    It always made me laugh how it showed the army doing really well in battle then immediately cut to "and they lost".

      I’m pretty sure in 7 years they were slowly cut down (attrition) as we never really know where the scorpion kings headquarters or supply points were, plus it said enemies so maybe in that 7 years those who opposed him united and the scene where they were driven off was the big battle which he officially lost against them in his home territory.

    This was Dwayne Johnson's first big gig and it made his career. Fun fact he felt absolutely miserable during the shooting. He was extremely sick and in the middle of the desert he needed blankets between shots because he was freezing. They asked if he wanted to stop but he refused and pushed through...When the studio saw the dailies they gave him the Scorpion King movie and his career started officially.

      @@CcOLaGeN Nope, I was born in '91. Even back in 2003 people were laughing at the bad Scorpion King CGI, calling it bad PS2 graphics. Compare that to the visual effects to Lord of the Rings, Matrix, Star Wars etc and it's a joke. Also it makes it even worse for The Rock if he had only a small amount of screen time and yet still can't do a good job with it lol.

    Interesting that Anubis is portrayed in a villainous way when he was the god of the dead and considered one of the gods who kept evil out of Egypt. Set would've made more sense...given that he killed his brother Osiris and chopped his body up into pieces.

    I remember watching this in theaters when it came out. Seeing that opening for the first time was AWESOME, knew the sequel was gonna be as great as the first movie.

      Me to. I remember when The Rock was promoting it while still in WWE. He not only open doors for 6 Scorpion King sequels but he made WWE another house hold name in Hollywood, look how many WWE superstars done movies after. We had Hulk Hogan and others do movies but when the Mummy Returns and Scorpion King came out everyone in WWE started doing way more movies. I wanna see Roman Reigns start in a Scorpion King movie reboot or play as Aquaman.

      Most "large" battles were not really done with brainlessly crashing into each other, they were a lot slower, some even rotated back and front so the ex-front could rest and regain stamina, some just composed of many small skirmishes all over the field while the rest acted as support.

    I really loved seeing this movie in theaters, especially the Anubis Army when they were resurrected.
    Another great scene is with those mini mummies in the oasis.
    Those were some crazy characters in the movie

    Just when the Scorpion King tasted victory, the Armies of Thebes proved to be overwhelming even for an Akkadian.
    Mathayus had lost.
    One by one, his army died of heat stroke.
    The Scorpion King clinging to life made a deal with Anubis to give him the means to devastate Thebes in return, he would give him his soul.

    I remember the first time I saw this movie in theaters, The audience cheered like crazy once we saw The Rock on the big screen on the real I’m surprised we didn’t chant The Rock’s name and I believe we were kinda disappointed we didn’t get to see Him again but instead we got a special effects half Rock and half scorpion even though I believe they could’ve used the special effects from the movie Mortal Combat with that character that was actually the man with a body of a ram 😏 good times going to the movie theaters

      It's always a huge misconception. It's like how they always portray Hades as evil simply because he is the God of the Underworld. All he did was collect souls of people who have died. It's where every soul went and they needed somebody to monitor that

      He could have Anubis help, Anubis and Brendan respect order.
      Anubis would be the first god to complain about humans being resurrected at will.
      Also, the so called "the book of dead" is actually called "the book of the rising of the sun" , it talks about what happens at dusk, night and dawn. During this time Ra must face many obstacles, he is helped by some gods and, then, Ra suffers a transformation that allows him to rise again.
      The help of these gods wouldn't be ilogical.

What a life Mathayus led up till then. May his soul find rest one day

    Not to correct this movie, but I feel like they could have used Set in Anubis stead.
    They look the same, head of Jackal body of man, but Anubis isn't really evil, he is just the guide and guardian from the dead, while Set is the one that rules over war, sandstorms and destruction, I mean he wasn't always evil in egyptian mythos, but that's how he ended up, as far as I know.
    And yeah, I know that it's just a movie and one shouldn't look too deep into it, which god they use doesn't change the experience in the end

      Same for using Imhotep as the baddie in these films, the real man did so much good for his country that he was he was considered a deity.
      And the Medjai had a very different kind of job for the Pharoah in history.
      They are still very enjoyable films.

      Hes asking for help from Anubis because hes the mediator for those who go to the underworld and Scorpion King was near death, and Anubis was waiting to take his soul. Serket wouldn't fit in his plea.
