  • Here's a no BS video on how to replace your trailing arm/rear axle bushings with nothing but common tools a DIYer will have at home. A second set of hands definitely won't hurt for this job, big thanks to IEATCHAIR for the massive assist here. No hoist, torching, pressing, brake bleeding or any other magic tricks required, just a lot of blunt force. All tools required are socialized in the video. Happy to respond to questions/comments. Applies to all Aveo/G3/Wave/Swift of the same generation (2004-2011). The replacement parts used in the video were paid for in full by the owner of the vehicle, no promotional material used here. The bushing set cost just under $100 CDN.

      why go thru all that crap when you can buy a bush pressing tool for 50 bucks and do both sides in an hour crazy stuff.and if you damage the bush housing with drills n hammers the bush wont sit right.

    Thanks for the video.
    Were you happy with the 2 piece bushing performance? Should I just stick with the 1 piece and try to press them in?

    • @416diy
      @416diy  Před 4 lety +1

      M Really the owner of the vehicle is happy with them, no complaints yet. I loved not having to press anything.

    Im having alot of trouble aligning the stud in the middle of the bracket :s

    • @AM-dj4vp
      @AM-dj4vp Před rokem +1

      It turns out that while trying to align the stud in the bracket of the passenger side. I was fighting with the bushing on the drivers side.
      The solution was to rest the axle bar on jack stands and replace the drivers side bushing. Then i was able to install both brackets at the same time.
      Thanks so much for the videos you've helped me alot thanks!

      as long as you have a new nut and bolt it shouldn't be an issue, but you'll have to trim the fender metal to put the bolt through and the nut will then be on the gas tank side of the bracket

    What were the sign that the bushing was bad ?because I think I have a bad one on my cobalt because I have a squicking noise on the driver side and it's very anoying

      On this car, the metal sleeve rotted away, which caused the bushing to sag and move out of position. you could tell something was going on when you hit bumps, and the visual inspection confirmed it. perhaps try lifting the back end of the car with the weight off the axle, then try to rock the axle or use a pry bar to check for free play in the bushing.

      That 2 piece bushing won't last long because it doesn't have the steel on the outside of the bushing
