Had the same issues finding new pair of levers especially where i am from, there aren’t many accessories for the Honda CRF. Bought the same levers as you from China and it’s been working fairly well, better than I expected. Hope to see more videos from you on the Rally and BMW GS. All the best from Vietnam mate!
Good to know. There’s a few things to do to the GS, but I know most people don’t come here for that! All my Ireland videos will be on it, so will see how many I drive away! Cheers
I’m sure that in time proper 300 levers will become available. It’s just taking a while to filter down. The stock ones are fine, and it’s only really a thing for two finger clutch operations. The levers seem to be everywhere and are cheap. I just hope they last! (Though with the handguards there’s a fair bit of protection for them.
@@PeakMotorcycles I ordered these short levers from e-Bay last week. It will take them a month or more to arrive. I’ll be upgrading the Rally with the skid plate, hand guards, tail tidy, exhaust, etc. from BikerzBits soon. The Double Take mirrors and the Garmin Zumo came in this week, as well. The mirrors are excellent. I got a set for the KLR, also. Thanks again for all your upgrade recommendations.
@@chrisallen5548 we managed to avoid it for a while but got caught in a downpour just before the Riverside South Downs cafe. No space inside but had some shelter under a big umbrella outside. Then it started again… one more big soaking just after we left heading up to Whiteways and then mostly dry. Last stop was Newlands Corner where we were under cover when the heavens opened and managed to wait it out with a bit of cake. The ride back to London was a bit damp with spray but nothing too bad. I hope you had a good day out and managed to avoid the worst of it. Good to meet you too!
🤣 if I was doing it for the $ I would have given up long ago. I’ve another 10 to do from the show, and then I’ll do one last one for the year and take a break for six weeks. Back in Feb with renewed energy and some more content I hope!
I’m trying to keep the videos as short as possible (though folks seem to watch 30-40% regardless of duration…) so it’s either take out or speed up, and I think speed is more helpful!
@@Terry-Tibbs not sure I’m at the ad revenue monitoring stage just yet 😉. I think I’m still at the ‘doing a video whenever I have time stage’ 😁. For the pennies it produces, it’s still very much at the what fraction of minimum wage level of revenue. If it ever ceases to be interesting for me, I’ll stop. I have a day job and I doubt this will ever replace that. Good to know though. Thank you!
@@Terry-Tibbs I think I got lucky with the CRF300. When they came out in Thailand I was disappointed that they weren’t coming to the UK, so when they were announced, I called my local dealer (in December) to order one, not knowing they would be so popular and with such a waiting list. I’m sure that drives viewing numbers. Currently the video ad revenue is about 30p/h of recording and editing time, so it’s a long way to go before it’s even close to minimum wage or an income, and even now it’s tricky to find content and time for 2-3 videos a week. It is still fun though, so I guess I’ll keep going for a while, perhaps switching to a new bike. Himalayan perhaps, or seeing if I can convert a BMW G650X to an adventure bike.
I fitted very similar levers to my CRF300L last week and, like you, drilled out the clutch lever pivot hole but I also fitted a thin shim with the clutch lever to reduce the vertical play. I guess the gap between the jaws is slightly larger on the 300 than it is on the 250.
@@robertlambert7906 no idea I’m afraid. I’m not expecting any 300L changes but I don’t think the 2022 models are confirmed yet. As for the 450X, not a clue I’m afraid. Google perhaps?
Hmm I just installed the zeta levers a day or so ago and they fit up perfectly. Zeta says it’s the same part number for 300 as the 250. Took a 60m ride with them yesterday and worked great. But I will say the clutch does come all the way back to the bar. I thought you had the red zeta’s. Couldn’t find those anywhere so I had to go with the black.
I couldn't find any Zetas anywhere in stock, and these are just cheap copies from China from eBay. Interesting that the Zeta ones say that they fit both... I don't think I'm the only person who found the clutch lever needed drilling out. Maybe mine are for an earlier version of the 250? The levers I have definitely came with a 7mm hole and needed an 8mm to fit the stock bolt. I don't have a 250 to check I'm afraid.
Hey. I’m trying to buy the same leavers but on Amazon. What year of CRF 250 your levers supposed to fit? I was assuming 2020? & what crf model? F, L, R? Let me know please thank you.
True, but it is short enough to clear two of my fingers when pulled to the bar, which was the aim. There’s also a reason there’s a ball or ring on the end, which I guess you lose with cutting the stock one. It is cheaper though.
@@PeakMotorcycles It's true, but in the Africa Twin I made a screwed aluminum plate, which replaces the ball...I'm also trying to understand if I can adapt a MTB lever on an original basis. .
Is it just the shoulder on the bolt a different size and the thread size/pitch the same? I was think it might be easier just to get a clutch bolt that fits the 250.
It may look, but it doesn’t come into contact and clutch operation is not affected. I’m 2000 road and trail miles into it now and still using the same levers.
Humm, mine hits but shifts fine. Have to look at it again. The length of the bend and overall length is shorter. I like the shorter length. Have to fiddle with it

I would have thought so, as I think the master cylinder and levers are the same part for ABS and non-ABS versions. That said, these levers didn’t fit my bike. I had to drill out the pivot holes to make them fit. (In the video 😉)
I recently bought these off ebay for my CRF250L, Part# ZS4-3101-3. I have the same issue, the clutch pivot hole diameter is too small. Hi,
The links to what I bought are in the video description with links to UK and US eBay.
Did the clutch lever hit the headlight switch on a full pull of the lever? I’ve seen this as an issue on other installs for the CRF Rally.
Not on mine. There’s no headlamp switch on the front of the button housing.
Does the clutch lever stay more firm or still move up and down like the standard?
Is there any trick to make the standard clutch lever firmer?
Thanks!
It still moved a bit. After the video I added a washer, which helped. I expect you could do the same with the stock lever.
What if it’s the other way round 300 brake lever on a 250 would that work ?
Good question, but unfortunately I don’t have a 250 to try my 300 levers… Apologies.
How did you go with the clutch switch? Does it still start in any gear with the clutch pulled in?
I think so, but I haven’t tried. The clutch switch still engaged so I guess so. I’m travelling at the moment so can’t check I’m afraid.
It seems you have no free play in your clutch, after installing the lever. Did you need to readjust the free play?
Hi, I did, but I rode it and tweaked it. It wasn’t much. Perhaps half a turn.
The clutch side looks like it hits the plastic turn signal assembly with the bend in the new lever. Does it affect the clutch operation?
It may look, but it doesn’t come into contact and clutch operation is not affected. I’m 2000 road and trail miles into it now and still using the same levers.
