- Now this is a real amazing spot, Gujo Hachiman! Also known as the water city. Water flows all throughout the city, and it's so clean, that fish actually swim in the gutter here! Japan never ceases to amaze me with spots that just seems straight out of a fairytale.

Hi, I want to travel to Japan countryside with my 76 year old mum this year. Is it difficult to travel around to the countryside and find a hotel to stay? I don’t want to join tour groups. When I see the video, it seems the street are really empty which is good and bad. Good because we need a peaceful journey but I am afraid we may get lost and nobody to ask for help if you get lost. Does relying on Google maps works? I barely speak Japanese. Need advise. Thank you very much!
