    Lucifer… Phosphorus... Ishtar… Morning star, evening star… All these sonorous names signify one and the same celestial body - Venus. The third brightest object in our sky, this planet has always attracted sky watchers and scientists. For many years dense impenetrable clouds shrouding its surface have excited observers’ imagination, which prompted ideas of now a boundless ocean, then impassable jungles crawling with monsters. The reality turned out to be even more complicated and horrifying than these naive assumptions. So what does Venus really conceal from us?

    Venus is amazing to see in binoculars or a scope. You can see the phases clearly. Currently visible in the morning skies. It's pretty hard to miss. Also Mars is close by at this time too. Redder and dimmer below Venus from the Northern hemisphere. If you're up before dawn go check them out in your South East sky.

    I've always had a fascination with Venus. There's something special about that planet and it deserves more exploration than Mars imo. There could be life there that has adapted to survive with its extreme conditions. We would die immediately there but life from there might die instantly on earth because they aren't adapted to our conditions just like we aren't adapted to theirs

    • @stryker0ae

      @nahor88 Před rokem +6

      It's possible Venus had life hundreds of millions of years ago, but definitely not now. It would be worthwhile to perform some sort of remote mining operation to search for fossils, and even more useful, mine for minerals we can use on Earth. That might actually be the most useful thing we get from Mars, as making it truly habitable is pretty unrealistic any time soon. Venus is also very similar to Earth, and is actually a pretty dire warning to us of what could happen one day.

      Kids today have almost effortless access to so much more knowledge than my generation even had the opportunity to access. We could only watch and try to learn through a MUCH smaller window, a keyhole in comparison. Where kids today have it harder is that there is so much out there to watch and read, it's easy (and perfectly understandable) to just throw up one's hands and say 'I don't know who's speaking from a place of real knowledge and who is not, or why.'

    Terraformation probably couldn't be very difficult if we'll hold adjustable shader at Lagrange point. Next when heat will down we'll bring ice asteroids to make ocean.

    Yes, please do another episode. Why would terraforming Venus be impossible? Couldn't we just nuke it?

    You've never heard the expression, "As ABOVE so below?" When you find the so below in anyway educational, you are in deep trouble.

    I like to think Venus was an earth like planet before with life on it.. but something happened

      Yes, that sounds plausible. Since Venus has no magnetic field to prevent solar wind from eroding it's atmosphere, but still has a very dense atmosphere, maybe it's current atmosphere is relatively new and the result of some cataclysmic event in recent history.

    Since where the probes land is essentially where an ocean would be if the higher lands are continents, then perhaps the pressures where it landed were worse than if it landed on higher land?? Also the flatness of the land is more or less ocean floor as we see those rocks and such. i hope we land one on venuses would be continents.
