That's really great to see how it was done in the eighties . its a shame that some people have forgotten how simply things were and how complex things have become .
"3 for bucks, 4 for does". From the days before everything got standardised and we were told early on to always fill it up or we would not pass dsc1! The chances of getting the chance to take 3 shots at one animal through the undergrowth in the buck season are tiny, so why shake the bullets in their seatings loading 4 or 5? Lovely to see the great Mr Prior in action too.
Would have been interesting to know what rifle and caliber Jack used on this hunt. Can you even do this in England & rest of Great Britain today? 40 years went by in a blink of a eye for me. I can say that I got more deer on iron sights rather than a scoped rifle, I am in my 60's and still have 20-20 eyesight.
often when you are looking down a scope the blast of smoke and muzzle flip obscures your view for an instant just long enough to not be able to see if the stag dropped or ran. But you get to know if you have hit or not but that comes with experience I have never thought I have hit a buck and found I haven't you just get to know
Sad to hear of the passing of Big Jack. A great man in all respects, much admired. RIP Jack.
Love these shows, thanks for posting

I thought Jack was good at hunting until i saw this episode. 2 great chances at roebucks blown!!
The best burger I’ve ever had was venison
Had a touch of lead poisoning that one
So they don't even get to eat the meat?
worrying he didn't know he hit it

Alan Bush I agree alan I think he should have taken him to a field or high seat not woods for a first time shot
Little different than shooting moose here in Newfoundland.
just a hell of a lot smaller Ha Ha
Very awkward cleaning whilst on the floor. Hock it and hang it in the tree. So much easier
I always carry a length of rope and hang it up by one front leg in a tree then when you open them up gravity takes over and cleans em out
too much talking
I was wondering when they were going to SHUT UP I recon the roe bucks were deaf
It's for the camera, boys.
