You know “Mash”, The hilarious medical drama mostly remembered for its clever way of merging comedy with the grim realities of war?
The show’s unique take made it one of the most popular throughout its eleven year run and beyond, with the show’s finale being the most watched scripted TV episode of all time.
But if there's one issue with long-running shows and that's that no matter how good the script is, or how successful the show is, some actors will leave for “greener pastures” or simply to avoid typecasting.

The producers should have given Rogers what he wanted. Enhanced the role of Trapper and offered him a promotion to help manage the show. He might have stayed. He was just as funny as Alan Alda. The chemistry that he and Alda created together was unmatched by any other character relationship on the show. The old episodes are still much more enjoyable to watch than the later ones. By far.
