This project looks awesome Lindy. I wonder if you could use something other than leather gloves since it might be too hot here in Florida for leather? Maybe a thin neoprene like the gloves used in scuba diving?

here is quick suggestion for you the next time you want to make a gauntlet. get yourself a hand held 3d scanner and scan your hands while wearing the gloves you will be using. once that is done you can then adjust the dimentions of gauntlet pieces to match the gloved hands

Or you could take a picture of the side and front of your hand and 3d model it using some CAD software

Maybe Im a bit confused, but Im just starting out... where do you get the design to print the parts?
I created a paper model first by looking at pictures and experimenting until the pattern fit. Next scanned the pattern get a digital version, traced the lines in Adobe Illustrator and exported the shapes as SVG files to make them 3d printable in 123d design.

Lindy Design Lab I'm actually relatively new to casting itself, but extensive video watching and time wasting has taught me (hopefully) how to cast using pla... (I've actually been planning on printing and pla casting the One Ring)

For the parts of the vambrace, are they held together by a hinge on one side, or just straps on both halves?
For now everything is just on straps. Final finished version might be riveted directly to the glove or on straps, have not decided yet.
If you do it with rivets, do you have to kinda design them into the model, or is it easier just to drill holes and hope for the best?
Holes can be added as needed with a round tip wood burner, but I haven't yet tested how well riveting works with these parts.
Riveting works ok, you just have to be careful that you don't split the plastic while getting things set. And that depends largely on how you oriented the object for printing.
Cool, the filament used is like rubber, no chance of splitting, so might work well then.
