
Those exact words were in the clip. Uncanny!
I nicknamed my wife the Blonde scorcher after this clip....
@@cacambo589 Not quite. He actually says "use THAT word".
The look Alan gives him at 1:27 priceless
John K haha yes that look hysterical
classic hahaha
“Maybe I should stop making jokes now. Yeah.”
Reminded me of Paul Whitehouse a little
Funniest part of it
“i’ll have a little bit of..... sick. eugh, i’m gonna.... cook all the food” top notch drunken dialogue there
Dr No.....vocal chords
“You sound like the girl in The Exorcist.”
It's one of the greatest lines in comedy. Ever
@@nicksneddon2396 ‘Cos I’m a bloody bloke!’🤣
"Now you're talking my language" never fails to crack me up
Well I hope not
That's exactly what I came here for.
I hope not
I love the way Michael just goes with it when alan orders the lady boys
Cos he’s a bloody bloke
Yep and even repeats it😂
howay the lads man
"cos I'm a bloody bloke"
L - Lager
G - Gin
B - Baileys
T - Tonic
As Michael would say, "canny"
I - Ice
Genius comment. A year late but I salute you sir.
Ahh, back at a time when TV was funny. Now we've got James Corden.
Larry Langer Exactly. Fat waste of space. His success baffles me
Stephen Murray he was fantastic in Gavin and Stacey!
I couldn't agree more!
The Americans have him now, which I think counts as provocation.
The Americans are many things but they didn't deserve James Corden. Poor bastards.
I love how Peter Baynham puts the voice box to his throat to do the little laugh at 1:05.
Yeh I noticed that, nice touch lol
Why don't they just make a strap for the electronic voice box?
Because back in the 90s at least that was how the technology worked when a person wanted to talk they put that filter up to their throat. I doubt itd work just strapping it on, you had to press it against your larynx. @@Competitive_Antagonist
Johnny Malcho well spotted
Love the way he actually forgets to do that until a whole second after laughing.
I ordered a ladyboy at my local pub and was told to leave.
The big girls' bras
Should have gone to Bangkok.
You think that's bad? I ordered a ladyboy in a Phuket bar and got a lager, a G/T and a small Bailey's...
Zzyzzyzzs that is the best comment I’ve ever read lol
I ordered a ladyboy at a bar in Thailand and got bummed :(
Love the way Michael has no problem with a Ladyboy drink combo and can total up so quickly. Trying to get one drink is hard work normally.
"DR No. Vocal Chords". 🤣😅😂😍
Considering he’s just made it up, I love how Micheal doesn’t question what it is he just says “right-o”.
Michael seems like the kind of guy who just rolls with whatever's going on around him. After all, he's seen some things.
Alan’s reaction to good communication with farmers 😂😂😂
A-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha euurrrrrrrrh
"one small baileys please"
I love Baileys even though I'm a bloody bloke
@DF AMO piss kidney is funny 😂
Didn't even wash my hands.. Cause i'm a bloody bloke!
Surprised that wasn't included in the recent toxic Gillette advert..!
(yeah, somebody had to bring that up didn't they?)
"You sound like the girl in The Exorcist." 😆😅😄🤣😂
Simon pegg has come a long way
Pure luck dreadful actor ever watched star trek
I've watched partridge back to back on a weekly basis , never fails to crack me up , its comedy genius , its just to funny
still say to this day that he was then and still is, ahead of his time for this type of comedy
The way the bloke without vocal chords glugs the beer!!!! HAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!
Classic scene. Alan's posture after the 'bloody bloke' line!
Didn't know Sean dyche starred in this
just magic at the end when he walks in the kitchen and shouts 3 star lmao
This same order at a Wetherspoons on Leicester Square (Bailey’s, pint of cheap Lager and basic Gordon’s and tonic) would cost £65.56 today. In a more boutique bar in London this would easily cost over £100.
pure genie us
“Genie us”
You are a handsome girl
The will be 33 pound pleese
Hilarious how the guy steps forward then gives the thumbs up 👍🏽😂
Absolute classic. Never gets old.
Simon Pegg at 12 years old
he has been in a Star Wars... my god that’s good
"33 pound"
So well delivered, hahahahaha
I only paid 25 pound for 3 ladyboys but I hear Bangkok has changed since I last visited.
Tell you what! Tell you what! It's 33 Pounds.
How times change, 4 ladyboy’s sets you back about £125 these days...
@RaoulDuke6666 back of the net!
And how much will the drinks cost?
What a funny story
Haha
I've just said that, I'd be so happy if I ordered 12 drinks and the bill was £33
Hugh Morris.
I've seen this scene so many times and not noticed this before. Brilliant!
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, EUUGGGHHHHH"
Watched this over a dozen times and only now noticed one is called Hugh Morris (Humorous)
Ah! I watched it a bunch too, and never picked up on that. Good one.
Someone else named after Vampiro?
No Hugh Morris was a stupid name. He goes by General Rection now
Poor Lynne, she thought he was going to ask her to play his wife for a second then her face dropped. Very subtle
I think I'll go to my room, and lean on the sink. I have a little bit of sick.
An inventor as well! There's no end to Alan's talent!
"Looks like a woman but really it's a man". "Fascinating creatures".
Like Burt Reynolds!
Michael. Michael. Tell me about the ladyboys!
One small baileys please 😂👍🏻
Finally, yesterday evening it happened:
I went to meet two friends of mine and a few cold ones. After a while The conversation led us into the topic British humour/comedy Tv-series, and if we “had to choose” one absolute favourite out of em all, which series/would that be.
One of them came to the conclusion she held MP’s Flying Circus dearest, the other gal informed us that her choice most likely would be Hale and Pace.
I were in good mood, had some extra cash available to burn, so I found it somewhat interesting and worth try a nonverbal form of answer.
I excused myself and said I’d first just wanted to buy us a new round from the bar and come back with my choice of comedy favourite.
I got in line and when my turn came, I ordered “Three Ladyboys”. The bartender weren’t quite sure if he knew how to make it and asked if I could assist with info on how to make it.
To make it easy, I ordered 3pints of beer, 3 GTs and 3 bailey’s and congratulated the bartender on how splendidly well he had made his first three ladyboys ever.
He then helped me carrying the order over to the table, and I sat down with my friends again.
Contrary to what I thought really would come out of it, I were positively surprised when, after a few seconds of them both just looking at the drinks standing in front of us, when the eyes of one of the two lighted where she shortly after shouted out “I’m Alan Partridge!!”.
Just one of those moments where the mix of good friends, alcohol and a shared fondness of good comedy becomes a short moment of perfection and laughter.
In short:
I’m Allan Partridge is my all time favourite from the world of tv comedy 🤩
Watched this 20 times and still in tears watching his expressions - absolute comedy genius!
Now you're talking my language- well I hope not best two lines in the series
@3:50 "Mr Partridge that's the kitchens......Yeah, I'm gonna cook all the food" XD
“Now you’re speaking my language” class🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
''Well i hope not''
The way he says ladyboys at 3 minutes is priceless
In 1998 33 pounds was a lot for 12 drinks, 4 ladyboys for 33 quid would be a bargain now
1997
stop getting original Alan Partridge episode broadcast years wrong.
C S5 😂
33 pound is still quite a lot for 4 people’s drinks
Youd be looking at nearer 90 quid for that in a hotel bar down south now.
I first saw this about 20 years ago on VHS and I had no idea who Simon Pegg was.
Don't you wish you still didn't know who he is.
@@JSTNtheWZRD No, I'm glad I know him now. I've seen Shaun of the Dead so many times.
@@luvuyonobadula40 oh you dig Pegg, thats cool. I just saw a movie where he and half the cast from that movie were in an alien takeover of an English boarding school. It was very strange and cool. The big guy from Shaun of the dead, I forget his name, played a hippie who camped out on campus while the rich kids fracked the place for oil - very funny.

SIMON PEGG!!!!!!
RIXRADvidz I was the school boy in Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg. Fantastic times . I’m now a H.E.M.S Doctor.
Get me a 40-year old *scorcher* - and do use that word.
1:27 Alan’s face is just perfect
3:29 "I'm confused" 😂
Now your talking my language. I hope not😂
Liquid comedy!
That comedy... was a gooaall...
...and another one..!
Black belt!
Imagine getting all those drinks for £33 and thinking it was really expensive lol
It would be £50+ these days.
The late-90s looks like a financial utopia in hindsight...
Alan's jokes are priceless
Simon Pegg was such a Great colleague when I acted in Hot Fuzz. I was the lead school boy . I’m now a Helicopter/ Fast Response Doctor, commonly known as “ H.E.M.S” . Great memories indeed .
33£ for three Ladyboys. What a time to be alive
"One small Baileys..."- can you even buy a small (or half) measure of Baileys? I thought this was all in (whichever is) the current Weights and Measures Act? If so (and believing that Alan would be just the sort to be conversant with them), this just adds another level to show how terribly petty and pointlessly demeaning Alan is. Love it!
I'm off to steal a traffic cone...
Alan Partridge is a pound for pound, ounce for ounce comedy corker!!!
love this program, might have to get the box set
Alan has a good relationship with farmers, they like him so much that they give him a whole cow, lol
Good one!
*MOOOOOOOO*
"Ya big girls bras"
Three star!
Classic Partridge.
Quality, absolute quality 👍
Lovely stuff, not my words.
When Alan asks Lynn to go down to the casting agency, Montagu plays that part as if the joke is that she thinks Alan's going to ask her to be his wife (which pays off her asking him in the lift earlier on), but the way it's edited the joke never really comes across. Or maybe the studio audience didn't pick up on it
That’s as funny as a pretty woman who is also clever.
I think those layers to UK sitcoms are what makes these moments even more immersive. We don't need a laugh track to tell us when something funny has happened
One of the funniest moments in british tv history
Ball-bouncingly funny. Partridge is top quality.
Now your talking my language....''i hope not'' 😂😂
Ohhhh lady boysss 🤣🤣🤣
Fascinating creatures.
„I was drunk, didn’t even wash my hands, cause I’m a bloody bloke!“
3:00 it’s the way Coogan steps into impressionist mode. Genius.
“00-Feckin-Bollocks! “ Brilliant!
I wonder if he did actually try to “cook all the food”. That would have been worth seeing.
...3 star!!
I still think the Peter Baynham character trolled Alan with the voice box just for shits and giggles haha
Doctor No... Vocal Chords!
That and Ladyboys Always make me snort!
I never made it to this scene cos I always left for the pub to get pissed
AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....UUUHHHHHH...
3:01 Oh lady boys!! 😂😂
That'll be £96 Mr 2023
£420 in 2090
