- Volvo 950 (960 T5 swap) out in the first snow for this season! What can it do that 850 's, S60 's, V70 's cant? It can drift! Best of two worlds. Five cylinder sound and RWD.

I have the same motor in my Volvo 850 T5 Manual, it's a so nice sound and the power is also brutal, nice car 😍💪
The 960 is a rear drive car ..... different experience i would say....

How u do that? T5 is transversely mounted where 960 has only longitudinally mounted engines.
@@Nudel-nc1cp The T5 engine is just a 5 cyl turbo variant of the 960's 6cyl engine, the same 6cyl is also mounted transversely in the 1st gen S80. As to how, you take a 960 6cyl oil pan and shorten it to fit the 5cyl t5 engine. the same can be done to mount the 4 cyl T4 longitudinally if desired.
In Russia, they ride like this every winter. usually on Lada or BMW, but I personally - on Volvo 745 turbo. Like

Here in North America the 960 had the B6304 in-line six. It was sweet, I always wondered about it’s potential.

This is how I imagine scandinavians casually drift to work every day.
I wish :D Not all of us have rear wheel drive and if you live in/near a city they use salt on the roads meaning you get close to the actual road surface and I would not want to rip all my studs out of my tires :( But the dirt roads usually end up with a nice packed layer of snow that you can drift on very nicely. I used to borrow my moms Mitsubishi Pajero Pinin to snow drift with :P Soo much fun but the short wheelbase makes it very unpredictable...

Lest you think a V70 can't drift, just lock the rear diff and you'll full lock without any problem. Learned that after not servicing the diff at the proper interval...

FFWD to 2021:
Volvos have 4cyl engines only.
They come with an app.
None of them is RWD.
They are limited to 180 kph.
Ridiculous.
Still comfortable and fun to drive though

The straight six thats is in the 960 from the factory is from the same engine-family as the T5. Just one cylinder less. Same engine that later became the T6

How did you placed a t5 engine in 960? Does it fit 960 gearox?
If i understand right, the T5 and 960s engine is the same engine (except for one cyl) so the gearbox mount is the same.
And other accessories is the same one independent of car.
