I love how the storyboard gets more detailed as Snatcher starts to have the cheese fits!
but i also cannot get enough of the lower detailed versions of the characters theyre so silly
It just gets detailed as soon as he has the cheese in his mouth
I think they didnt plan at first those scenes and later they thought of it as the characters were more defined
it fascinates me how snatcher has such a sophisticated voice but still looks like the most slimiest and unkept person you could ever meet
Ben Kingsley is an amazing actor
For our american ears it may sound refined, but in terms of English accents, his is very working class (I believe).
Dude looks (and is) pretty greasy.
@@lukebingus9432definitely, he’s got a typcial / stereotypical UK working class accent and tries to sound posher than he is. but his accent is too strong and shows through when he says quicker phrases like “yes, all those things, etc. etc.” it’s a very good way to show his personality and how he tries his best to be something he’s not but desperately wants to be
True, to the point Mr. Pickles and Mr. Trout look more respectable, and the former's skin literally borders on being blue.
Here's one detail that goes unseen, but here it is: Not only does Snatcher swell grotesquely when he eats the cheese, but the way his speech becomes slurred and his mannerisms become extremely erratic and aggressive, it becomes clear that cheese also makes Snatcher act like if he's just been heavily inebriated after a night at the bar.
It isn't just a severe cheese allergy. It's also an extreme case of lactose intolerance.
You gotta love the fact it's Extra Extra Mild Cheddar that he's having, and yet his allergies get _that_ bad. Bro truly had a pipedream.
I absolutely refuse to believe that a person like snatcher is somehow oblivious to the obvious allergic reaction he’s having as he eats cheese
Its classic denial, he's been denied cheese by class system, and he wages war against his own body for such a simple pleasure. Most tragic really

I think he does know but he choose to ignore it out of pride.
Like angiereyes said, snatcher DOES know about his allergy and knows the other red hats know but he refuses to acknowledge it because since the people he wishes to become (the white hats) constantly indulge in cheese, he knows he would not be “a true white hat” if his allergy stood in his way. So he pushes past it, even when his body physically cannot take it. I love his character!!
I love how Mr Trout and Mr Pickles in the story board are just the generic "Cartoon trio" of the tall guy, the big guy, and the short guy
Similar to the Ghostly Trio, Stretch (tall guy), Fatso (big guy), and Stinky (short guy).
I always love seeing the board to finals! My guess is later into the production they reboarded the parts where they needed more specific exploration into Archibald's smaller details and reaction effect to the cheese. I really love the clarity of the shorthanded boards as well~
I like how mr gristle is actually taking the situation their In serious in the storyboard version because he knows that snatcher will explode if he eats any more cheese instead of finding it funny in the final version.
I just took his expression in the storyboard to him just being mad at everything, since his face never changes, and looks pretty pissed being there.
hmm i kinda like the final version having this twisted Glee to him
Makes Mr. Gristle seem so much more of a crazy guy who joined Snatcher's men just to have excuse to hunt something with no regards of how he does it
Hes a little sadist, versus his counterparts being more thoughtful and at times trying to look out for their boss even if he still forces them to give him cheese to eat despite it['s effect

Real talk though, Mr. Gristle, Mr. Pickles, and Mr. Trout are the *REAL* MVPs here.
These three dudes genuinely care enough about Snatcher that they're willing to do everything in their power to prevent their friend from purposefully exposing himself to what turned out to be a fatal food allergy - even despite all the flack that they get from Snatcher.
If that's not true friendship, idk what is. With all the verbal abuse and twisted evil that Snatcher dishes out towards them and others, they could have easily just said "You want cheese? Ok. Cool." And just left him to his own devices. But they didn't.
Seriously. Get yourselves friends like Mr. Trout, Mr. Pickles, and Mr. Gristle.
I don’t think Gristle really cared about Snatcher considering he was the only one smiling and chuckling when Snatcher’s allergies began to act up, showing that he takes enjoyment in seeing anybody suffer regardless which side they’re on, either good side or bad side.
@@kittyslypaws746 i think he did, he just seems to be a nutcase. He happily fetches the leaches, but he doesn't seem to understand what "quietly" meant. Hes an odd case, but he doesn't seem to be apathetic.

I love the differences between storyboard and finished products when Snatcher says "Marvelous". In the film it highlights how dangerous he is, in that he can go from well-spoken and courteous to threathening at the drop of a (white?) hat if you do him wrong.
In the storyboard however, the fact that he doesn't change his face or expression makes the way he says it seem so passive aggressive and sarcastic, and a lot funnier.
I wonder how Wallace feels about this
A cheese allergy would be a fate that Wallace wouldn't wish upon his worst enemy.

I like how they have "Extra extra extra mild cheese" so there's less of an effect.
I find it interesting how in the story boards, Gristle looks a lot less deranged than in the film, with him looking more serious and slightly eerie. He doesn't even do his creepy smile and hand motions as he goes to get the leeches in the story board.

You know I never understood why don’t they just tell him he’s allergic to cheese or show him? Maybe snatch already Knows but just doesn’t care. I mean at the end of the movie when he’s all swollen up and about to explode. He just doesn’t care.
