    Hey nice to see you again, hope Will is doing fine, probably loving the freedom no doubt! Enjoyed the Vlog, just shows you even if you have 4x4 you can still get stuck! Its all about Tyres! Best wishes and hope to see more content soon!

      Hi Michael, yes we could have done with mud tyres, but it's so rare that we would need them and that they don't last as long, we have just stuck with the all terrain tyres. Will is doing fine and he will be with us between Christmas and New Year.

      Just how little grip road tyres have in wet mud is something you don’t appreciate until you’re stuck. Then even the best 4x4 system won’t help you. ☹️

      It might have been better if we had put on the front to rear diff lock. Ive seen 4 x 4s getting out of worse than than.

    So knowing it was wet why not take the van off on the hardstanding and use the mover to take it in?

    • @whereveraway
      @whereveraway  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi Jon, in the end we decided to do that and had to push whilst using the mover because there was a ridge of wood stopping the mover from working on its own. I hadn’t realised the grass was so boggy.

    The good the bad and the muddy. Enjoyed the guitar music at the start of the vlog. It was the calmness before the storm . If you dont make a Christmas vidio, I would like to wish you and your family all the very best for Christmas and the New Year. 🍺🍺🎄🎄🍷🍷

    Hi both. Another interesting video.Very easy to spin the wheels on that terrain. During many years of "field sports" I towed various vehicles ( incl 4 x 4 s)out of muddy fields with my old Defender - equipped with 80/20 off road tyres.Noisy on tamac and a drag on fuel consumption.Also lethel on ice! Defenders are low powered but pull from low revs which helps in the mud.
    Could't catch what you said about the pop top in the high winds Gary.
    It did look a nice site despite the "glorious" weather

      @whereveraway  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi Hayden, I was looking at a video today about mud tyres, but we hardly go off road. That mud was at a whole new level. Re the pop top, I think it was when the wind blew my bob hat off into the space between the canopy housing and the roof.

      Hi Graham, I could have avoided it but I underestimated how soggy the grass was and over estimated the ability of the 4x4.

    I don't know anything about the four wheel drive system on Landcruisers but was surprised you got stuck

    • @whereveraway
      @whereveraway  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hi Frank, I should have gotten out of that with ease and the reason why i messed it up is because i didn't press that simple little "Diff Lock" button. That would have locked all front to back axles and prevented single wheel spin.

    • @whereveraway
      @whereveraway  Před 8 měsíci

      There will be a diff lock button somewhere or auto diff lock if a wheel spins too much.

  • @vicdunni

    Omg you wrecked their grass 😂
    Think just use the motor mover next time 😮
    You are very good at the catering though, you look after your wife very well ( I’ve just mentioned that to my husband 😂) x

    • @whereveraway
      @whereveraway  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Hi Vic, we did end up using the motor mover in the end, however there was a ridge to get over onto the pitch and we had to use the mover and push the Eriba at the same time. Had I pushed the front to back diff lock button on the Landcruiser that mess wouldn't have happened. Our William usually does the catering and there will be more to come this summer. Tell your husband he is allowed to drink whilst cooking and that should do the trick as long as you do the washing up :)

      He did say what a narrow road near those pitches, so awkward to get onto your pitch without going on the grass, think it needs a re design xx

    Oh Gary the indignity of it all, should have paid for electric and used the motor movers your not that hard up?

    • @whereveraway
      @whereveraway  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hi Robert, yes a few lessons learned there. The motor mover works from the Leisure battery and we did use the mover in the end. We can easily manage without site electric for 2 days, as the battery only powers water pumps and LED lights. Pitches with electric are now costing £35 per night. If you book 2 nights, you only have one complete day on site. This site only allowed check in from 2pm, and check out by 11am, probably because of the narrow lanes to get to the site, so the location was not ideal for a caravan site.

    • @robertwalker3902
      @robertwalker3902 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes Gary it's not always ideal everywhere all the time, but the challenges can be rewarding if all goes well👍

  • @stevenperrin6010
    @stevenperrin6010 Před 2 měsíci

    Why didn’t you use the motor move in the first place instead of chewing up the grass

    • @whereveraway
      @whereveraway  Před 2 měsíci

      We thought we could get it in by reversing. We did use the motor mover in the end but the ridge onto the pitch made it difficult and we had to push + use the mover. Top and bottom of it is the approach is not wide enough for reversing caravans. It's fine for motorhomes and small camper vans. Had I selected front to rear diff lock it would have been a different story altogether.
