Hi guys, hope you enjoyed your trip on the canals xxxxxxxx
Thank you so much! If we hadn’t found you guys on Amazon Prime, I’m not sure we would’ve discovered narrowboating. We had an absolutely wonderful experience and hope that we can make our way there full time in the next couple of years. 🙂
Enjoy your trip to the UK...Look forward to following your narrow boat adventures...
Great take off editing 👍👍
Thank you so much! It was great being over there and finally getting on a boat. Looking forward to hopefully doing it permanently in the near future. Glad you enjoyed the take off! 😀
Aww this is so lovely, seeing your excitement after watching us all for so long! Really hope we get to meet you both out on the cut one day soon! You’ll love living on the water! Julie & Martin xx
Thank you so much! We had such a wonderful time on the boat and are hoping to be on the cut full time in a couple of years or so. We would love to meet you both as we’ve enjoyed your videos. 😀 Jason & Karen
@@JustTwoPeople aww that would be lovely! xx
Hello! Glad you enjoyed the videos 🙂
Hi David! Thank you so much for commenting. Your videos were and still are absolutely wonderful. We’re hoping to move to the U.K. permanently and be continuous cruising in a couple of years. Looking forward to seeing you continue to get Twiggy all fixed up. 😀
This is so cool guys, so happy for you to be able to come over a give it a go, you've probably done more cruising that us 😂😂 hopefully we see you when were finally up and running, lovely vlogging 😀hope the spiders didnt put you off 😂😂😀❤❤ Take care
Thanks so much you two! We only had the boat for a few days to try it out, so I bet you’ve still got us beat on cruising. 🤣 It’ll be another couple of years before we get over there for good hopefully - I’m sure you’ll be up and running by then for sure. Only saw three tiny spiders on the boat, so not bad at all. 🤪 Looking forward to your next vid and hope to run into you both in a couple of years. You guys take care also!
@@JustTwoPeople only 3?? Wow. My first task every morning was to sweep up the new webs that’d been spun overnight!
🤣
Whatva lovely couple. I'm so jealous I'm from England and would love to live on the canals
Thank you! 😀 That was just a trial run for us, but in a couple of years or so, we hope to be continuously cruising the network. We’re already missing the canals and the boat.
Best of luck to you! I've just recently been following several narrowboat vloggers and its pretty fascinating! Wish we had those here in the US!
Thank you! We’re really hoping that everything works out for us to make the move and pursue the lifestyle. It is absolutely fascinating. Believe it or not, there are some widebeams you can hire on the Erie Canal. Might be worth checking out. 🙂
Yes, the American decision that no, we shouldn’t keep the canals, because we are so tight for space and need to reuse them as soon as they’re less needed… It’s frustrated me for years
Wonderful! Really loved this and your excitement at being on the canal at long last! 🙂😊 So pleased you enjoyed it.
Thank you so much, Richard! It was an absolutely wonderful experience. We’re really hoping to make cruising the network our future if everything works out. 🙂
I’ve subbed and will be following your journey thanks to Richard at Nighttime on still waters 😊😊👍🏼
Thank you so much! Yes, we’ve heard you mentioned on Richard’s podcast. Looking forward to checking out your channel. 😀👍
Exact same journey as you. Watching CZcams videos for years and then finally did a trial run vacation on the Trent & Mersey. Now waiting a few years to retire and go full time for a few years. Except I, husband, is from the UK originally.

That’s really awesome that we’re on the same journey! 😀 We’re hoping to be on the waterways full time in a couple of years. Would be great to see you guys on the cut also in a few years. Enjoyed the video - glad we didn’t have to deal with a faulty faucet like that. LOL
Same here thanks to Richard’s podcast. Nice to see what folks from other countries think of nb holidays! Hope you enjoy/ed 👍
Thanks so much - we absolutely loved our time on the boat. Hopefully we’ll have much more time on the cut in a couple of years. 😀
Just came here from NOSW and ... had my dreams crushed in the 1st minute, because I was wondering how you were intending to be able to emigrate from the US - as the canals are a dream of mine... and here I find one of you is CHEATING by already being Scottish.
;)
{sigh} I'm in my mid 50s already and it's only going to get HARDER to get accepted someplace else.
I’m so glad to hear you found us through the NOSW podcast. 😀
Yes, if Karen wasn’t already a U.K. citizen, we wouldn’t have a chance of making it work, so we’re fortunate in that regard. It’s still not going to be easy though to emigrate the way we intend to using cash savings. It requires a lot of money held in a bank account for five years. We go over that some in our latest pros and cons video. It’s a fairly long watch, but we’ve divided it up into chapters, and it’s the very first con on there. I do hope you’re at least able to make it over there for a canal holiday if you haven’t already done so. 🙂
@@JustTwoPeople I spent 5w in 2018 on my aunt’s 28’ Springer (“the narrow boat maker for fans of the original VW beetle”) and.., I’ve been longing to go back ever since.
Maybe at least someday I’ll find a job that’ll let me work remote (and on gmt) 6 months of the year…
Ah, that must’ve been awesome. I wish we had been able to have that much time on the boat, but just a few days is all we were able to do unfortunately. Those Springer boats are a bit different with their v-bottom hulls, and there are still quite a few around I believe. 🙂
Yeah, it sounds like the six months there and six months here is about the only way to do it if you don’t have a way over otherwise. I suppose it would be possible to find a high enough paying job to satisfy the immigration authorities, but unfortunately, they’re raising the salaries needed for that much higher than was previously needed in order to make it more difficult for people to emigrate.
