  • The battle between Tom Cartledge, Chairman of Nottingham Forest Football Club, and the Nottingham City Council has reached a boiling point over the lease of "The City Ground." At the heart of the conflict lies a fundamental disagreement over the cost of leasing the land on which the historic stadium stands.
    In the exclusive interview we get the Councils point of view, with guest Steve Battlemuch who is a Nottinghamshire City Councillor who has been supporting Nottingham Forest his whole life. Mr Battlemuch gives us his thoughts on the stadium dilemma and where he see the dispute between the local council and the club is heading.
    This standoff has put the future of Nottingham Forest and "The City Ground" in jeopardy, as both parties dig in their heels and refuse to budge. But with a majority of the fans keen to stay at the clubs spiritual home and firmly against a move to the proposed new site in Toton, this debate could rumble on for sometime.
    Let us know your thoughts on what Steve Battlemuch had to say and where you stand on the stadium situation, should Forest move or not? As always dont forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to Forest Fan TV.

    FFTV Well done guys ,Steve Battlemuch thanks for coming on. BUT
    I can't believe what I was hearing in the past week 😳. The majority of forest fans Would prefer to stay at the city ground. And if we had to move go to the site next to the BBC and Walking Center, minimal effect on transport. Could be called New City Ground 🥳.
    But all we was hearing was excuses from the City Council (Forest haven't got back to us, we left it in they hands ) How they can't do this? They can't do that 😮. Nothing to help or Resolve the situation.The Toton situation has gathered speed because the City Council has just sat on their hands and done 'NOTHING'. The people of Nottingham DO NOT want to see their 2 football teams based outside of the city, Definitely not the major one The financial loss to the centre of the city is unthinkable.. People from outside the city are laughing. Asking, how the hell could the council let their number one team move outside of the city, Shameful🥺. Because they let it happen and did NOTHING 😡😤🤬
    I think many people will agree with what I ve said

      Many of us would absolutely agree with you. There are many more councils across the country expected to declare bankruptcy this year. I've followed politics for many years, the state our country is in, is shocking.
      If Mr. Marinakis, agrees to pay the council, they will just keep putting the rate up.
      Forest need to build a new ground/stadium for the future of the club, but not in Toton.

    Please note it was Steve Battlemuch that stated the ground I was talking about and many others too still belongs to the City Council and not Conygar as you are saying are already developing it! They stated in the video on FFTV that Steve Battlemuch confirmed the area was still a waste ground owned by Nottingham City Council and they are not planning to develop it either as they do not have any money to do so anyway! There is also another area that has been offered to Forest and that is an area of land in Toton that I personally think is too far out anyway!

    After hearing the Owners interview where he mentions a 'stadium and new training ground' (or words very much like that) and then seeing the club try to bend the rhetoric that they're being left with no choice but to move, it feels very much like they're trying to engineer the narrative and set the ground work in the fans minds...that we're heading for a new stadium with training ground next to it. It really does feel like the club are trying to push for this now and I've no doubt it's exactly what the owner wants. Would love it to be something like the new Everton ground, still connected to the city, a good 50,000 size, compact for the atmosphere, although I'd hate to leave just as much.

    Just listening to this council bureaucrat you can tell they are being awkward and greedy.
    So due to NFFC's progress and brilliance the lease goes up.
    I hate the thought of a new stadium but can see it going ahead with idiots like this who 'doesn't want to discuss figures or it's not his area of expertise'.

  • @mattd5236
    @mattd5236 Před 29 dny +5

    Forest want a 50000 seater stadium current location looks to be restricted to 40000. Buying freehold won’t allow for enough development, if they could also purchase some adjoining land it might be possible to do on current site. The key is to do so on a plot big enough to build from scratch whilst still playing at current stadium. Rebuilding stand by stand would be financially challenging and would cause several seasons of lost revenue.
    Can you imagine not being able to develop the stadium to adequately modernise to provide value for money to fans and generate increased revenue whilst signing up for a 250 year lease (I know we could get out of it - at a cost).

      Is the club able to do what Barcelona did and dig down to create an extra level of seating?

    • @markdermody9698
      @markdermody9698 Před 29 dny

      @@wayneb8620 probably not unless the people who are due to sit in those seats wear snorkels along with the players and coaches too as they would probably be under water if we had even just a little rain! The Trent gets so high when it rains and the pitch has always been susceptible to flooding so if we dig down it would disperse the water and raise the water table a little in the area therefore not a very good idea!
      I must admit it though that despite the thought of moving from the City Ground isn't perfect as it is our home and has been for nearly 100 years, however the ground near BBC Radio Nottingham would be a better alternative than moving to Toton which is not ideal for anyone , especially if you rely on public transport. The thought of moving out that far would be dreadful when we would rather stay near the Trent and Trent Bridge which the Island Site is rather close to as it is literally about 500 yards from site to site. The incinerator could eventually be moved to the site of the City Ground eventually as could the Transport Depots for the City Council too once the new upgraded City ground has been built on the Island Site then it could work and they would have a much larger footprint to work with than the Current City Ground occupies therefore it would be an ideal alternative if the City Council would be willing to do a partial swap and temporary ground share lol. I think it could work if the new City Ground is built first and then the new incinerator is built at the old City Ground site then put into operation, then the old one can be demolished and the ground prepared for other facilities that Forest could utilise to a Hotel even if they wanted to build one like many of the other Premiership Clubs have got. That could be an option looking forward! We could even buy the whole ground location which has been waste ground since the end of World War 2 anyway therefore any usage would be better than its current usage! They could offset the cost by selling the City Ground If allowed to buy it in the first instance and then a swap deal could be the order of the day!
