I love how Jonny in his 50 and still plays like he's in his 49
that is quite a big gap
I love how Thom missed his cue and how the others were instantly aware and adjusted in a song that's teetering on controlled chaos the whole time.
And I feel sorry if someone tries to get his attention or make fun of him, only he can make fun of band members for making mistakes
@@glauberlopes651 Faster Thom
It kinda sounds cool. I've noticed on the recent gigs they have been leaving that "mess up" in there haha.
its actually planned lol
@@iLoudwing I don't think so. They've messed this song up a few times prior where they had to stop and restart from the chorus (they saved it here). Ever since this performance, however, they seem to have kept this extended chorus part where Thom comes in later. It sounds cool, so I'm glad they are playing around with the arrangements of these songs a bit.
Greenwood’s guitar in all it’s glorious fury.
This must be one of the hardest songs to play live, always enjoy seeing you guys kill it!
I'm pretty sure a lot of Jonny's guitar parts are prerecorded loops. But it still takes a lot to put it all together. It's obviously pretty difficult to sync up the beats as well. I'm not surprised that Thom had a hiccup here at the change. It's easily forgivable. I'd love to witness these guys live. Saw Thom solo touring Modern Boxes back in '19 and it was pretty special. I forsee a follow-up record for The Smile. This first record is incredible.
there's no loops here, it's greenwood writing and playing riffs with offbeat delay pedal, so what he's currently playing and the delay plays together to create arpeggios.
check these 2 videos, first one is tutorial on how to play thin thing. second one is less specific to thin thing but explains similar 'trick' jonny greenwood does on other radiohead songs (staircase, identikit and present tense.

@@bitroast thanks for these links. I did watch one similar video of someone replicating Jonny's parts. It's such a cool sound. I should know better than to assume that anything is prerecorded with them. I'm sure it's second nature to him at this point. Always the innovator of these unique tones and tricks.
@@scottkurschinske907 they seem to opt for doing things live and on the spot as much as possible.
i think jonny greenwood's performance of steve reich's "electric counterpoint" is one example of greenwood using pre-recorded material.. i think !!
@@bitroast You're right. But i saw them live in Luxembourg and i do think there's surely a minus 1 track they use.
They know how to make specific tones for guitars and bass and they always match perfectly to one another.
I hope they make more songs like this. The Smile works best when they let loose.
Genius and the best album of 2022.
Post the full show please!!!
One by one is so much better to organise and find etc. Would LOVE for them to put them all up but like this
Best song in the album
Hairdryer
Same / hairdryer for me
Panavision
Claus is objectively correct, the rest of you are just subjectively correct.

Crazy performance. Raw. I totally love the chaos here. And that crispy bass tone.
They play like edgy youngsters and they are very mature now. It’s so refreshing to see you don’t get that often 😂
i love how johnny is in his fifties and still plays like he’s in his twenties
I was listening to this today and thought the same thing.. I thought wow he's still got it!
he still looks like it too
i somewhat disagree, he's still awesome but not what he was when he was younger, just based on the early 90s performances of Pablo Honey and The Bends
@@aleonimation fair enough
Um, I’m sorry as it’s a matter of opinion but comparing Pablo honey to Bends is like comparing two completely different bands in different eras! A series of quantum leaps occurred between every album so, it’s like Spectre vs. ….. something other than creep lol
An aside - Not a big fan of hail to the thief personally but it’s still epic as Ben Hur when compared with…..anyone else around that time? lol. Not kidding though 🧐
thom‘s bass in this is so good
Magnificent drumming, like hanging on to a runaway bus 🚌 all three the best musicians
great s(i)mile!
love this feeling of edginess... radiohead does it so well!
That guitar riff and rhythm section is just impeccable, still amazing to this day.
a whole year, lol
@@evo2542 I laughed out loud at work
Thom Yorke knows how to choose the best rhythm sections
Johnny looks cool with that Les Paul guitar!
This is their best track, a banger 🤪🤩
My fav song in the album 🤩
The Smile in my ears, in my eyes and on my face again in 14 days... Can't wait....
This is so impressive live. I love this song so much
This song , you don’t know what to Tomorrow brings , and you will never work in television again worked very well on my last explosive run 🙏🏻 love the smile 🌝
I do the exact same thing with those three songs!
Running playlist essesntials!
Love the energy of those ones. I appreciate the slower tracks, but I think The Smile really works best when they can all let loose.
Such joy and so uplifting. Please never stop making music you guys..........EVER!!!
I was there, 2nd row on mr Skinner's side. Amazing set 💕 please upload the whole thing if possible
Ayyy me too 2nd row dead centre!!!
Favorite on the album, such great energy
Their best performance.

This kinda Thin Thing will MELT YOUR FACE
Energy of their early days. Love it.

Yes! Great performance! My favorite track on the album with this tricky beat 😊 Please also come to Munich! Its very nice here in the summer!
Wow!
LETS GO. PLEASE UPLOAD ALL OF ITTTTT BODIES LAUGHING IS MOST IMPORTANT
Lovely
Thom missed his cue for the verse? I’m in about 50 secs aaaaaaaand…….THERE IT IS! “I been…………..” *crowd goes nuts / they proceed to tip the scales in their own way! I mean Monsieur Yorke got a mad cheer for muttering “ah been……” lol
Thx the smile for being my RH fix but HOLY CATS the halftime breakdown and the druuuuums to the end ? EHRMAGERD! ❤
I’m still hearing “new parts” in the album every time it gets a spin! 🤘👌🤘
❤️
Didn't really like it on studio but i heard it live yesterday... and it was one of the best songs of the set. Powerful and incredible vibes.
Studio version will grow on you little by little. Those halloween synths during the breakdown are sinister.
احسن اغنية في الالبوم 👏👏
Los quiero mucho
Fierce performance. God damn. The mix is amazing too feel like I can hear the bass here a little better than on the LP.
Come to braziiiiil
Podemos sonhar 😔
Before they come pleassssssee 😭❤️
Some songs on the album remind me to King Crimson's Discipline (1981) and The Construkction of Light (2000)
fucking amazing
💎
Thank you, my eyes have successfully bled out.
Go Johnny go!
dark but real and beautiful
I like this kinda thing.
Wow
Thoms bass is the sick riff in the middle, crazy.
🥂
My dream is to watch them live. Big fan from Lebanon 🇱🇧 ❤️
Don’t miss it!
Great performance🙏🙏🙏🙏
Come to Japan!!!🙇♂️🙇♂️🙇♂️🙇♂️
I was there :)
jg , pickin his way to heaven❤️
🖤 G E N I US ! ! ! 🖤
This sounds awesome :D
I hope you played "we don't know what tomorrow brings" live.
Yelling solid gold at the wrong time is the new thing
Quero ver The Smile no Brasil!!!!!E possível?????
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So many mobile phones 😢...live in the moment.
Pleasseee post Colours Fly, we need a HQ version 💖
Jonny playing the Gibson, so Thom had to use the Fender mustang bass to balance the universe.
🇧🇷
I really like The Smile and their album. In fact, I think the album is exceptional. But I’ve got to be honest, this wasn’t the best vocal performance. The sound levels are good though. The bass is awesome.
Thom always sings like this at gigs and it's annoying imo, we know he can sing way better but he'd rather just goof around instead of trying to sing good
At least he's having fun
@@Teeheehee093 yeah nowsdays thom dont care at all , just having fun
He was much better on some other slower songs
he was spot on at their Luxembourg outing. and yes he is looking happier than his usual these days. good to see him like that.
primavera recordings don't sound well, I was at this concert and Idles' one and both sounded way better live than on the videos that have been posted on youtube. The difference between Idles' Primavera and Glastonbury lives is remarkable.
The Smile is the strongest power trio I've seen since Rush
2:43 killer bass
how I wish I had been there
Vocoder in verse sounds really cool!
it sounds a bit like can. i like it. still waiting for that NIN/radiohead dual tour.
I’d drop $500 on a ticket. But I don’t think Trent and Thom are buddies.
Thaks the smile
ggoodd stuuff

1:33 lol Thom forgot how the song goes
Штуковина!

Nice to see Jonny juicing out a Les Paul
NPCs won't get the syncopation of this song
Jonny goes full Wooten/Abasi.

Amazing! I'm releasing an album soon (in a week), It's pretty unconventional too. It's called, 'Prepsychotic demos'. The idea of the project was to release only songs from before I started taking anti-psychotic medication 20 years ago...

This sounds like a band called Atoms for Peace
That's also Thom Yorke. Were you joking?
Nah, Atoms For Peace sounded like a Thom solo album. This sounds like it's own project.
@@MicahBuzanMUSIC Thom Yorke solo is not as good as any Radiohead album.
This just sounds more like 'a moon shaped pool 2' to me, but not on every song.
If I were to combine the best songs on a moon shaped pool, and the smiles first album, we might have a decent Radiohead album
@@charleskurtz8245 The slower songs are Moon Shaped Pool (Pana Vision especially) The fast tracks like Thin Thing are straight up Hail to The Thief. And I even hear some Pablo Honey in the way Thom sings You WIll Never Work In Television Again. Overall, I think this is the strongest non-Radiohead project they've made. It has Radiohead in it, but still sounds fresh and more psychedelic than anything they've ever done.
great delay pedal trick
first she'll pull your fingers off
and then she'll pull your toes
and then she'll steal the photos
from your phone
but you won't notice
incredible, they wouldn't have been able to pull off those crazy time signatures without tom skinner, imo
Idk, Phil Selway's pretty good too. Radiohead pulled off some pretty cool stuff. But yeah he's good too, don't think they'd work with anyone who wasn't
@@jordanestes1997 nah totally I just mean like they needed a good jazz drummer to pull off shit like this and it totally worked. huge fan of phil and radiohead as well of course
Pretty sure this is all 3/4 just very syncopated
You
seeing this live ruined the recorded version for me, unreal
I went to make a list of household items I might need but that’s when I realized that the first thing on my list was sticky notes to write things down on so I’m making the list here
Sticky notes
Tissue box w/ tissues
Tea light candles
Super glue
100% Acetone
Paper towels
Back scratcha
Double stick tape
Bee 🐝 positive flip flops 🩴
A set of some kind of pegs so that I can raise the back two legs on the one thingy that You put the dishes in after you hand wash them and are waiting for them to dry so that it actually drains into the sink instead of just sitting in the tray getting stagnant.
There is a party for stagnation and there is a party for acceleration so why is there no party for optimization?, here in America anyway.
Lol Didn’t even watch the video this time just jump straight on the comment sections. Oh well I’m sure I’ll watch it later.
Quick update On the peg leg for the dish thingy. I found one of those packs of like 30 odd circular foam pads that are like large medium and small ranging from like 3 inches to 1 inch circumference. I stacked a bunch on top of the other And needless to say it’s gonna be a pretty good summer

Another update

I feel like thom is in physical pain. I could be mistaken.
