  • It's Round 7, the finals, of the 2024 January Portland Monthly Premodern Paper Magic Afternoon tournament. The Recurring Survival list has gone the distance but is it a match for the best bits of Terravore Oath and Replenish? Let's go!

And yeah, in G1, I was trying to figure out exactly what is left in my deck. Apologies for the delay!

Overall I really like these series and you can definitely see improvements being made to the videos (e.g. lighting, shaky camera, etc). Keep it up!
This (first) game had me scratching my head a few times though. I wonder what the reasoning behind the Seal of Cleansing on your own Oath of Druids was, it feels like oathing away your entire deck, then Replenishing everything into play (via Krosan Reclamation) is an easy path to victory; granted, I'm not too familiar with the Oath Replenish arch-type.
Then there is the forgetting of multiple Sylvan Library triggers (I tend to put a dice on my deck as a reminder), and not using the Wasteland on the City of Brass while your opponent is obviously stuck on lands. Later on the Oath player just lets the Survival player use his Survival of the Fittest multiple times while having both a Seal of Cleansing and Aura of Silence in play.
Not trying to bash the players here by any means by the way (I fully understand that after 7 rounds, mistakes happen), these videos are fun to watch and also show the casual nature of the premodern format, which for me personally is one of its biggest strengths.

The 45 degree 'tap' always makes me think of players gaming for that adjustment back to untapped in convoluted board states and makes me look out more for cheating.
Not that David was of course, but to me it's not tapped properly.

Love the format and the content!
Any chance we could get the overlay with the cards in hand like cardmarket does?
    Again, great work 👍

I wish! That level of production either requires the players to take pauses to show the camera their draws or have hand spotters like at the PT. Not super feasible for our monthly tournaments at the brewpub, but I would love to do a series like that in an actual studio space some day…

@@Heavy_Play I can imagine it would take a lot of work 🥲 maybe then just adding the deck list from MTG deck and similar?
I am new to the format and I don't always recognise every single card during the deck presentation 👍
